Chapter 60: Gold rush

About six months after the death of the zeno jiivas or three months after alex subjected the ninja apes to the simian flu some surprising news came. while out and about on the quest that show up constantly freya had found some unusual golden dropped scales. according to the first fleet members still around this belonged to the golden empress kulve taroth who had shown of decades earlier but had been unable to be tracked down. thanks to the elders carelessness the species lair had been discovered and an operation to was set up to hunt there.

Unlike most monsters however the hunters needed to use cannons in order to weaken kulve thanks to the species large size and powerful defenses making most weapons useless at first. most were surprised when they noticed that alex actually didn't seem to know exactly where this lair was located as he merely followed behind the expedition group from above. he couldn't really be blamed for the lack of knowledge in this regard as the game never actually specified where the lair was located. instead your avatar simply just shows up there when you take the quest for sieging the beast , the only hint you are given is that it's a cave system of some sort.

In the end everyone simply shrugged off alex's perceived lack of foreknowledge as the discovery being not important enough to draw his attention. it was funny the level of disregard alex got for any odd behaviors he showed since he had always been doing odd things. if they weren't so desensitized to his weirdness a few people may have noticed the fact that alex wasn't actually a seer. he could certainly change that if he wanted to but alex knew from the stories on earth that most true seers were driven mad by the knowledge they obtained and decided against it.

As alex found out soon the el dorado cave system was located to the north west of the ancient forest halfway to the research bases usual location. the entrance to the caves were honestly stupidly hard to miss thanks to the large quantity of shiny gold at the mouth from when a kulve left or returned. flying overhead made it so that alex noticed the massive reflection hole in the ground from miles away and allowed him to reach the area before the expedition.

The goro goro no mi was broken in how fast it allowed someone to move if used properly and not like an idiot like enels use of the fruit. most people think that it was the destructive power of the fruit that made it obtain the title of invincible logia but the truth was that if mastered the fruit had both incredible attack power and unrivaled speed wrapped up in a neat little package. alex understood this and made sure he used this to his advantage whenever possible. the biggest problem with the fruits speed however was that not even the user can keep up with it at it's peak and so it is hard to accurately judge distance with it.

Alex crashed into the ground out side the cave and the only thing that stopped him from causing a shit ton of damage was the fact he was in his elemental form and sank into the gold effortlessly. the abundance of gold along the walls of the cave let alex shoot through the cave at high speeds as he arced from one piece of gold to another. when the heat began to rise alex knew he was getting close to the kulve and began to prepare to hit it hard.

When alex found the elder walking leisurely trough the caverns he arced out of the nearby gold deposit and slammed his claw covered in electricity into it's face in an ambush attack. she screamed from the electricity but only stumbled a bit from the force behind alex's strike. this surprised alex who knew of her durability but was used to doing huge amounts of physical damage. still despite this alex was leagues above kulve in terms of elemental power and just skipped the foreplay and directly flooded the elder with a massive amount of lightning until all of her gold was gone. effortlessly he switched to ice and turned the entire massive cavern into a frozen hellscape in a display of elemental power that would make velkhana blush. needless to say kulve died near instantly and froze solid in a look of agony and confusion.
