Edward looked up at the wolf towering over him and lost control of his bowel movement once again. With a stutter, he said: “You.. It was real… Dead.. All dead.. I killed them..”
The wolf appeared to smile, a smile that displayed all it’s sharp teeth, a scene so horrifying that if Edward had any more liquids he could release he would.
“Now you believe me, little human host. We’re going to be having fun together, won’t we?”
The wolf’s voice was still pleasant to the ears, but the smile on it’s face gave it’s words a different meaning, a meaning Edward understood. He crawled away from the wolf, making sure to maintain eye contact, until he felt he was far enough to feel safe, at least safer, before saying: “What are you? Who are you? Why did you do this to me?”
“Hehe, why are you implying I did something bad to you? I saved your life.”
Edward frowned at the wolf’s words and said: “Wha.. What are taking about?”
“Don’t you remember? That wolf that attacked and bit you as you were passing through the park?”
The memories from when he was bitten by a big dog came back to him as he asked in shock: “That dog was a wolf? Was it you? Is that when you did this to me?”
The wolf shook it’s head and said: “It wasn’t me. It was a simple wolf, but that simple wolf already had the curse inside it’s body. Once it bit you, the curse got transferred to you and since your body was too weak to hold the curse, you died.”
“I died?” asked Edward, more horrified by each word that came out of the wolf’s mouth.
“Yes, you did. Well, sort of. Just before your soul was about to leave your body, I fused my soul with yours and transported both our souls to another world. Here, I found a decent body, strong enough to tolerate the curse but a weak soul and, after devouring said soul, I made this body our home. Aren’t you happy? We’re going to have so much fun in this new world.”
“You’re crazy.” Said Edward as he started understanding more about this wolf. No matter how pleasant and mesmerizing it’s voice was, it was indeed a monster. A bloodthirsty, violent monster.
The wolf shook it’s giant head and replied: “I’m not crazy. I told you, this was the only way I could save your life. If you would have simply died, I would have had to possess another wolf and this was my chance at a human host so I took it.”
“It would have been better dead. You killed an innocent person just so you could have fun possessing a human body.” Said Edward with a face full of injustice.
The wolf chuckled at his words and said: “Who are you trying to fool with those justice filled words? Did you forget that our souls have already fused together? I could feel your joy when I told you that you were still alive. I only did what it took to preserve your life and give myself a chance at my long awaited revenge.”
Edward covered his face with his hands and tried to convince himself that all this was a lie, a dream, but deep inside he knew that the wolf was telling the truth, both about the fact that it did indeed save his life and about the fact that he was happy to find out he was not dead, even if another innocent man had to die for that to happen.
Eventually, he managed to calm down slightly and was about to say something else, before the wolf interrupted: “Next time you visit. Our time is over once again.”
This time, Edward woke up inside a forest laying down on the body of a dead gigantic bear. He looked at the bear with an incredulous expression as he muttered to himself: “This wolf thing sure is strong. This bear looks like it would fit at least twenty of me in it’s stomach alone..”
Standing up, he looked around the place and noticed a trail of blood leading in one direction.
“That must be the way the wolf came here. I didn’t realize it that last time, but that poor bastard Neil must be dead already.”
“Sigh….”
“Well, he did it with his own hands. Who made him knock me unconscious?”
Edward took a seat by resting his back on the trunk of a tree and started thinking about what he should do next.
“What do I know? Hmmmm.. I’m on a different world, in a different body. I’m some kind of wolf that turns when he’s unconscious or asleep.”
Looking at the huge bear in front of him he added: “This fucking world is not normal either. That bear is the size of a small house. I haven’t heard of a bear growing to that size, so there’s that as well…”
“I guess I’ll have to speak to the wolf girl once more…” said Edward as he turned around and looked at the tree behind him with a pained look.
“No pain, no gain.” Were his last words as he rammed his head against the tree as hard as he could.
Waking up under the wolf girl again, he looked at her front feet and asked: “Why are you always standing? Can’t you lay down or something? Don’t you ever get tired?”
