Chapter 126: Relaxing

Alex got a few surprised looks when he landed in astera since no one had even seen or heard him leave. no one had a problem with it so much as it was a little confusing for them since he usually made himself known before he leaves. Alex wasn't in the mood to deal with the confusion he caused since he was desperately in need of some relaxation after that stressful excursion. Alex direct curled up to go to sleep once he was in his nest and passed clean out. Roya even went to check on him since he was showing abnormal behavior only to notice him sleeping.

She used this opportunity to make observations about Alex that she normally couldn't since part of the agreement was she couldn't bother him at night. Alex woke up a few hours later when his stomach decided he needed to get up. Alex hadn't filled up during his excursion since he didn't want to tempt fate and as a result he was quite hungry. It certainly didn't help that he had started his next growth after unlocking the water element and his body was starving for nutrients to fuel this expansion.

Alex grumbled unhappily but left his nest to go down to the reef to hunt a few sharks to satisfy his stomach. Those who were worried that something was wrong with him were relieved to see him hale and hearty going out for a dive. Interestingly enough was that the laventis that had been captured had been released down the coast but had still ended up living in the reef outside astera. Alex ignored it during his trip since it remained submissive towards him and didn't cause any problems for astera. After reading the report on the monster that the scholars wrote Alex lost all interest in eating the monster.

This was because it had no interesting traits beyond the coral and seaweed camouflage it had which was useless to him. unlike his own shadow camouflage that was applicable in any location that had shadows the laventis's was only useful at a reef or seaweed patch. Outside those area's however the stuff was more likely to get Alex noticed more than anything. Today was a bad day to be a large shark in the reef as Alex was on a killing spree. Six different large sharks fell into his stomach in the end before he was satisfied.

The laventis even benefited from Alex's hunt due to a trait the scholars had not even considered it having due to it's strangeness. This trait attracted the blood in the water towards the monster before it was absorbed by the flowing red seaweed on it's back. Alex didn't notice this or else the monster would have been eaten regardless of it's submission since a trait that benefits the wielder from consuming blood would be super useful. Alex walked unto the dock and shook off the water on him before heading up to the smithy to warm up in the heat while lazing about.

The second fleet members who worked the smithy were always happy to see Alex and greeted him enthusiastically when he arrived. none of them batted an eye when he stuck his tail into the open faced forge since it was well known that he does this thanks to Roya. Alex basked in the heat while casually chatting with the head smith who usually oversaw the orders at the counter all day. It was a peaceful and calm evening as Alex stayed at the smithy for a few hours which like his increase his [fire resistance] trait by a level.

Alex went to sleep nice and early after that as his gut told him that tomorrow was gonna be a big day and he had an idea how. The only major mission between the scholar rescue and the first attempt at capturing zorah was the one where the nearby anjanath needed to be taken care of before the operation could move ahead. However Alex didn't know if him already having killed an anjanath nearby in the forest had removed this mission entirely. He would soon find out however as tomorrow will bring it's own worries with it.
