Chapter 87:

Finally Free

I was beginning to feel the full effect of their yandere tendencies. I was completely outmatched. The danger was over, but they had no idea what might happen next. They were on high alert to ensure I didn't do anything foolish again.

They were relentless in their protection of me. I went nowhere without someone by my side, even the bathroom. Cecelia wasn't joking when she said I was in trouble. At any given time, someone was always connected to me by the hip. Usually it was either Scarlett, Sadia, or Cecelia herself. Alana and Rosa were a tag team effort, and often came with either of the three.

At night, I wasn't allowed to leave the bedroom. No servants were allowed in, around, or near me. The new Chef that was hired was watched constantly under guard to ensure no food was poisoned. These were all temporary measures, but for now it was stifling.

"I said it was a small price to pay, but..." I found myself laying on my stomach, exhausted and staring at nothing in particular. The pages of my book just felt empty. The words not quite registering to my eyes. "I don't mind being inside, but...I feel so off."

All but Cecelia were in the room with me. I had no idea what to do. I was often content to read and just enjoy the company, but it just felt different. As if they weren't really enjoying themselves either as they had to watch me. I felt horrible.

"H-Hey..." I spoke up softly, looking between them all, "Uhm...how's it going?"

It was an awkward question asked out of desperation. Exchanging a look amongst themselves, they smiled almost apologetically.

"You know, Uncle," Alana said, adjusting herself to look at me better, "You did this to yourself...I thought you'd be fine, since you're normally inside anyways."

"True..." I stated, staring blankly at the pages of my book, "But...when no one else is, how can I relax?"

"What do you mean?" She asked me, "We're just fine the way we are."

"Really?" I could only scoff as I sat up, adjusting myself, "Alright, then tell me....what video were you watching? Scarlett, what was the most recent episode of the anime you watched about? Sadia, the book you're reading....is it easy to do upside down?"

Sadia took a look at the cover of the book, a light blush coming over her as she cleared her throat and adjusted the book. Rosa and Alana both looked at each other for advice, and Scarlett furrowed her brow in thought, but produce no answer. They were mistakes I didn't think they'd make, but the fact they made them was reason enough for me to worry.

"Exactly," I sighed, setting my book down, "None of you are doing what you normally do, because you're focused on me. Therefore, I can't relax because you're not relaxed, and yes Alana, I know. You want me safe and to make sure nothing happens...but we're at home. No servants, no nothing."

"I'm sorry, Uncle..." Alana seemed a bit crestfallen, Rosa placing a comforting arm upon her forearm, "Is it that bothersome?"

"It's not that it's bothersome," I explained, leaning back against the couch, "All of you wanting to keep me safe and pay attention to me...I love that. It warms my heart, makes me feel special..."

"Because you are," Scarlett and Alana said at about the exact same time, both smiling at each other.

"Yes, but," I said, eyeing them to let me finish, "I want you all to do the things you enjoy. You're missing out on the stuff you normally do because of me, and that...it makes me feel guilty. I'm not going anywhere, I promise you..."

The four of them looked amongst themselves once more, having some secret conversation I couldn't comprehend. After a moment, Scarlett rose and glided over to me. Sitting down, she leaned against me, looking up at my face.

"Alex is worried about us?" She asked to which I nodded, "But we chose this, and it is the only way to make sure you're safe..."

The puppy dog eyes she gave me caused my eye to twitch as my heart faltered. Looking towards Alana, she gave me the same look. Even Rosa looked at me with those eyes. Sadia seemed conflicted but held the same tone about her. Each time I felt the defense I put up crack, then break.

"...It's now illegal to give me those looks," Pouting, I narrowed my eyes at all of them, their expressions became amused; I simply shook my head in defeat, "Honestly...I just want things to go back to normal. I want to-"

"Alex..." From outside the room, I heard Cecelia's voice call to me; As she entered, finally joining us, she leaned up against the doorway, stunning as always, "You've been good for the last week. Spring is arriving, and I think we all can agree we will keep an eye on him from now on, yes?"

All heads nodded in agreement.

"I owe him mine and my daughter's life," Sadia stated simply, "So of course I will."

"...Is that the only reason?" Cecelia teased, smirking as Sadia shifted nervously, "Well, regardless, I think your confinement is over. However, if you do anything so recklessly foolish again...I'll really lock you up. Understand?"

That serious glint in her eye melted me. I felt giddy and suddenly bashful under its gaze.

"Heh...O-Okay..." Blushing, I found myself feeling quite embarrassed at how easily I caved, "Damn it...maybe that look should be illegal now too..."

Scarlett smiled lovingly up at me as she took my head in her hands.

"Alex happy now?" She asked, worry in her eyes despite her smile, "You know...we only want you happy and safe."

Placing my own hand upon her cheek, I smiled down at her.

"I was never upset...just bored and worried," I really couldn't stay mad when they were so cute, "I really appreciate all you do. Everyone."

Passing my gaze over them all, I really felt complete. Cecelia made her way over to me, sitting on the opposite side as Scarlett. Her arm wrapping around my shoulders as she hugged me to her.

"Now, everyone," She said with a smile, "How do people feel about a move?"

It felt so good to feel the air on my face again, and feel the cool, crisp air of the north fill my lungs. Winter, in essence, went longer in the north. Snow still covered the land, and we were leaving. It was a bit bittersweet to leave the place I was raised once more, especially for who knows how long. I was grateful Cecelia allowed us to stay as long as we did.

I saw my family once more before we left. My parents were in the middle of moving into the house we got them, and my brother and his family were doing much better now that they didn't have to worry about us or our parents. We said our goodbyes and boarded the luxury transport to our next destination. The United Kingdom. Specifically, London.

My sister, Dolores, had been transferred to a private facility and under heavy guard. She was part of the Ishikawa-Alden Family, and they would take care of her. It was an Ishikawa-Alden facility, but with recent events they could never be too sure. Finally, it seemed like things were returning to normal. I just didn't know why Cecelia decided to head to London, of all places. Something I would come to learn soon.