“My spiritual body lays down and sleeps as long as you are awake. As the curse activates and it takes over your body, my spiritual body also stands up.”
“Why?”
“Is that really what you should be asking me right now? Why do you even care about that?”
Edward shrugged his shoulders and continued waiting for an answer. The wolf girl let out a sigh and said: “Because this spectral body that you see in front of you is what controls your body in the real world and only wakes up when you fall asleep or unconscious. It’s actually the body the curse and I reside in.”
Edward nodded and said: “You’re right, I don’t really care. Do you have a name?”
“Yes, I do. I haven’t used it in a long time, but my name used to be Fenrir.”
“Huh? Fenrir? Like the wolf who was said to devour the god Odin during Ragnarok?”
“Yes, but one of his sons killed my body and, unable to destroy my soul as well, he placed a curse on it. He cursed my soul to suffer of a huger that is impossible to satiate. Once my soul got cursed, he threw it on the ruined Midgard and sealed it inside the body of a normal wolf. The curse passed from one wolf to the other, but no matter how many humans the wolf bit, they would all die. You were the only person ever bitten that didn’t suffer a death in body and soul. This was a development that not even Vidar probably expected.”
Edward took a moment to process everything before nodding and saying: “Is there a way to remove the curse?”
A fierce expression appeared in the wolf eyes as she said with a voice filled with hatred: “To kill and eat that bastard Vidar. My soul should be freed from his curse as soon as I devour him.”
The bloodlust coming out of Fenrir’s spectral body caused beads of sweat to appear on Edward’s forehead.
“B..but isn’t he like, the son of a God?”
“Once my strength comes back, I eat him just like I ate his bastard of a father.” Replied Fenrir as the bloodlust coming out of her body became even stronger. It would seem she also lost track of time because not long after she finished her statement, Edward awoke in the real world once more.
“Damn, this time is too short.” Said Edward exasperated as he rammed his head onto another tree nearby and appeared once again under Fenrir’s body.
“Let’s try speaking faster before I end up waking up in a place with no way of knocking myself unconscious. I understood everything up to now, kind of, but do you have a plan on how to reach and kill Vidar?”

Fenrir nodded once more and said: “Yes, but you’ll first have to feed the wolf. I need to grow strong enough to devour the barrier between the mortal worlds and Asgard before we can reach him.”
“How strong does that mean?”
“I don’t know… very strong?”
‘Great, very strong. Fucking dumb wolf, what does that even mean?’
*Growl*
“You know that as our souls are connected I can hear your thoughts through that connection, don’t you?”
Edward realized his mistake and took a few steps away from Fenrir before saying: “I was just frustrated okay? Give me a pass. It was a long and difficult day... So I just need to let the wolf eat more to increase your strength, don’t I?”
“Yes, but these puny animals and common humans won’t be able to increase my strength that much. You must find and devour stronger people and beasts.”
“And where am I supposed to find that?”
“This world is not the same as your Earth. It has magic, magical beasts and so on. You’ll be able to find what you’re looking for here.”
Edward’s eyes started shinning at the word magic and asked instantly: “Will I be able to use magic as well?”
“Yes, you should be able to. The reason I choose this body was because it could sustain the curse due to it’s high mana concentration. Since your soul fused with mine and this body is also quite decent, I think your potential should be top class.”
“Mana? There is mana in this world? Is that what people use to cast magic.”
“Indeed. All worlds have mana, it’s just that Earth’s mana core was destroyed a long time ago, during the Ragnarok.”
“I don’t care about that. I only want to use magic.”
“You will have to learn that yourself, but it’s indeed possible.”
“All right. Is there a way I can control the wolf at all?”
“No, not even I can. As you and it grow stronger, you will be able to use a part of it’s strength without transforming completely, but to control it, no. The wolf is controlled only by it’s insatiable hunger and his meager self preservation instincts. It will just attack everything around it and keep feeding as long as they don’t pose a danger to him…Sigh”
“I see. I’ll first start by finding out more about this world.” Edward said and didn’t have to wait long before he woke up back in the real world once again.
