Chapter 36: Pink rathian hunt

Alex soared high above the ground while keeping an eye out for the prey he was after this time. the coral highlands were a splotched landscape of blues , whites , reds and pinks so finding a pink monster was both easy and hard depending on where it was. it took alex close to two hours to find his target since it was sleeping in one of the pink area this whole time. it was only after the wyvern had woken up to go hunting that he found it. due to the uneven and wild manner the corals had grown there was no patterns he could look for a break in to see the rathian.

Alex used his favorite tactic of divebombing to slam the rathians head into the ground. this was a great tactic because it disoriented the monsters and made them unable to react quickly usually. thanks to the fact subspecies were several folds more durable or stronger than the normal high rank versions this rathian was only stunned for a brief moment. alex was caught off guard since this was the first time this had happened and as a result got bit by the rathian on one of his legs.

Alex's scales absorbed most of the damage by shattering so alex only got a bruise for the attack on himself but he retaliated with by gouging out the rathians eye with his claws. the wyvern screamed in agony and went into a rage state letting her throw alex off of her back. he took a few scales with him but that was about it due to her incredible durability. she spat condensed balls of fire at alex who wing dashed to the side to avoid them not because of the element but the explosion they caused instead.

The rathian stopped spewing fireballs since they had kicked up a huge cloud of dust that blocked her vision of alex. at this exact moment a glowing blue spike shot out of the dust cloud and struck the soft underbelly of the rathian flowing her body with electricity and making her muscles spasm. alex dashed out of the dust cloud behind the spike tackling the rathian and bowling her into a coral wall hard. the wall crumbled and shattered from the force of the impact but alex wasted no time sinking his long sharp fangs into the scales of the rathians throat.

Scales splintered apart at his raw strength crushing them before his fangs sank into the flesh bellow. the rathian flailed and struggled but it was too late as alex wasn't leaving her throat without taking a mouthful with him. she raked her talons against his side as he applied more pressure to his jaws sinking his fangs even deeper into her throat. alex's scales were smooth and angular so the rathians talons slipped off their length as she tried to get him off her. alex twisted his head and with a savage glint in his eyes tore the bottom of the rathians throat out.

Blood sprayed as her arteries were severed and she made gurgling screams as she struggled to breath and survive. it was hopeless however as alex started dug his claws into the inside of her throat through the flesh at the back until he grasped her spine and pulled. all movement ceased as the bone snapped and were pulled out the hole in the throat alex made. alex roared out his victory over the first decent challenge he's gotten since his fight with nergigante before grasping the corpse and flying it back to astera as the blood drained out of the hole in it's throat.

The people of astera were only slightly surprised to see alex show up with the corpse of the subspecies rathian. he had brought back the corpse of an elder dragon not long ago so a subspecies wasn't that strange a leap with the reports of it's appearance. interestingly enough this kill allowed alex to confirm a theory of his since freya hunted yet another pink rathian a few days later. the pink rathian gave alex just under the amount of point the low rank kirin did at six hundred thousand points. but alex confirmed that freya had fate itself working in the background to ensure the story moved at the correct pace despite his interference.
