Chapter 9: Unreasonable anjanath

Thankfully the changes to his body didn't have a long timer attached to them since it was only at three days. alex was left with five thousand three hundred an fifteen points after that which he decided to use on the item tab. he took inspiration from the pokemon series this time and drew a yellow crystal orb. he then started to add descriptions to it {light orb: small durable crystal that contains the electrical energy of a whole storm and increases thunder affinity slowly over time for all creatures in a six foot radius of it}.

Alex barely had enough points for this small item and the only reason for that was the limits he imposed on it in the description. it wasn't some super broken item that instantly made him go super saiyan but a slow but steady growth type item. saving the picture alex watched as all but two of his points were deducted and the item showed up in front of him like it was 3d printed out of thin air. the light orb was a very simple looking uneven dimly glowing yellow orb and alex could only barely feel the thunder element in him thickening in it's presence.

It was like adding grains of sank to a bucket , almost unnoticeable but it added up. alex dug a small hole in the stone at the center of his nest and buried the light orb just below the surface. this put it out of sight but still capable of effecting him as he slept over it. what alex didn't know was that if he hadn't added the area the orb affected it would have drawn the greed of every thunder type monster for sixty miles including the blue thunder type elder in the coral highlands.

The reason for this was because of the description of how much energy was in the orb. storms spread their energy out over long distances and without the area being specified the orb would have done the same. ironically alex only added the effect to lower the price and as a result didn't even realize how close to getting everyone in astera killed he had come. still the night passed uneventfully and the next morning alex awoke with his thunder element just over doubled. now instead of static he was closer to a low level taser in terms of electrical discharge.

The people of astera waved him off as he flew out of the town to hunt another great jagras. alex was thankful that the giant iguana monsters were plentiful as he found the trail of a new one within ten minutes of careful searching. just like last time he stalked the slow bright yellow reptile until he deemed it the right time to strike. this time it was in the open where the aptanoths grazed that alex dived down from the sky and landed claw first on the beast head slamming it into the ground rattling it's brain.

The great jagras stumbled around in a daze as its vision swam and it's world seemed to spin. this only lasted a moment however as alex speared it through the eyes with the spike on the tip of his tail. before the poor thing could react alex sent his full electrical load into its braincase frying its brain killing it instantly. alex's thunder element wasn't strong enough to penetrate the great jagras's hide and flesh normally but it's a whole other story about releasing it directly into its skull. once inside the body electricity does a fuck ton of damage with very little of the stuff.

Once again alex went to grab his prey but when he took off a large pinkish trex looking thing burst through the tree line. the anjanath saw that something had already killed the great jagras it was hunting and roared angrily at alex to get him to drop it. small sparks and wisp of flames came out of it's mouth as it roared but alex was a stubborn bastard and just flapped his wings harder to drag the corpse higher into the air. obviously this was unacceptable for the anjanath as it launched a stream of orange flame into the air at alex forcing him to drop altitude to dodge it.

Alex was getting pissed at the stubborn pink monster that insisted on stealing his kill so he hatched a plan to teach it a lesson. the anjanath ran up towards alex who was now close enough to the ground for it to leap up and grab the corpse he was carrying. it attempted precisely this but alex swung his tail cracking the air like a whip , slashing the air born monster across the face with his serrated spike. this opened a deep gash just below the anjanath's eye and also knocked it away onto it's side from the force of the impact.
