Chapter 106: A small problem

Alex just shrugged at the foreman since he had not really thought about the matter so he really had no clue what would happen past this point beyond him eating some of the monster but that was fairly obvious. "hmm , since you don't seem to care all that much how about we butcher the monster and just give you the meat since we have no use for it?" The foreman suggested and Alex nodded in agreement. "You heard me people , get to work!" The man yelled and everyone started to get into the job of taking the gobul's corpse apart.

Those more aware of what monster corpses tended to look like after being hunted were stunned during the process when they noticed that there were zero injuries anywhere on the body. This lead to them being able to get every possible part from the monster since none of them were damaged at all. It was only when they got to the organs that the cause of the monsters death was figured out as much to their horror the lungs were black and necrotic while the other organs showed similar signs. The foreman and a few others quickly recognized this as the signs of extremely potent toxins at work and looked enlightened.

'So that's why he wanted so many poisonous things.' They all thought simultaneously before realizing the ramifications of this information in horror. If Alex possesses such a powerful poison then it meant that he was far more dangerous then they had originally thought. All of astera was under the notion that Alex was a purely physical monster which while rare in elders wasn't unheard of , but now that it was known he had poison as well his ranking on the list of elders immediately rose.

Besides this slight elevation in status none of those aware of it saw Alex in a different light since no matter what his abilities were he was still someone they all knew fairly well. Once the butchery was finished and the spoiled and unwanted parts were disposed of the meat was stacked up and wrapped in a thick cloth that was tied at the top for Alex to pick up. "I won't keep you here any longer sid , you can go ahead and take your meat up to the chef." The foreman said and Alex walked over to the bundle of meat roughly the size of a large person and grabbed the knot with his teeth before started to carry it away.

The head chef wasn't even phased by Alex bringing him random ingredients at this point and had even set up a separate smaller area in order to cook the stuff without affecting the regular food he made. The area had been jokingly nick named the elders kitchen by someone and the name had stuck since they had even made a sign with it that was staked into the ground outside it. A small problem cropped up when the chef went to cook the meat however.

When the meat was added to any heat source it rapidly burned and was ruined in anything beside very low heat. The chef solved this problem by taking a more aggressive method of cooking that involved skewering the meat and running it into and out of the fire for very small windows of time. This let him fully cook the meat while only barely charring the outside of it but when it was basted with his sweet chili garlic sauce they char became a positive aspect. Alex wasn't surprised that the meat was very soft considering the sedentary lifestyle that the gobul had.

The handler had once again tried to weasel some of the food out from under Alex but he was prepared this time and resisted her puppy dog eyes. It didn't hurt that he could see the multiple plates that were stacked up on her table. She pouted for the rest of Alex's meal but he ignored her earning a thumbs up from the head chef. Delicious meal done Alex headed over to the smithy not that far from the canteen to work on his [tempered bones] and [fire resistance traits] while trying to figure out how long it would take him to unlock the new trait he generated from the gobul's meat , [venomous tail].
