It had bothered him to live in the same space as Fu Sichen. But finally, he had managed to get out. Just to be safe, Pei Zhen still preferred to maintain a line of communication with his manager.
That’s right.
He had never been religious before. But now, after turning into a cat, it was hard not to believe in some kind of higher power. Whether it be burning some incense or drinking holy water, he didn’t care! Anything was okay with him as long as it could turn him back into a human!
Given that his parents were overseas, he would feel better if he entrusted certain things, like hiring a priest or a shaman, to his manager.
Pei Zhen called out once, but Xiao Nian didn’t notice. He trotted ahead and called out for a second time. “Meow.”
“It’s you?” Xiao Nian turned around, saw the Persian cat, and frowned slightly. “That little jinx?”
Pei Zhen looked up sullenly.
Okay, okay. So this was the cat that had gotten Pei Zhen into the accident in the first place. Pei Zhen didn’t have the energy to get worked up. He saw that Xiao Nian had opened the car door. He immediately jumped into the backseat.
“Hey! A cat!” The female assistant drove up. She clearly liked furry things. She squealed in delight when she saw the white ball of fur, “So cute!”
“It’s not like being cute is worth anything.” Xiao Nian thought of Pei Zhen, and inevitably felt negative towards the cat. Seeing the cat in his car made him tremble with anger. “It was because of this cat that Pei Zhen is in a coma now. Get it out of the car.”
Even though Xiao Nian wouldn’t hit him or anything, he still preferred to keep a distance with the cat. He bent over, stuck his hand into the car, and yanked the cat out. “Get out.”
“It’s me, your Daddy Pei Zhen!”
Pei Zhen came looking for Xiao Nian because he needed help. He wasn’t going to leave just like that. The moment Xiao Nian’s hand came towards him again, he brandished his claws, and waved them at Xiao Nian angrily.
The backseat was narrow and was poorly suited for fighting. Xiao Nian was getting angry as well because he couldn’t capture the animal. Pulling up his sleeves, he threatened, “Arghhh, I’ll be damned if I can’t catch you!”

Xiao Nian climbed into the car on his hands and feet. Pei Zhen was cornered. Just as Xiao Nian was about to lay his hands on the cat, the assistant in the driver’s seat shouted in a panic, “Reporters!”
Without giving Xiao Nian a chance to react, the assistant stepped on the accelerator, and headed out at top speed.
The sudden acceleration caused Xiao Nian’s head to hit against the back of the front seat. He yelled out in pain. This gave the helpless Pei Zhen a chance to vent. Feeling a little evil, Pei Zhen added a few scratches for good measure.
Unfilial son, is this how you treat your Daddy!
It took a while for the commotion in the car to come to an end. Xiao Nian was still howling pathetically. He glanced at the assistant in the front seat. Obviously frightened, she gave a nervous laugh but focused on the road straight ahead.
Pei Zhen was feeling quite smug, and leaned against the car door— just like a boss, he stared at Xiao Nian and smirked at him.
The Great Manager Xiao was so angry that he felt like committing animal abuse. Staring straight into the Persian cat’s eyes, he raised his hands. Then, as if possessed, he suddenly felt like he couldn’t follow through.
How strange.
Xiao Nian was puzzled. He looked away uneasily, but found his gaze wandering back to the Persian cat time and time again.
Yes. It must be because this was the cat that Pei Zhen saved. That was why it bothered him so much.
Xiao Nian spent the rest of the journey in the car, trying to comfort himself. Finally, they arrived at the agency.
Xiao Nian got off the car. As expected, the cat followed them. With an agile jump, Pei Zhen landed directly on Xiao Nian’s head.
“You can go now.” Xiao Nian instructed the assistant, giving her the rest of the day off. He felt rather helpless about the weight on his head, but didn’t try to remove the cat. “It’s been quite a morning for you. You can come back tomorrow.”
The assistant was grateful and thanked Xiao Nian. He smiled, turned around, and walked towards the office with the cat.
Just as Xiao Nian was about to enter the office, the cat started its evil antics once again.
