Chapter 89:

Scuffle in the Streets

As I finally had my freedom, I wanted to walk around. Stretch my legs. Grateful that they allowed me to as we began to peruse the land below. London was a completely different atmosphere from the places we lived in the United States. Even after all these years, they held onto their historic charm.

Shops dedicated to the history of London, the good and the bad. Its reigning Monarchy has gone to even this day but changed to incorporate the ideals and structure of this new era. Leading their own corporate powerhouse: Royal Crown Industries, or RCI. Lands, titles, and more still exist, possibly even more so in this day and age.

With the change of the world to the more corporate lifestyle, titles meant everything and even more. "I wonder if Cecelia has any titles..." The thought occurred to me as I saw the screen in the shop talk about a title award ceremony for the new CEO of Mech-Tech, as an opening just appeared in their ranks. The Queen herself, Victoria, would be giving the newcomer the small title of "Knight". Archaic, but held weight in some circles.

The world was vast and growing faster before my eyes. The more I lived this life with Cecelia, the more I learned and found that I knew next to nothing of how the world really worked.

"Oi! Out the way!" A snarky word from an angry stranger.

Alana, Rosa, and Scarlett were off looking at some small items, while Cecelia made some purchases, I had been interested in. Books, mainly. I was waiting outside with Sadia, watching one of the large screens plastered everywhere. Advertising was everything, and on one of the screens was the news.

They were rolling by on their heels, their shoes hovering them off the ground. Three of them, young looking street kids. Early twenties at most, definitely not teens. Just common punks out for a stroll and some laughs. I knew the type; They didn't change no matter where you lived. Just the dialect and clothes.

"Rich cunt, move it!" Without stopping, they barreled straight towards me.

With nowhere left to go, I decided to step to the opposite from where I was. Yet, as I attempted, Sadia's hand reached across my chest, holding me in place.

"You don't need to move for them," Sadia told me, her eyes focused on them, "I'll handle this."

"Sadia, you don't need to-" Before I could say another word as Sadia stepped in front of me, her hair flowing behind her as she simply cracked her knuckles.

"Oh! His mommy's coming to talk to us!" They jeered, speeding up.

The sound of something flicking caught my attention. Bats, all of them. "Ah...they were looking for a fight..." Knowing they were those types of punks, I felt sorry for them. Taking a step towards the window, I watched as one of them came in swinging.

Sadia moved like water, flowing down as her fist came up. Blood and teeth went flying as the first was knocked to the ground. The other two flying on by with wide as. Making a turn, they both looked at each other, then at their friend on the ground. They coughed, spitting up blood as they writhed in agony and pain. Their screams agonizing.

"Damn...Girl rocked your shit, man," One of them teased, oblivious to the danger before them.

"Well...that's uncouth," Sadia adjusted herself, straightening up as she dusted off her suit, "Now then, since you're looking for a fight...Allow me to oblige. You've insulted my employer. I cannot let that pass."

"Oi, ain't you a cheeky cunt," The other sneered, kneeling down as they rested their chin on their bat, "Alright...Let's see what you got."

Nodding to each other, the one kneeling shot up, a burst of air propelling them into the air. I don't know why these three came looking for a fight, but they chose the wrong targets. Some people were just that bored.

As the one jumped into the air, the other shot forward. Sadia stepping forward, calm and collected. Her relaxed emerald eyes shone brilliantly. Unafraid, standing before them I could only think one thing. "She's so cool..." My heart beating in my chest as they came towards her, but my attention was on her.

Their bats aimed for her, one high, one low. I thought they were about to hit her when she moved unlike anything I had ever seen. Even Scarlett, who I've seen bend in impossible ways, never moved like she did. If I had not been watching closely, I may have missed it.

Twisting as she kicked from the ground, she became near parallel as she passed through the gap in the bats. Her foot catching the one swinging low in the face. The sickening crunch of their bones sounded as they were knocked back. At the same time, she grabbed the ankle of the one overhead, and with her momentum and theirs, slammed them into the ground.

Their blood soaking into the cobblestoned pathway, a relic of the past. Trickling down as they groaned in pain. Too stunned to move, and too hurt to leave. Straightening herself out, Sadia looked unperturbed. "...Damn."

"Staring again?" Cecelia teased, suddenly beside me.

Startling me, I held my hand to my chest, my heart near jumping out of it. A light blush crossing my cheeks as I simply glowered at her, much to her amusement.

"Alex, are you alright?" Sadia made her way back, checking me over.

"I-I'm fine," I smiled, blushing even more as I became conscious of her, the light smell of rose hitting my nostrils, "A-Are you okay?"

"Of course," She smiled confidently, "I'm highly trained, though nothing compared to Cecelia or Scarlett."

"Now, don't sell yourself short, Sadia," Cecelia mused, placing a hand on her shoulder, "You did well. Alex, here are your books."

Handing me the bag, I held them happily to my chest.

"Thank you..." I said softly, fidgeting slightly in joy.

With the goods procured, I rejoined everyone as we made our way along. Alan and Rosa happy with their own purchases. Matching panda necklaces. I was content to see the progress they were making. It was just too cute.

Scarlett hummed as she skipped along behind us, the sound of a needle entering flesh I chose to ignore. Her arms wrapping around mind as she caught up to us. A beaming, innocent smile on her face.
