His left eye was closed. His right eye was squinted while he held a pencil in front of his wall as a reference. Although he wasn’t an artist of any sort, he imagined that this might spur his own imagination. It didn’t.
Perhaps if he had received art lessons the results would have changed.
To his left, there was a blank notebook. To his right, there was his computer.
There were perhaps thirty tabs open on his computer. Photos of all types. Ranging from buildings, his crush, and his cat, they were all options for him.
But yet again, he didn’t write today. He aimlessly clicked through his options, each seeming to be good enough to consider, but nothing exceptional. While he was deep in thought, his right hand-picked at the dead skin on his lips.
It had been half a month since Johnathan had begun his project. It had been thirteen days since he had made any progress.
It was just another mundane day.

Jonathan’s room was mundane. Simply put, there was no style or taste in his room. Nothing significant to decorate his room beside a single fake plant. All he had in his room were the essentials. A bed, a desk, a computer, and other miscellaneous items.
The only notable sign of any personality was how neat the room was. A microscope would be required to find a speck of dust or a misplaced item. Everything was perfectly organized, just as Johnathan intended.
But other than that, it was just another room.

His high school life was equally bleak. He was one year removed from college, so his academic life was quiet. He was taking the minimum amount of moderately difficult classes. His friends, on the other hand, had a schedule filled with the most difficult of classes.
He spent the majority of his school day alone and reading. The school blocked most sites online, so he had downloaded numerous chapters the night before. His first and second classes were relatively easy, as he had a 99 and 98 respectively with minimal effort.
His third and fourth classes were moderately hard, but each only required roughly an hour of studying. After that, he could choose to eat lunch at school or go home. Either way, his schedule was already perfectly set and his choices were insignificant as long as he simply maintained them.
Today, he chose to eat lunch at school.

A collection of familiar faces greeted Johnathan. The was acquainted with most, but friends with none. He sat beside two of his acquaintances, and quietly listened as they talked about the latest drama, test, or bizarre hypothetical they came up with.
Occasionally, there would be a topic that Johnathan was intrigued by, but they never lasted long. He didn’t speak much, as he deemed the other topics too boring and beneath him.
He checked his watch, it was 12:56 am. At around 1:15 pm he would go buy lunch, eat for 15 minutes, and then go home.

The next 19 minutes could not have been longer. Johnathan’s upper eyelid began courting his lower eyelid. There was perhaps nothing more boring than a conversation about a single person, led by themselves, and for themselves.
Surely there was something better to do than inflate someone’s fragile ego.
Johnathan would have played his role as an honorary armchair psychologist, but he didn’t want to ruin the delicate bond that he had with the group.
It was a school day, like any other.

After being picked up by his mother, Johnathan went to the gym. He lifted weights without passion and without a reason.
It was just another part of his day.

Johnathan was at home. He had a mild about of schoolwork, but it wasn’t due soon. He had nothing to do, and no one to talk to. He didn’t particularly enjoy being home, but it was part of his schedule.

It was 2:39 am. He had accomplished nothing in the time, besides aimlessly watching YouTube, and reading novels and manga. In his bed, he thought of all the possibilities he could have changed. Of all the blessings he had to live such a comfortable and mundane life. If only someone could make it interesting.