Back in control of his own body, he looked down at his own bloodied hands and let out a sigh.
“I really hope there were no humans along your latest victims…”
Clenching up his fist, he stood up, chose a direction and started walking. He was now inside another forest, or maybe it was the same forest, Edward didn’t know.
As he walked, he looked down at his own body and seeing the well defined abs and strong looking muscles he mumbled to himself: “This is a welcomed change tho. Whoever this guy was before, he really knew how to keep himself in shape.”
Edward continued to flex a couple more times as he admired his muscles before muttering once again: “I need to find a river or something to clean myself and took a look at my face. The muscles are great, but if I lost my pretty face in the process it would be all for naught.”
With this thought in mind, he started touching his face, trying to feel his facial features, but since he was not a blind man in his previous life, this proved completely useless.
Letting out a sigh, he bent his head downwards and his eyesight landed on his crouch area. A perverted smile appeared on his lips as he carefully checked his surroundings before sticking his hand in his wore down trousers. Not long after, a disappointed expression appeared on his face.
“Damn, what is this? It’s not even half of what I was packing back on Earth. Or… maybe he’s a grower not a shower? Should I check now? No, wait. How old am I now? Maybe I’m too young? That old fart called me a brat so I can’t be too old. Damn, I really need a mirror or some body of water to check my reflection.”
With the suspense getting the best of him, he started running instead of walking.
“This forest is so green, there for sure must be a river or something around here.”
A couple of hours of running as a constant speed, Edward was quite surprised at his stamina while also sad of not stumbling upon any river, lake or even a puddle. As he passed through a thick bush, he froze in place at the sight in front of him.
It was a white wolf. Another wolf. An even bigger wolf. The wolf also spotted him and turned towards the him with a growl.
“I’m fucked.” Said Edward as he quickly looked around. To the confusion of the wolf not even twenty meters away from him, Edward immediately started running in it’s direction.
The wolf let out another howl and chose not to charge at the crazy human running towards it, probably cautious of any trick the human was trying to play, but when the human ran head first into a tree not that far away from it, the wolf looked completely confused.
*POP*
Seeing that the human was now lying flat on the ground, the wolf let out a confused whimper before slowly making it’s way towards the free food that delivered itself to it’s door.
As the wolf was about five meters away from Edward’s unconscious body, the body on the ground suddenly twitched. The wolf immediately stopped in it’s tracks and bent down slightly, ready to attack as soon as the human made any move, but what happened next left the wolf completely stunned.
The human’s body started making weird cracking sounds and all it’s members started bending unnaturally. Soon enough, his skin also started cracking and fur started growing out of those cracks, covering his entire body in a manner of seconds.
The wolf took a few steps back, not really understanding what was happening in front of it. The human’s body kept changing and after fur covered it’s entire body, it’s eyes opened but color was completely gone from them, they now looked like two black holes threatening to devour the soul of anyone who even dared to come close. His nose and mouth also started extending forward, soon taking the form of a wolf’s snout. His transformation ended with his back legs bending the opposite way and a long bushy tail growing from it’s tail bone.
After the transformation was complete, wolf Edward turned it’s head upwards and released a threatening howl, a howl that must have resounded through the whole forest as birds started leaving the trees right after it, covering the entire sky in flocks.
The wolf was also intimidated, but due to it’s close proximity to Edward, it wasn’t able to make any move and just groveled with his head on his front paws, a look of abject horror in it’s eyes.
Wolf Edward kept howling for a couple more seconds before fixing it’s eyes on the wolf groveling in front of him. The wolf on the ground let out a few pitiful whimpers, but didn’t move at all.
Wolf Edward salivated as his black eyes started shinning with greed, but he appeared to be fighting against the greed as he let out another howl and started running in the distance. The white wolf that was groveling just before immediately got up and followed after him.
