“Ah... my legs are shaking,” I muttered under my breath as I leaned back against the wall.
I was just outside the shipping center entrance, waiting for a certain someone to arrive.
It was a Saturday, the start of a new weekend. However, I can’t remember much of what happened yesterday when I was sick. When I opened my chat box with her, I saw she had invited me to go out.
Alisa practically invited me on a ‘date,’ didn’t she? I thought.
No, to her, this might just be a regular outing with her cousin.
As I pondered what Alisa meant when she invited me out here to have fun, I could feel my heart racing at the thought of going on an actual date with her.
“Thanks for waiting...!” Suddenly, I hear her call me out from a short distance.
“Ah...” I uttered, dumbfounded as I turned my head in her direction.
Alisa wore a blue-checkered hen crisscross back dress exposing her smooth bare shoulders while her hair was tied to two short pigtails that barely reached her shoulders.
I was taken aback by her outfit as she looked breathtakingly beautiful in my eyes.
I made a mistake. I thought as I glanced down at my own outfit.
Half-thinking that this was going it be a date and Half-thinking that this was just going to be us having fun as cousins.
I wore the most professional-looking black jogging pants combined with a plain white t-shirt and an open Hawaiian shirt.
“...” I sighed.
I’m already here; there’s no point in changing my clothes. I resigned myself to those thoughts as I breathed in and out, then faced Alisa, who was approaching me.
“Thanks for waiting...!” Alisa excitedly said with a bright smile. “I didn’t keep you waiting, did I?”
“No, I just got here myself,” I replied.
Honestly, I got here an hour early from the set time, but I don’t mind waiting that long for her; it’s the least I could do.
“That’s great, then let’s go, times a wastin!”
“Woah-” Alisa dragged me into the arm as we went inside the shopping center.
***
“So, what do you want to do first?” Alisa asked as she stopped dragging me and let go of my arm. “I know I’m the one who invited you out and all, but I’ll let you choose what we do first.”
“Uh…uhm…”
“You can’t choose?”
“No, no, just give me a moment to think….”
“Got it, just let me know if you want me to choose instead.”
Ah… this is my first hurdle. As I thought, the reality is different from visual novels; there’s no choice selection. I felt as if I was internally panicking.
Wait, isn’t it just about time for lunch?
“Do you want to have lunch first?” I asked.
“Yeah, I think that’s a great idea, I was just getting hungry too.”
“Ah yeah… where do you want to eat then?”
“I’m fine with anything,” Alisa replied.
“Oh okay…”
What’s a good restaurant for a date here…? I know I should’ve at least done some research before coming here, but her invite was just too sudden, and I was sick yesterday…
As I was thinking, an idea struck me.
“I figured it out….” I muttered softly under my breath.
“Hm?” Alisa uttered in confusion.
“Do you want to eat in the Vietnamese place upstairs?” I pitched her my idea.
“Sure, that’s sounds great, I think I haven’t been there in a while so I’m kind of craving the food they have.”
“Let’s go,” I voiced as I turned around while Alisa started to walk alongside me.
We then went out the way we came in and stepped on the escalator on the side of the entrance taking us to the 2nd floor of the shopping center, mainly filled with different restaurants and foods.
If I remember correctly, the arcade is also located here, so maybe we could have fun there after we eat.
This shopping center has various restaurants and food on both the second and first floors.

The first floor has a food court where you’ll find some familiar fast-food places along with some individual restaurants not a part of the food court, like a Taiwanese fried rice place or a café.
While the second floor mainly has individual restaurants, including Vietnamese, conveyor-belt sushi, ice cream, etc.
Simply put, the second floor is a bit more costly in terms of food but reasonably priced.
And so, after making our way to the second floor and to the Vietnamese restaurant I had in mind. We entered the restaurant and took the table with two seats next to the glass wall.
“Delicious…!” Alisa excitedly voiced as she stuffed food into her mouth. “I haven’t had this in forever…!”
“So, this is your favorite type of food?” I mentioned as I watched how she eats in a cute, gluttonous manner.
“…No, I like all kinds of food; I especially crave a lot of things if I haven’t had them in a while, like this,” Alisa gulped, then replied.
“Is that so… well, I’m more or less the same, haha….”
Alisa surprised me when we started ordering our food; I only ordered one main dish since I wasn’t that hungry; Alisa, on the other hand, began ordering like crazy.
Two main dishes, a single piece of Hainan bread and some roti. Even I can’t think of finishing all that in one sitting.
I started sweating when she said her out loud, but after the waitress left, Alisa turned to me and said, “Don’t worry about the cost; I’ll pay for what I eat.”
I felt pathetic as usual and wanted to cover the cost, but I’ll go broke if I tried to pay for all of these, so I reluctantly agreed.
I know it doesn’t have to be a rule when a man pays for their date, but I wanted to show her some goodwill since she asked me out after all.
“Oh really?” Alisa said.
“Yeah… I really like eating,” I responded.
“Who doesn’t like eating.”
“Yeah…” Well, on any note, I at least managed to know this side of her; I’ve got to set aside some funds if she asks me out on a date in the future again.
“You really love curry, don’t you?” Alisa commented.
“Hm?” I raised a brow, confused. “How’d you know?”
“At mean, at school whenever I pass by you during recess you always were eating curry.”
“Oh, well that is true… I really like curry,” I admitted. “There’s just taste to it that I can’t stop eating.”
“That’s true with a lot of food, like ribs, steak, and a lot of delicious meat,” As Alisa passionately talked about food, it was almost as if I could see her eyes sparkle.
“What’s your opinion on sweets?”
“Hm… I’m not really a big fan of sweets, I mean as a girl I eat them from time to time but… if I were to pick between meat and sweets, I’d definitely pick meat.”
“That makes sense, I’m somewhat the same as well. I can eat sweets, but I can’t handle a large amount of them, though I do think it’s nice to eat them just every once in a while.”
“Yeah, that’s it. Even though I don’t really like sweets, there’s just this indescribable feeling of only having a small amount of them.”
“I get it….”
“Really?”
“Yeah, they definitely taste really delicious if you eat them that way.”
“I know right!”
We were talking.
A whole and fun conversation between the both of us.
We had talked like this before when we hung out during lunch break, but instead of it feeling like a question n answer session, this feels like a real conversation.
One where we both contribute our own topics.
One where I don’t shy away from answering.
A date with Alisa was a scenario I laughed at in my fantasies, but I never would’ve imagined It’d happen.
In the back of my mind, there’s a thought that this might be a dream and yet another one of my absurd delusions. Still, even if it is, I can return to that pitiful thing I call ‘being alone’ without any regrets.
This is something that I don’t deserve, and yet life gave it to me.
All of this was made possible because of the devil I coincidentally met.
Demon king Lilith.
At first, I was suspicious of her, but now, I’m just grateful; I’m thankful that she gave me this opportunity.
I might only be in a temporary contract right now, but the price of continuing to have these eyes, no matter what, I’ll take it to repay my debt to her.
Then… let the date begin.
