The Eleventh Cup of Coffee Part 1

On the second day of the Labor Day holiday, Jiang Ying learned her lesson from yesterday and set her cell phone to silent mode. She satisfied her small desire to sleep until she woke up naturally.

She dodged all phone calls. But unexpectedly, she could not avoid the doorbell ringing at eight o’clock in the morning.

The person pressed it a lot. It was like the person knew that Jiang Ying would not open the door immediately and pressed it again with a rhythm. Each ring happened to be pressed at the moment Jiang Ying was between “waking up” and “falling asleep”.

After being tortured for almost five minutes, Jiang Ying really couldn’t go on. She squinted and stumbled to the door. “Who is it?”

“Meituan Delivery.” There was a passive female voice outside the door.

Jiang Ying recognized the owner of the voice and instantly woke up. She opened the door with surprise. “What are you doing here?”

Shen Xuan smiled at her. She picked up the two big bags on the ground and went into the house. “I came to hang out with you.”

Jiang Ying closed the door and went to the bathroom to wash up. She squeezed the toothpaste and asked Shen Xuan, “Did you take the high-speed rail?”

“Lao Zhou drove the entire way to your door.” Shen Xuan took out the things in the bag and brought them to Jiang Ying.

Yang’s Dumplings1, trendy qingtuan2, salted egg yolk puff3, fried pork chop burger4 and pork ribs braised rice cake5. The two big bags were full of stuff. Jiang Ying did not know if she was a purchasing agent for snacks in Shen City.

Jiang Ying showed a gloating smile. “Did you two fight?”

“A damn fight? Would he dare to piss me off now?” Shen Xuan touched her slightly swollen belly. “He’s going to Yang City on business this afternoon. I’m bored when there’s no one at home.”

Jiang Ying washed her face and smugly walked up to the coffee table. She looked at everything and pointed to the pan-fried pork dumplings with surprise and said, “I’ve been craving this for a long time!”

Shen Xuan got up. She put the fried pork from the box in the microwave for two minutes. She asked her, “Did you ask out Xiangqin on May Day?”

It took Jiang Ying a few seconds to realize that she was talking about Yun Xian. “I have plans to go to Turtle Head Isle, but there are too many people there during May Day. We plan to go next weekend.”

Shen Xuan said, “Aren’t the flowers gone by now?”

Jiang Ying did not mind, “Do you think we’re going to see the flowers?”

Shen Xuan knocked on her shoulder. “You can, Jiang Zhishu.”

Jiang Ying had a pan-fried pork dumpling in her mouth as she winked at Shen Xuan.

After breakfast, Shen Xuan took Jiang Ying to go shopping.

Her baby was not doing well during the first three months and she did not dare to go out of her home. Now that her condition is stable, she was restless and always wanted to go out for a walk.

While Jiang Ying was changing clothes, she took out her usual white T-shirt and jeans.

Shen Xuan gave a tsk and asked her, “Is that what you are wearing?”

Jiang Ying looked at the clothes in her hand: “What’s wrong with it? It’s not like I’m going to the club.”

Shen Xuan took away the loose T-shirt in her hand and stuffed a purple one shoulder blouse to her. “Try to look a bit beautiful, you don’t want to lose to me.”

Jiang Ying concentrated on her and looked her up and down.

Shen Xuan was elegant and beautiful at all times. She used to change her hair color every once in a while, from flax green to grape purple. When she painted, she would tie her hair up into a loose bun.

She looked like an artist. Jiang Ying always said this of Shen Xuan.

Now she was an expecting mother, who was four months pregnant and had dark brown medium-long hair. She was still as slim as other girls except for her slightly bulging stomach.  She wore a thin tied green knit cardigan and denim shorts that revealed a pair of straight and slender legs.

Shen Xuan rolled up her sleeves because it was stuffy in the room. The tattoos on the inside of her arms were faint, and it extended from her wrist to an unknown length.

It was simply so hot that it couldn’t be hotter than her.

Jiang Ying nodded thoughtfully and gave a respectable bow to Shen Xuan: “I will follow your example, give up on being crude, and strive to be an urban beauty.”

While Jiang Ying was putting on her makeup, Shen Xuan was lying in bed and sending Wechat messages to her husband. She said, “When people look at us, they all say that I lead you astray. But really, I am being accused wrongly. Jiang Ying, you have more courage than me. You just pretend to be virtuous and kind every day.”

Shen Xuan had a bright appearance. She had an easygoing personality and was liberal. She was so beautiful when it showed. Meanwhile, Jiang Ying looked quiet and introverted. She always retained the image of a good girl in front of people.

But truthfully, as she said to Yun Xian the other day, what people see may be the real her, but definitely not all of her.
