I'm gonna lead my squad? Should I be honored??

I noticed the surroundings people's reaction and saw that they were sneering...

I had no idea why...

"Ten people will be transferred to be under your command soon, stay put"

I asked Bethany about what was going on...

"Hmm master, I heard that the army's funds is currently lacking soo..."

"So what?" I tilted my head, oblivious.

What?! It means that the army doesn't have enough funds so they transfer people for me and make me pay for their expenses!?

Soon ten young men, in crude leather armor appeared before me.

Someone stepped forward and he looked at me awkwardly...

"Ahem, Kevin reporting sir!"

Seeing the young men in front of me that was probably all in their early twenties I was speechless.

"Tell me, Kevin, how long have you been training here?"

Kevin who had freckles on his face, brown hair and eyes, and about 1.8 m gall answered.

"Six months sir!"

Six months?? What could six months of training do? It's not like these was the modern world.

I sigh and thought things isn't probably that bad...

"Grabbed your sword, well train for a bit.."

Then the ten men smiled wryly as Kevin responded...

"Umm, sir we don't have weapons, sir!"

I was incredulous. "How about armor??"

"Sir we are wearing them now!"

A frown appeared on my face seeing my squad broke. The army didn't even provides them with armor and weapons. Does that mean I'll have to buy them with my own money??

Hell no!

Forget it, there was nothing wrong with doing this solo. 

Although I highly doubt a single person could change the situation.

"Forget it, what could you guys do? We should just disband the squad"

Just as I said that someone spoke.

"Really? Did I hear that right?"

I turn towards the sound of the voice and saw Clive with a provoking smile along with another knight in fancy armor.

"As you are now a ten-man commander registered to the army, disbanding your squad on your own accord is against the army, hence you will be punished"

There's that something like that? Yeah, I should probably learn the rules of the army first.

"What's wrong? I thought you wanted to become a noble? You need a lot of people at least to make a difference, should I assign more people to you?"

What again did I do to this guy? I don't remember and I don't care so while he was still babbling on, I headed to the mission hall.

"You should- hey!"

"Stop it" the man next to him just shook his head as if disappointed and left Clive's side.

Clive felt indignant at the man's disappointment.

"Hmnn...." I put my hand on my chin as I stared at the mission posted on the board...

Most of them were scouting and destroying of enemy camps.

Although there is only one flat path on the south, it doesn't stop forces from making a camp in the mountains.

I also saw the merits point I could earn. Merit points are recorded after finishing a job and is used to exchange for things, however since the army is lacking funds, merit points will only be recorded for now and can only be exchange when things got better.

Seems like a terrible reward system. How could the Count order a lot of people without giving them anything...

I wondered why would anyone even do this.

"You're the heathen right? We're the Bull mercenary party. I'm Jacob, the leader"

The bald man named Jacob said with a deep voice and a small smile.

"Oh Jordan, this Bethany and Eliza"

A strange expression appeared on their face when they saw his subordinates in chains..

"Slaves..." One of them mumbled as a dirty smile appeared on his face as he looked at me.

The bald man just nodded and said..."We're here to propose a cooperation." 

"What kind of cooperation?"

Jacob then pointed at one of the notice on the board...

"That"

[Spotted enemy camp! Estimated people 20-25. Bandits and scouts are suspected to be in camp. Location.....

Last date information: May 23....

Reward: 50merits once confirmed the camp is destroyed or occupied.]
