Fan Xui just silently stood there. "I am not a kidnapper, sir." There was not an answer to his whisper. "Sir?" he tapped the lump on the ground with his stick.
The person remained unmoving and was slightly panting.
"Sir." he knelt down and randomly touched him. He found a wrist and checked his pulse. His heart was beating too fast. "Sir, I will call you an ambulance. Please hold on." he patted his right pocket and reached out to his phone.
"Siri, call 119,"
"Gladly, Mister Fan," the mechanical voice whispered. Soon his call connected. "Hello, yes, there is an unconscious person on the road. Wait a minute, I will share you my location,"
His phone automatically shared his location with the ambulance service.
"A dispatch is arriving at your locations shortly but can you please stay online and explain the patient's symptoms to us,"
"Wait a moment." Fan Xui felt around and found the face. His hand could trace a smooth butter like skin and a soft lip. But as he went down, he felt the subtle stubble of a shaved face. "It's a young man. Probably around 18 to 25. He seems to be panting softly. His heart rate is very fast as well,"
"Good sire, please make sure the patient is in a well-ventilated area and is laying comfortably on their side. Do you see any kind of Id card on him or in his wallet?"
"Let me check." he just rolled the unconscious man to his side and made sure to check his pockets. He only had some money and didn't even carry a phone. "He doesn't have a wallet or a phone."
"Oh, that's all, sir. Please wait for a while the dispatch is just five minutes from you."
As soon as he said this, he heard a sharp ambulance wailing sound in the distance up ahead. He stood up and waved to them.
The van stopped in front, and someone disembarked. "Bring the stretcher. Quick." the lead emergency medical responder order.
"Sir, thank you for calling us. Do you know this person, or do you know anyone we can contact?"
Fan Xui shook his head. "I don't know him. Which hospital are you going to be taking him?"
"To the S hospital, it's nearby."
"Then can I come as well," Fan Xui whispered with a frown.
"Yes, sure, if you wish to." the medical responders swiftly pushed the stretcher inside the van and called for him.
Fan Xui unwound his guide stick and walked in the general direction.
"Sir, let me help you," the responder reached out to him, but Fan evaded his touch.
"Thank you for the offer but I can go by myself." he got into the ambulance and sat on an uncomfortable plastic seat.
He touched his suit pants to find a small cringle near his knees. He proceeded to pat the dusk away and tried to fix it much as he could.
"Its nice of you to accompany him." the responder whispered softly. "At least there are caring strangers in this world,"
Fan Xui looked towards the direction of his voice. "But I was on the way to S hospital myself."
"Oh, mind if I ask, are there any of your relatives there," the man whispered in a hesitant tone.
"No, my surgery is scheduled for tonight." He remained silent after that. His phone chimed again and again. "Siri, silence my phone,"
"Silenced, mister Fan, may I be of any assistance," the mechanical voice said.
"No, nothing as of now." he easily placed his phone inside his right coat pocket and folded his hand over his lap.
Only silent beeping and soft panting filed the small ambulance. He frowned a little and sniffed his hand. It smelt slightly like roses. Not the artificial one, but of fresh roses. The scent was very subtle, but his superior senses picked it up instantly. As well as a slightly sweet and sour scent of pork. 'He had pork and roses?'
His mind worked a little, thinking about the possibilities. He could only come up with a logical reasoning. 'He must work with roses. Is he a delivery guy or was he taking flowers for his loved ones? Must be one of the two. His jacket was poorly made too.'
Zou Yue, who was wearing manager Mu's jacket, was gravely mistaken for a flower delivery guy.
The ambulance reached the hospital swiftly, and the stretcher was lowered carefully. Fan Xui expanded his stick and jumped down. "Thank you so much for taking me here. As for this man's hospital bill, I shall take care of it," he coolly entered the hospital, leaving the baffled medical responder behind.
A familiar nurse saw him and helped him find his operation room. While he was following after her, he felt someone walk closer. It was a familiar musky and citric scent. He instantly moved away.
"Brother, didn't expect you to come here," he said to the person who was silently walking next to him.
"Of course I should be here for you when you need me." the man said softly.
But Fan Xui could pick up his cynical tone. "I am thankful for your support but his operating is a very long one. Brother might not be able to handle waiting around."
"Um, but I would. Little Fan, why did you come in an ambulance is everything okay? I already arranged for a driver for you."
Fan Xui turned towards the general direction of the voice and coldly whispered, "My assistant had an emergency work to attend to in the office so I let him take the car."
The nurse interrupted them. "We are here. Relatives of the patient please wait outside while the patient talks with the doctor," she kindly whispered.
"Gladly miss," his brother Bai Xiaolin said.
Fan walked inside the consultation room and sat down on the familiar chair. "Doctor K, how are my reports?"
"They are good; we shall have your surgery today." But he hesitated a bit. "Do you know that someone tried to tamper with your health reports but thankfully one of our janitors noticed this and informed us."
"It's good then. Thank you so much for everything doctor." He stood up and bowed deeply.
He heard a soft sigh. "Whoever you offended is going to come for your life, aren't you afraid, young man?"
"Life is too short to be afraid of death." He said and left to the designated room arranged before surgery.
As he was waiting, he got a call from an unknown number. His phone connected automatically. "Sir, is this mister Fan Xui?"
"Yes, who might this be?"
"We are calling from S hospital, do you know of a Hai Gu?"
Just as he heard the soft voice, his heart almost stopped. "Yes," he whispered, waiting for her reply.
"I'm sorry to inform you sir, he has passed away."
His grip on his phone tightened. "May I know how?"
"Car accident. The authorities informed us that the brakes failed unexpectedly,"
