“That looks painful,” I rub Yami’s back fearing that he might die because of too much vomiting. “You can do it, pal!” I cheer him up like a friend would do.
That’s the thing, Yami and I are not friends.
Yami while squatting looks up at me with confusion. “What is up with you? It’s not like we are ‘associates’ or something?” Yami’s sarcasm is evident. “Besides, I haven’t caught your name yet, and now, you are happily conversing with me Yami that, Yami this… It is annoying.”
Fuck, did I perhaps poke the bear?
“Moreover,” Yami’s eyes suddenly become dangerous and full of killing intent. “What was that? Was that Ki?”
A few seconds ago— when Yami was vomiting a rainbow, I instinctively dodges it— Yami realizes at that exact moment, I can sense Ki. I reprimand Yami in my mind, why do you have to be so observant!? It doesn’t mean like your ability to dodge is all gone if you don’t know how to read Ki, right?
“Wait, there must be a misunderstanding.” My Ki sensing is not even average. I know this as Drouot tells me what the warriors of Hino country’s standards are like.
I raise my palms in defense and step back a little as a sign of showing that Yami is scaring me. “Really, I don’t even know what Ki is.”
Sadly, Yami is interpreting my words differently. “Why are you so defensive then? Look at you skittering and raising your arms like a little girl. Spill the beans if you don’t want your head rolling to the ground.” Yami draws a hardy stick by his waist. I was only noticing that stick’s presence now.
What kind of guy carries a stick on his waist? “This is humiliating, really, a stick? What more? Behead me with a stick?”
Yami swings his stick, a dark aura imperceptibly stretching from it. “Trust me, this thing can cut. I might not be able to behead you, but I can still mince you.”
Mince? Are you Jack the ripper?
And…
“Ki-ki-ki-ki~ki,” Speak of the devil. “If there is any slashing, let me in!” A lanky tall guy with long hair intrudes the two-part conversation.
Sigh… Is my horoscope that bad today? Three original characters from the anime is surrounding me— Julius disguising himself as an old lady, Yami Sukehiro pointing his stick at me, and then now… there is Jack the Ripper laughing while his palms are on his waist.
Jack the Ripper, like from the anime, possess long hair, a slim physique, and an annoying laugh. He didn't change much from how I remember him. No, there is something different… This Jack… has a beautiful smile. Not that exactly, this Jack seems more handsome compared to the anime version. Maybe because this Jack doesn’t have a scar yet.
Fuck, what is happening to me? This must be a spell, right? A spell that would turn anyone gay is too dangerous for my mental health. Why of all people is Jack so charming in his youth? Well, there is Yami too, but Jack? ‘All young people are cute.’ There is a saying like that, right?
Jack with his intuition immediately catches on to what am I thinking, maybe it’s because of my too-honest cringing facial expression. “What are you looking at? Want me to slash you?”
This is bad. I need to do something. At this rate, this will surely escalate into a fight. I prioritize my objectives on my mind. Is there a way out of this? A way where Julius would see Yami in a favorable light while I safely get myself out of this sticky situation, is there?
“Yami,” I show Yami my own deadly glare, my voice an octave lower. “From what I hear, there is a foreign merc out there who is gathering relative fame, is that you? It’s just a couple of months, maaan, what are you? A money grubber?”
Jack snarls and complains about being ignored. “What are you two up to? Don’t cause any ruckus or I’ll mime you lot.”
Ignoring the ruckus Jack was making, I start invoking the mana within me. “Yami, not because I am addressing you by your name means I am seeing you as a person. Your dark grimoire especially disgusts me.” I emphasize the words ‘dark grimoire’ as that is something that would pique Julius’s interest.

Julius is the type of person who loves to see new kinds of magic.
Still, I am not done yet. I still have more to say. “Do you see this?” Revealing teacher Drouot’s Travel Journal, I start my scheme. “This is my teacher’s Travel Journal. It contains his life experiences. That includes his experiences in Hino Country. You see, I fancy myself a genius. Learning Ki is just my starting point!”
Yami with his Ki sensing realizes the danger he was about to face. He cannot feel my mana, but my intent is just enough for him to realize what is about to ensue.
“Singularity Divide.” With an apathetic voice, I release my magic at him praying that Julius makes his move. Within a blink of an eye, I made a trench stretching from me to Yami’s direction. “Heh, you dodged that.”
Yami with his Ki was able to barely dodge. I can visibly see him sweating. Who wouldn’t? My magic is basically invisible to the eyes. If Yami were a normal person, he’d be long dead.
I sneak a peek at the disguised Julius. Still not making your move, huh? So, Julius can actually be a cruel guy. My Ki sensing is barely passable, but I make up the difference with my observation.
I see Yami’s gaze at me, shift, as if, there is someone from my rear. I immediately roll forward feeling the wind at the back of my neck, I see who my attacker is. It is Jack.
“Death Scythe!” he screams in his shrill voice full of emotions.
Swinging my index finger once more, I mutter my magic. “Singularity Divide.” The invisible wave of singularity comes at Jack’s sharp blades protruding from his arms. The result of the collision was as I was expecting.
Jack’s [Death Scythe] loses to my [Singularity Divide]. My magic of invisible slashing force continues to push through.
Julius, please, just make your move. I glance at the old lady more openly now, as if, I was pleading to her.
Jack who is about to die to my magic shows me a fanatic smile. Adrenaline pumping in his veins, Jack makes an incredible maneuver of bending his back almost at 90 degrees. “Leg Strength Boost!” Using reinforcement magic on himself, Jack turns the table on me.
With his cruel nature, Jack is not someone who just lets go of his prey. “Death Scythe!” He makes his follow-up, rushing at me with explosive leg strength.
How many times did I use Singularity Divide? Exactly about two times, yet I am already at half the amount of my mana. Looks like limiting myself to instantaneously using [Singularity Divide] within one millisecond is too much for me.
“Singularity Divide!” I desperately make my struggle.
Jack stretches his limbs, his slash magic attribute slashes through my third [Singularity Divide]. This attribute is fucking crazy! It can even cut singularity!
With the danger stimulating me, I finally and fully unlock Ki sensing. From my rear, I can feel Yami’s steps, weight, and presence getting closer. This is bad, really bad.
Is this it? Is this game over for me?
Yami closes in. “Dark Cloaked Black Blade.” Uttering his signature magic, Yami brings his sword down to me.
WhAt tHe fUCk!? Where is your warrior’s honor?
