Jiraiya stared at the massive bowl of meat with wide eyes. He then looked at the skinny girl next to him and thought for a moment. "Good choice. You need as much meat as you can possibly get right now." He then turned to the shop owner and yelled out: "Teuchi, one miso tonkotsu and a meat special for the little lady."
Yuki was happy that she was able to get the one she wanted. She swung her legs back and forth while she watched the guy, Teuchi, go about his work. But her mood was soon ruined by a certain brat. "Hah! You must really be a monster to be able to eat all of that. Look how small you are!"
"Naruto enough! She is under my care, and I will not allow you to talk like this to her." Yuki raised her head and looked at Jiraiya. She was quite surprised at how he was so willing to defend her like this.
Naruto, on the other hand, had a sour face on and glared at Yuki, which Yuki ignored. She saw no need to care about what this brat thought of her. "Jiraiya is right, Naruto. You shouldn't pick on a little girl. That is not how a man should act."
Yuki looked up at Teuchi curiously: 'Oh? It seems that this Teuchi guy is looking out for the brat. I wonder if he realizes this….' Yuki looked at the downcast face of the brat and sighed while shaking her head.
'He may be an orphan, but he not only has Jiraiya looking out for him but also the man who owns this shop. He is much more well off than the others.' Yuki knew she could say something about the situation, but with how quiet the brat was being, she decided to ignore it all. She turned and lifted her chopsticks and grabbed a piece of meat from her bowl. Once she put it in her mouth, though, the thoughts she had about bland food in this strange place that she found herself in all went out the window. Before she realized it, the whole bowl was empty, and she was reaching out with her hand: "Another bowl, please!"
Jiraiya's chin almost hit the ground. He had no idea where all that food just went. He only turned around for a second, and now the little girl was asking for more. This was just…. He looked at the price of the bowl she had just eaten and sighed. 'I will need to ask sensei for more money….'
After filling her belly, Yuki felt much better. She not only felt really full, but also full of energy. Luckily the walk back would take a bit, so she could easily walk off most of her meal and let her stomach digest it properly.
A little while later, Yuki found herself sitting in the living area in front of Jiraiya. Jiraiya had a serious expression on his face as he said: "Go ahead and ask any questions you want to know."
"I will say first that my questions may sound a little strange, but they must be asked." Yuki knew that what she was about to ask would make her seem like a lunatic, but she had no choice. She had to get a grasp on the situation she was in.
"I would not be sitting down to have this conversation with a four year old if I did not notice your peculiarities. I have not grown to this age and not tell something was off with you to start with. Sarutobi sensei might not have noticed, but I have as soon as I laid eyes on you. Your eyes are not the eyes of a child. I will not ask what you do not want to tell, but I will only say this. As long as you do not betray Konoha, I will stand by your side." Jiraiya felt that the little girl was off, but he did not feel any hate from her. Only curiosity and the will to become strong. This was why he did not say anything until now. He had looked into Yuki's background and found out she was just an orphan like all others until she got sick and snow began to accumulate around her. When he saw the way she reacted around Naruto when he called her a monster, instead of snapping back or crying, she was cautious not to accidentally scare the kids anymore than she had. On top of that, she was overly quiet, as if analyzing her situation.
This was one of the reasons why he decided to take her under his wing. To watch over her and to also help her grow stronger so she could one day benefit Konoha. He would not live forever, and if she can actually rise up to Konoha's defense once she gains control of her snow powers, then he could not wish for a better outcome.
"So you did realize." Yuki nodded her head. She figured he would figure it out sooner or later. After all, she was not acting like a normal four year old would. "Then I will just come out and ask. Is this world Earth? And how many continents are in this world."
"This is Earth. As for continents, there are a few. But I do not know the exact number." Jiraiya answered honestly.
"I see…" Yuki's shoulders slipped down. She now knew for sure that she was not on her homeworld. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before slowly letting it out to allow her emotions to calm down. "Then, whatever training you wish me to undergo, I will do it as long as you do not force me to harm those who are good. And it is not a crime. As for an explanation, I can only say that I think the body I am in is a girl who had died before I took it over. I am not sure of anything else other than I died in the flames of fire when I was sixteen on my old world."
