The bath included a well from where one could draw water and some baskets one could use to rinse himself and a latrine pit. Letting out another sigh, Edward slowly and carefully started scrubbing his body.

[You walked into the demi-human district smelling of both human and animal blood and you wonder why everyone is giving you weird looks. Hahaha] , Fenrir’s voice sounded from his arm as he was cleaning himself.

“I figured it out eventually, but what could I do? I still needed to take a bath and it’s not like I would get welcomed in the other inns. But why did that girl seemed so terrified?”

[Because she has wolf blood running though her veins as well. She might be half human, but she can still feel the pressure from being in my presence.]

“I though that only applied when the wolf or you are in control of my body.”

[If it was me or the wolf in control she would be on her knees, haha, but you also release a small amount of that pressure. Your body is after all the same body all of us use.]

“So, in the end I might have to look for another inn…”

[We could scare her into submission if you want. I just need a fraction of a second to release my pressure and she will be begging you on her knees to stay here.]

“No, it’s fine. If they throw me out I’ll just leave.. Sigh”

Edward then continued washing his body a couple more times until he felt that the smell was completely gone before throwing his old trousers in the latrine, changing into his new clothes and walking back inside the inn.

The inn fell completely silent once more and Edward walked directly towards the girl at the counter.

“How is it? Do I still smell like that?”

“I…it’s a bit better.”

Edward sighed before he started walking towards the exit when the girl’s voice sounded from the back.

“I…I’m sorry, sir. Please don’t leave.”

Edward turned around with a surprised look only to see the girl bowing with her ears fallen flat over her head and tail hung pathetically downwards.

‘Damn, demi-human girls are really adorable. I really want to pet her…’ Though Edward as he asked: “What is it?”

The girl gathered her courage and answered without lifting her head: “I…I was wrong to judge you only because of the blood and saliva smell. My inn is a house for anyone, no matter what difficulties or problems they might have, so please don’t leave.”

Edward shook his head and replied: “I’ll probably come back here smelling like that a lot. I don’t think an inn in the demi-human district is the right pick for me.”

The girl’s tail hung even lower and she looked extremely pitiful, but Edward just sighed and continued walking outside.

‘I still have around half a day. I should take the chance to visit the adventurer’s guild as well.’ With this thought in mind, Edward left the demi-human district and headed towards the adventurer guild. The guild was easy to find since it was the biggest building inside the entire western district.

After walking through it’s doors, Edward was once again impressed at the size of the place. The first floor was only a big hall, full of tables and people drinking and laughing happily. It looked more like a tavern than a guild, but he really liked the atmosphere. The only thing that reminded people this was the adventurer guild were two gigantic quest boards on both sides of the hall.

Edward scanned the room for a few moments before spotting a staircase in the back. After climbing up the stairs, he reached the second floor and it was like he stepped in a completely different world. On the second floor there were only counters with guild employees and adventurers queueing in front of those counters.

After looking at the words hanging above each counter, Edward spotted an information counter with no queue and walked to it. Behind the counter there was a mature woman wearing the adventurer guild’s emblem on her uniform.

The guild employee gave Edward a look over before asking: “How may I help you?”

“I wanted to know what I need to do to register with the guild.” Replied Edward with a respectful tone, doing his best to keep his eyes from wandering over the woman’s body.

“Are you part of any class guild?”

“No. I’m new to the city and came from a smile village. I’m sorry I’m not that familiar with anything.”

“There’s no problem.” Said the woman before taking a small tablet from behind the counter and placing it in front of Edward before saying: “Please place your hand on that tablet so I could check which class you have an aptitude for.”

Edward did as he was told and a bunch of words and numbers started appearing one after another on the tablet.

<Fighter Classes : 1>
<Magician Classes: 1>
<Rogue Classes: 1>
<Cleric Classes: 0>
<Ranger Classes: 1>
<Unknown: 1>

The woman behind the counter froze with her eyes locked on the tablet and the words on it for a long time. Eventually, Edward cleared his throat and asked: “Excuse me, is there any problem?”

The woman got startled and said in a nervous tone: “No, no. No problem. I’m sorry. A…as you can see, you can join any class in the categories that have an one after them, so basically any class besides Cleric related ones.”

Edward nodded and asked: “All right. How do I go about joining them and why don’t I have any aptitude towards Cleric classes?”

The woman still looked a bit nervous as she answered: “Clerics depend on their faith in the Primordial Gods. If you have no faith in them, you can’t use divine spells. If you want to register for a class, you need to go to the respective guild of the class of your choice and pass their tests there. After getting an official class, you can come back here and register for an adventurer rank and badge.”

“All right. Thank you.” Replied Edward as he stood up and started walking down the stairs.

The woman stood there staring at Edward’s leaving back for quite a while before standing up and rushing towards the third floor while muttering: “A monster, I must let the leader know that someone with penta-mixed class aptitude has appeared in our city.”

