How can I go back 'home'?
The crab stared at its leg, yet again, to try and replicate what it had done earlier. It inspected a droplet and was taken to a different place.
With a sensation of sinking into ocean waves, a host of scents revealed themselves to the crab.
This time, however, it was not the new and familiar scents of the calm beach. Instead, the crab found itself in a different, new ‘home.’
It smelled like the beginning of the Long Sleep.
Yes, it smelled of home. Yet, even then, a sense of encroaching frost and dim days were whispered with every breath of the wind.
The Long Sleep?
Yes, the crab itself did not sleep. It seemed, however, that its other body now had that issue.
The crab enjoyed this new and foreign sensation. It appeared that this body, too, had not had its ‘Long Sleep’ before. It was missing that unusual feeling of ‘new familiarity.’
Now, it listened to its instincts and marveled at the fact that its own limbs were moving without its control.
Yet again, as it had but a few seconds-millenia ago, the crab took control over its leg.
It lifted it and it looked.
This time, the leg was colorful. Orange.
Supposedly.
It appeared gray to its eyes.
Nonetheless, the crab noticed that there were no webs or droplets that it could see.
Perhaps I am unique amongst crabs? The lack of 'droplets' is different.

If only there were someone to ask.
The crab mused about its own uniqueness for quite some time before resuming its instinct-driven tasks. That is, digging through the somewhat coarse of this beach.
Some time later, the crab had completely burrowed into the sand, with only its upper body slightly exposed on the sand.
Listening to both the call of its instincts and the warning breaths of the incoming chill, the crab began to drift to a sleep, surrounded by the sound of the waves and cool sand.

Warmth.
The earth began to warm.
The crab awoke, slowly.
The compound eyes on its eyestalks began to gather information through photons.
Electric pulses traveled from its many ommatidia traveled through its nerves and to its collection of nerve cells.
With it, came sight.
With sight, came a landscape of a warm winter.
Strange. Something is strange.
The crab’s instincts were conflicted. It was winter, the biting chill of ice and snow, the Long Sleep. At the same time, it was warm.
Warm? It is winter. It cannot be warm now. Spring is when it is warm.
Regardless of the crab's instincts, the fact that it was now warm in the typically frigid winter was an undeniable fact. And so, with that realization in mind, the crab gathered its thoughts and decided to investigate. Perhaps it would discover that it was, indeed, Spring?
