Chapter 4: GUILT.

I was terrified. I arrived at school to see a group of police officers waiting for us... Nessie and Cheryl Were acting as usual... Pretending they didn't know anything... Nessie even threatened me. "DON'T SAY ANYTHING, SLAVE. OR ELSE."

I was taken into the principal's office... he was protesting, because his beloved niece couldn't have done something so horrible, And that "Mexican Bitch", as he called her, was lying... He shut up as i walked in... the Officer he'd been arguing with turned toward me.

"Teagan Sheppard? I am Officer Daniels. I want you to tell me what happened after school yesterday."

I was nervous... I was about to admit everything but... the principal mimed punching from behind the man.

"N... nothing happened."

"Listen, Teagan... Don't be afraid, no-one will hurt you. i promise. We have a written description of the events, because Reina Diaz Attempted Suicide yesterday. She very nearly succeeded, and is now in a coma, but her suicide note was very clear. Now please, child. What happened yeterday?"

Suicide? She tried to... and its our fault... i... I broke. I didn't care anymore that nessies father was both of my mom's boss, or If the school found out my father was in prison... I couldn't stand the guilt... So i came clean, i told him EVERYTHING... Not just what happened with Reina, but Also what she said to poor Colleen, and the way she threatened me, and bullied anyone she thought was prettier than she was... I knew my testimony wouldn't amount to much, against Nessies family... but then my cell buzzed... And she hammered the nails into her own coffin. I showed the officer, and he took my phone as evidence... We were all three arrested, I was charged as accessory to rape, but being a minor, and helping solve the case, Id probably get away with a light sentence... my moms were very mad at me.

Nessie: can you believe that slut FAILED to off herself? Stupid Bitch cant do anything right.

Nessie: Are you still being interviewed. say nothing, or else.

Six months later, I was charged as an unwilling accessory and was fined $500 and given three months community service.

Cheryl received a rape charge, and six months in a juvenile detention facility, And was expelled from the school.

In addition to Expulsion, Nessie was Tried as an adult, and showed no remorse... she got two years in a federal penitentiary, And would have gotten more, but she gave up information about her mother and uncles backroom dealing, and ties to drug runners and human traffickers. Both were given 20 years. Her father, Colm, Was greatly shocked, Disappointed in his daughter, And immediately divorced her mother... He paid all of Reinas Medical Bills.

Reina recovered from her coma, and I apologized for my role in what happened... but she was different... She'd received permanent damage to her brain... Shed be a child, mentally, For the rest of her life... And its My fault, At least in part... I Helped Cause this... And I'll live with the guilt forever, a black stain on my soul.