Edward, not having any idea of the waves he will set into motion with the upper echelons of the city, walked out of the adventurer guild and started heading towards the center of the city. He still had a few more hours of daylight and enough time to go visit the magician guild.

As he stood in front of the magician guild, Edward was surprised at the sheer size of the place. A plaque saying: <Magician Guild> was placed on top of a fence surrounding a big courtyard with a circular building extending about five floors upwards. In that courtyard, there were a couple of other circular buildings, all of them looking quite the same besides being a bit smaller.

Edward’s eyes shinned once more as he muttered: “Magic towers!”, and walked excited towards the gate. As he reached the gate, a guard blocked him and said in an unfriendly tone: “Commoners are not allowed inside the Magician Guild.”

Edward was surprised, not having heard of this beforehand and asked: “But the adventurer guild told me I have aptitude for magician classes…”

The guard took a look at Edward’s clothes and disheveled appearance before laughing out loud and turning towards the other guard at the door.

“Hahaha, Doris, you must hear this one. A peasant came here saying he can use magic. Hahahaah..”

The other guard also started laughing out loud: “Hahaha, Boris, you must not make fun of a master magician. Hahahah what if he turns you into a frog?”

The two kept laughing as Edward’s face became darker and darker. Just as he was about to blow up, an annoyed voice came from behind the gate.

“What’s with this all this commotion? Boris and Doris, you idiotic brothers have finally gone mad?”

The two laughing guards stopped laughing as soon as that voice ended and turned around before bowing respectfully while saying in tandem: “We apologize, miss.”

Edward turned his eyes in the direction the voice came from and noticed a woman wearing a full white mage outfit, with a conic mage hat paired and a long white dress. The woman opened the gate with a wave of her hand and walked in front of the two guards.

“Now tell me, what do you find so funny and why shouldn’t I freeze you two into statues for interrupting my concentration? It’s not enough that I must stay in the tower closest to the gate, I must also tolerate your stupidity every single day.”

The guards face immediately turned red and they fell to their knees while saying: “Please forgive us, miss. This kid is a very funny buffoon and made us fall onto a fit of laughter. It’s not our fault.”

The woman raised one of dark and slim eyebrows and took a look at Edward.

Edward’s face looked like he was about to murder someone and the word ‘buffoon’ kept ringing in his mind.

Seeing the swollen red face of Edward, a crisp laughter escaped her lips as he said to the guard: “Go and report to the disciplinary hall. Tell them I sent you to receive your punishment for disturbing me once again.”

“But…” the two guards were about to complain, but seeing the cold look on her face and the small crystals of frost that started extending from her feet they immediately shut their mouths and ran deep inside the courtyard. With the two guards gone, the woman turned back towards Edward and said in a soft tone.

“Look, kid. I’m sure they were quite rude in turning you down, but they are also right. Only people of noble blood have magical aptitude. I suggest you try at one of the fighter, rogue or ranger classes. I’m sure one of them will suit you better.”

Edward also calmed down with the two guards gone and bowed towards the unknown woman the best he could before saying: “I’ve come here directly from the adventurer guild. They told me I have aptitude to join the magician guild.”

The woman frowned slightly, and Edward felt a cold breeze passing by his body that made his shudder. The frown on the woman’s face deepened as she said: “Your mana feels… weird. Come with me.”

As he words ended, she turned around and walked towards a small magic tower close to the gate. Edward followed after her while looking around excited and was surprised to barely see anyone walking through the large courtyard. The place looked pretty much deserted.

Once they reached the magic tower, the woman waved her hand and a part of the tower’s wall entered the ground creating a door.

“Cool.” Exclaimed Edward as the two of them walked through the door and stepped inside. The woman led him through a series of hallways, so many that Edward felt completely lost, before arriving in front of a wall at which she waved her hand once more and another door opened.

Edward followed the woman through the opened door and found himself inside a simple study room, with two sofas, a small table, a bookshelf and a small desk. The woman motioned for Edward to take a seat on one of the sofas before grabbing another one of those tablets from the desk and placing it on the table in front of him.

The woman gracefully sat down on the sofa on the other side, took her magician hat off, letting her long black hair fall gracefully down her shoulders, and put it on the table nearby. She then used her hands to move her hair behind one of her ears and said: “Please put your hand on that tablet. It will test your magical aptitude.”

Edward was a bit stunned by the woman’s beauty and didn’t really hear what she said, but already used to these tablets, he placed one of his hands on it out of instinct. The woman lifted a cup of tea from the side to take a sip as she looked at the tablet and waited for the results.

The cup of tea fell from the woman’s hand down on the table and broke into pieces, startling Edward, but the woman had no reaction and was seemingly charmed by the words that appeared on the tablet, unable to take her eyes off of it.

As Edward looked at the tablet as well, he would really be an idiot to not understand that it was not normal to have all aptitudes at 10, but he kept his cool and waited for the woman to recover her thoughts with a proud smile on his face.

‘The age of Master Magician Edward begins today.’
