"Ring... ring...." the dial tone rang as Zou Yue waited for the person to pick up.
"Fan Xui," the person answered in a stern tone.
"!!!!" Zou Yue tightly gripped his phone. 'Oh, my god his voice sounds so cold. Did I disturb him? shit What do I say.....'
"Who is this?" the person on the other side seemed annoyed by his silence.
"It's Zou.. Zou Yue. I.. I was just calling to see if you were free this Friday, if so.... are you free for dinner?" it took a lot of courage to say those words.
All of a sudden, there was a loud noise on the other side of the receiver.
"Is everything okay? Fan Xui?"
"e—verything is fine," the voice sounded hoarse and panting. "My hand slipped, that's all,"
"Oh... can we meet up?" he anxiously waited for his reply. His mother was sitting right next to him, giving him a thumbs up.
"I would love to meet up. Do.. do you want me to make the reservations? There is a new restaurant near my place that serves very good steak."
"That sounds good, but I was calling to ask if you would like to have dinner at my place." Zou Yue tightly griped his sheets.
"Your.... your place? Oh, that sounds great. Your parents are lovely, might I add,"
"Yeah, they seem to like you a lot. You know my mum is readying herself to prepare the feast of the year." He rolled over onto his tummy and slammed his face onto the pillow.
"That sounds great. She cooks very well. The last time I had her meals, I was left with nostalgia for homemade food." he let out a breathy chuckle.
"I know, right? I missed her meal so much when I was in S city." He mumbled, flaying his legs up in the air. He could hear the subtle sound of fluttering paper from the other side. "Sorry, did I disturb your work?"
"No, I was taking a break." Fan Xui softly whispered.
Just hearing his soft voice, Zou Yue shuddered. "o—okay... I'll see you on Friday then." Without waiting for his reply, he cut the call.
"How was it? Did he agree?" his mother whispered anxiously.
"Yes..." his muffled voice came from the pillow.
"That's awesome!! Baby, don't sleep like that dear, you might suffocate," she caressed his hair and left the room.
Only after that did Zou Yue lift his head. His face was completely pink and flushed and his body was hot. "I should remind myself never to call him again. That voice is dangerous indeed."
He glanced down at his crotch. Well.. he was standing for attention.
"My mother was here.... goodness this is so embarrassing." he cried hugging the pillow to his face.
The phone rang again. He flinched back a little. But with trembling hands, he picked it up.
"hello?"
"Hey little punk! What took you so long to answer!" a high-pitched voice shouted from the other side.
"Peng Peng!" he sat with a wide smile on his face. "Peng Peng, I miss you so much~~"
"Shut up brat, don't sprout lies. If you had missed me, you would have called." Peng Peng sounded cheery, as always.
Just hearing his voice gave him a boost of serotonin. As an added bonus, the weird heat in his body disappeared instantly.
"You free today?"
"Yeah, I am always free. Don't you know that I'm jobless," Yue rolled the sheets around him tightly to fight away the cold.
"As far as I remember, you were on a break. You still got to do your job after this month, yeah?" he grumbled softly.
"Yeah, yeah," Zou Yue rolled his eyes. The world is going to change after that. Modelling job? Those are going to go extinct.
"Tonight come to 'Midnight blast' at 10. It's been too long since we partied," Peng Peng chuckled.
Zou Yue frowned. Midnight blast was a bar that was quite close to fan Xui's office; he had passed by it sometimes when he went to that bakery. "Wait, a minute! Are you in G city?"
"Yeah bitch!!! Are you happy now? You won't have to miss me every day."
"Oh, my god! That's awesome!!" Zou Yue jumped around happily. "Now that you are here, what about manager mu, is he moving too?"
"He has to." He scoffed.
"Why do you say that?" Zou Yue frowned as he opened the closet. His clothes were neatly arranged. He started to pick a neutral outfit for his night out.
"Because our whole company is moving to G city. Oh kid, you don't know most of it. A month after you took your break, this big ass corporation brought our company over and now we are also part of it. Hurray, hurray, but the sad part is the company headquarters are quite close to the border of the city. Now we all have to stay out of the city in the rural areas. No night life boohoo,"
"Wait Peng Peng, you guys are all moving here!! Oh my god, I'll help you rent a place!!!!"
"Yeah, of course you have to. Who else can I rely on? Either way, come soon, okay I'll be waiting out the door,"
"Got it," Zou Yue happily pulled out a black shirt and a black form fitting pants. While looking at himself in the mirror, he called someone again. "Uncle Bo? Yeah, this is Zou Yue do you remember?"
"Yeah kid, what's up?"
"I need a help. My friends might be moving here can you let me know if there are any vacancies near my place. The house should be close to the military compound," he mumbled, placing all his clothes on the bed.
"I'll ask my cousin and let you know by tomorrow morning. Is that okay?'"
"That's more than okay. Thank you so much uncle,"
"Geez, I am not an uncle kid."
"But you are compared to my age, though," he giggled. Uncle Bohai cut the call on his side. "He-he, it's fun messing with him."
He ran out of the room to his parents. "Mum, dad, I might come home late today. Is that okay?"
"Where are you going? Are you going to meet that Fan Xui?" his father frowned slightly.
"Really, are you going with little fan," his mother excitedly glanced at him.
"No, I am going to meet Peng Peng. He is moving here this month. It's so good," he squealed.
His mother pouted. "Fine, drink responsibly. I don't want your puke all over the nice floorboard,"
