Lu perches on my shoulder. From a distance, I can see Jack flying with his broom. The guy comes to a stop mid-air. “Hey, why is the captain of Crimson Lion here?”

I ignore his question and just stretch my hand out asking for the Magic Contracts I asked Jack to buy. “Give it to me.”

“Tsk,” Annoyed, Jack reminds me that this is only in loan. “Make sure you pay me back.”

While it is true that Jack’s service is free, I am not shameless enough to rob him in broad daylight and openly at that. Mereoleona patiently waits for me to finish writing on the contract parchment with the Magic Pen I received from Acier.

Presenting the magic contracts to Mereoleona and Jack, I start my presentation. “With me as the arbiter and contractor, I present to you a very high-level mercenary contract. Using my Singularity Magic as the penalty for breaking the contract, I am pretty sure no one among you two will dare break it.”

Party A: Aaron Jester
Party B: Mereoleona Vermillion, Jack
In the duration of one year, Party B has to follow Party A’s instructions to the very letter twice a day. If there is a breach of contract, Party A can punish the contractee with a [Dot of Singularity.] Also, details of the contract, adventure, and the information of the parties involved shall be kept confidential. If there is a breach of contract, Party A is obliged to kill the contractee.

'Extreme, too extreme.' Mereoleona gulps at the contract. This is basically a slave contract. She wants to protest but when she saw Jack easily signing the contract, the words just cannot come out of her mouth.

“Come on,” I chide Mereoleona. “Sign now.” With my provoking grin, Mereoleona signed anyway.

It is just one year of slavery, isn’t it? Mereoleona consoles herself.

I also finish signing the contract. I call it high level because of its effect. This is the kind of contract that perfectly suits my magic. The enchantment that I can 100% accurately hit someone with my magic once a breach of contract occurs is just perfect. This kind of contract is illegal. It is only thanks to Jack that I manage to acquire it.

“Let’s go to the best Enchantment workshop!” I call my minions. “Hehehe, might as well max out my prep work! Be prepared for my super camp!”

I ask my companions to accompany me to the workshop every day. Alternating from the local inn, and workshop, I confidently make progress. For some time, other than coming and going to the Enchantment Workshop I was frequenting, I also make time to spar with Mereoleona and Jack.

With Mereoleona’s backing and the mask that the workshop provided me, this escaped convict, me, still remains free to this date.

After a couple of months just like that, Mereoleona cannot take it anymore. “What are we doing? Training and training and training. While I love to train, isn’t it supposed to be time already for us to make progress? What are we even waiting for from the workshop?”

In a wide clearing hidden in the forest, a free three-way sparring is happening. Jack nonchalantly answers back to Mereoleona. “I have no complaints, getting stronger is the best! kekekeke~”

Mereoleona is greatly annoyed. “You fool! You cannot even hold a candle to me! And you, Aaron? Why are you so weak?”

“Hehehe,” I awkwardly laugh. “Chill, this is the last time we’ll do this special training, and don’t be like that, big sister Mereo~ you are getting stronger too, right? It is not like I became weak, your rate of growth is just insane!”

Thankfully, I was able to calm the beast by praising it. Sigh… In the short two months, I am accompanying these two, I was able to see more of their other faces

For example, Jack is actually a heavy sleeper, and Mereoleona is a loud snorer. This becomes more evident when we camp outdoors to do our spars and training. At first, it was just light sparring, something to lighten up the mood.

But because Mereoleona and Jack is feeling that it is too boring, they made it into full-blown training. With my input, their training has become more advanced and optimized.

Now, this training shall stop. “Let’s go. Accompany me, you two, to the workshop. I ordered some things there for us.”

Standing in front of us is a very familiar old man, it was teacher Drouot. “Good day to you ladies and gentlemen.”

One of the reasons I insist on coming to the self-proclaimed best Enchantment Workshop is so that I can talk with this old man. Aside from the magical discussions enriching my knowledge, this dear teacher of mine is also providing me with the necessary intel for our soon-to-be adventure.

I observe Mereoleona. It looks like she is not acquainted with teacher Drouot.

Drouot continues in his presentation. Covering three tables in front of us is a white cloth. Drouot glances at Jack, and with a smile, he reveals the first item by removing the first cloth. “For the first article, these leggings with black and light green motif improves dexterity and power. It is enchanted to reduce friction when moving, and also, it quickly amplifies the release of magic. Paired with this are these quadruple bracelets. These four separate bracelets are a set that amplifies magic recovery, magic circulation, mana detection, and stamina recovery.”

In a single breath, Drouot explains what the items are capable of. Jack’s eyes are shining with greed. Even without telling him, the guy approaches the items and immediately wears them for himself.

Drouot without missing a beat continues his presentation by removing the second cloth revealing the two items. “This purple sash here helps to inhibit mana. That means no mana will be wasted when you use magic. Moreover, this sash can also serve as an extra layer of protection with its inhibition properties. Also, other than this sash, please take a look at this long stylish red cape. With this, you’d be able to feel the fire elements more intimately and strongly. To be frank, these two items have a synergistic effect which is just the best. You see, they have a set effect: you’ll never be burned by your own flames no matter how hot they get! Isn’t that great?”

Mereolona sighs in disappointment. “Is this even real strength? Relying on Magic Items is a bit… Don’t you think this is too overkill?” She looks at me, thinking that maybe she just wasted a month of her life.

Drouot’s pride is hurt, so he cannot help himself but be angry. “You nincompoop!”
