Chapter 73:
A Family Gathering
The venue for today was a sky top restaurant, their VIP section reserved. It was a decent sized room with a rectangular table near the window. It was placed just far enough away that I didn't get vertigo, but close enough that we had a beautiful view of the city. All its neon lights, holograms, and cars moving around lighting up the night.
Dark marble floors with mahogany walls lined the room. Various plants were situated in the corners of the room and in rectangular planters lining the walkway to the table. A deep, golden rug led the way to the table and underneath it. Crystal chandeliers gave a soft, golden light to the room.
It was a very cozy feeling atmosphere, but that is how we requested it. Several servers waited nearby in pristine uniforms, waiting for the rest of us to arrive. We came early to ensure everything went smoothly. "I'm sure they'll be shocked at such a place..."
Sure enough, as the time came for my parents and brother to arrive, the doors to the room opened. Being escorted by the staff, my parents had arrived. My mother and father held hands as they looked around in awe and confusion. When they saw me, they relaxed slightly, hurrying over.
"Alex!" My mother exclaimed, embracing me, "I was worried this wasn't the right place..."
"It is," I reassured her, smiling lovingly, "I'm glad you made it. Was the ride alright?"
"Smoothest ride we've ever had," My father patted me on the shoulder.
Greeting Cecelia warmly, my mother took her hands in hers before giving Alana a big hug.
"You look lovely, dear," My mother praised Alana who smiled shyly.
"It's all thanks to Uncle..." She said, looking towards me, "He's taken good care of me."
Smiling happily, my mother gave me an appreciative look. Nodding in thanks towards me as I returned it.
"Son..." My father called, looking around, "Are you sure this is alright? It looks...expensive."
There was worry in his eyes, and a bit of doubt. I could understand his sentiment. They both wore the best clothes they could. My mother wearing a dark green dress with golden threading along the hem. My father wore the only suit he had, but one that he kept in the best shape he could for when he had job interviews. It was your typical black tie type suit, but it fit him well even after all these years.
"Mother, Father," I motioned to their places at the end of the table on the right, "Sit, please."
With them sitting down, the servers pulling their chairs out silently and scooting them in as they took their coats. They were nervous, I could tell.
"I'm sure you realized it," I explained, Cecelia wrapping her arm around my waist, "But I'm doing a lot better...it's all thanks to Cecelia."
"Yes, we know dear," My mother said, confused, "She must be taking really good care of you."
"Oh, she is," I nodded, smiling up at her before returning to look at my parents, "But there's a reason for that...And I want to tell you, but I needed you to sit down first."
They looked at each other apprehensively but nodded.
"Anything you need to tell us, do so," My father said, bracing himself.
"As you know, I married Cecelia a couple months back," I explained, holding her tightly to me, "At the time, I was cautious. After all...when I learned who she was I couldn't believe it."
Presenting Cecelia to them, I proudly displayed her for them to see.
"Allow me to properly introduce you to my wife," Smiling lovingly, my hands on her hips, "This is Cecelia Meredith Williams Ishikawa-Alden. A mouthful, I know, but...I see you recognize the name."
"T-The Ishikawa-Alden?" My father stammered, trying to wrap his head around this, "I figured you were rich, but..."

"You're not lying, are you?" My mother asked in disbelief.
"No, Mrs. Will-" Cecelia attempted to speak, but my mother would have none of it.
"Mother," She corrected her, reaching out a hand to Cecelia, "You are not about to call me formally. We're family."
"...Alright then, mother," Cecelia blushed a light pink as she took my mothers hand, "I'm not lying. We thought this the best way to break it to you, and..."
"You are family, Mrs.-" My father was about to be formal, but a single look from both my mother and Cecelia put a stop to that, "Right...Cecelia."
"Honestly, we thought something was up, but never this!" My mother exclaimed, tears forming in her eyes, "You really aren't just using my boy, are you?"
"Oh...I'm using him, alright," Cecelia said, looking back at me sensuously, "But not in the way you're worried about."
"O-Oh my..." My mother blushed at Cecelia's boldness, and my father simply nodded approvingly.
"Cecelia..." I cautioned, rolling my eyes at her as I blushed in embarrassment, "Come now, behave."
"Sorry, my love," Releasing my mother's hand, Cecelia returned to my side, "I love your son more than anything, and as such will take care of him and his family...that includes you."
"What...do you mean?" My father asked cautiously.
"It's our present to you..." I said, reaching into my pocket I pulled out a small box, sliding it across the table to them, "Open it."
Looking at each other, they nodded before taking the box. Slowly, they unwrapped the white ribbon over the black box. As they lifted the lid, my mother gasped and my father's eyes went wide.
"Th-This...Alex, we can't-" My mother shook her head, hands to her mouth as her eyes filled with tears even more.
"You can, and you will," I said simply, interrupting her, "We may not always have gotten along. We fought, we argued...we've been through a lot, but I love you. You're my parents, and you raised me. I can finally give something back...with the help of Cecelia, of course."
I smiled sheepishly, looking at her.
"All I have is yours, love," Cecelia kissed my forehead gently, "You may use it as you wish."
"And I wish to take care of you two," I said, affection in my words, "The house and car are yours to use as you please, and the card can be used anywhere, for anything. Just...don't go overboard, yeah?"
"A-Are you sure?" My mother asked, lifting the card key in her hand, "This...it's so much."
"Yes, we're sure," I nodded, "You deserve it. Please, live comfortably. You no longer need to work so hard."
My mother broke down in tears, my father hugging her to him as they both stared at the gift we prepared for them.
