Chapter 10:
Bridge Walk
A night out on the town. Cecelia's arms wrapped around mine as we walked the places only the high and mighty tread. Pristine, clean bridges enclosed from the outside. People in clothes I could never fathom wearing strode by. Their gazes pierced me, next to Cecelia as I was.
She wore black tights and a long-sleeved, dark crimson sheath dress. It was cut to reveal a little of her collarbone, upon which settled a flat, golden necklace. Her hair styled in a fancy updo, the silken threads of auburn ombre shone in the light. A slight smile to her lips, she just seemed to glow.
It was no wonder their eyes fell to me. The most casual of clothing, yet all made of the highest quality. Dark sweatpants, normal sneakers, and a dark shirt that was just a bit too big for me. The material was comfortable, and I felt good not having the clothing be restrictive.
However, it was out of place next to her and especially among the more fancily dressed people walking around. Their high-quality dresses, sleek suits, and other fashionable styles outshone me easily. We found ourselves in a place that the rich and powerful shopped. Glowing in fancy neon writing on the two entrances were the words: Ishikawa-Alden Corp, Sky Mall: 40th Floor.
"Dear," Cecelia's silvery voice called to me softly, "Hold your head high. You own this place."
"...Heh, do I?" I responded quietly, skeptical.
"Of course!" She seemed almost offended, "You're my husband now, and that means anything I have is also yours."
"But-" I went to protest, but she'd have none of it.
"No buts," She huffed, pulling me over to the windows of the bridge, "Look."
My knees grew weak as I approached the windows. We were forty stories up, and the ground below me just seemed to lurch in my sight. The worst thing about my fear of heights is that my body just lost all strength. It was only Cecelia's firm, comforting hold on me that kept me standing.
"...I know it's not pleasant," She whispered, her lips curling into an understanding and sympathetic smile, "Humor me. Take a breath, and look."
I nodded, closing my eyes I took several breaths. As I slowly opened my eyes, I took in the sight before me. Hovercars made their way below us. The cars below like stars in the night. The city was alive. Neon signs, holographic images, plants that grew with the buildings, parks on rooftops and various locations below. It was a city that was alive.
"Do you see it?" She asked me, motioning out to it, her hand opened as if holding everything within her palm, "The world out there...It's yours. Do you know why?"
I shook my head, feeling a bit ashamed that I didn't understand.
"Because, my dear," She spoke with authority, a confidence that I was jealous of, but absolutely loved in her, "It is mine."

As she said this, her palm closed on the world before us. A small smile crept upon my lips as I began to understand a bit of what she meant.
"You are my husband," She continued, pulling me into a comforting side hug, "And that means all that is mine, is yours. And no, before you even say it, you're not abusing me nor using me."
"I...wasn't going to say that..." My cheeks heated up, looking away sheepishly because it was exactly what I was going to say.
"Heh, right, of course not my love," I could hear her smile in her words, "My apologies."
Her laugh was jovial, yet soft. Relaxing, as the tension in my body seemed to fade away.
"No, you don't have to apologize," Tenderly, I rested my head against her, "If anything, I should thank you. I used to be down there, and now...I'm up here, with you."
Glancing up at her, I smiled the type of smile that came straight from the heart. One of gratitude and love. Taking in every inch of her beautiful face. I still couldn't believe she was older than me, though only by six years. She had such a youthful appearance.
"And I..." My anxiety began to kick in, but I pushed passed it, following my heart, "I...Wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
A look of tender love came over her face, her eyes narrowing in on me. I knew what was about to happen, and I longed for it. Closing my eyes and making my lips ready for her. I could feel her hand cup my cheek and pull me in close. The anticipation building.
"Excuse me!" A rough, gruff voice interrupted, "I need to see some ID. PDA is not allowed here."
My eyes opened at the interruption, and I nearly swooned on the spot. Cecelia's face was just a hair breadth away. I could smell her delicious breath, so close to me. Yet, it wasn't that which made my knees weak. It was her eyes.
Her face grew cold, her eyes sharpened as they looked towards the interruption. The annoyance and cool, calm anger upon her face was stunning. Fierce and beautiful. I felt my heart give way, having to bite my lip to suppress the moan wanting to escape.
"What is wrong with me?" I chastised myself, "I mean...she's fucking hot. Can you blame yourself? The answer is no."
I reasoned it out with myself as Cecelia stood, her demeanor shifting into one of cool indifference and authority. Turning to face the man, a protective arm in front of me.
