Ethan sat in the corner of the room as he pointed his pistol at a guy sitting at the other end of the room. The guy across the room looked Japanese, wearing a bloodied Arasaka suit, and the guy looked weak, as if he could pass out at any minute.
He was under anesthesia, his hand was on his stomach as Vic had just pulled some bullets out of his stomach.
While Vic was operating on the table, trying so desperately to save V, who had a bullet lodged in his head, Ethan just kept staring at the japanese man, seemingly hostile to him for no reason.
Ethan, his face jammer still on, then said. “Why are you doing this?”
The Japanese man just stared at Ethan. “What? I do not understand what you are saying.”
“Saving V.” Ethan continued. “He’s the one who zeroed Saburo, yet you saved him. Yorinobu wants him alive?”
The Japanese man frowned, he saw that Ethan had a face jammer on. “Who are you?”
“You didn’t answer my question.” Ethan said. “Yorinobu wants him alive?”
The Japanese man ignored the question again. He tried to stand up. “I do not have time to play inter—”
As the Japanese Man tried to stand up, a bullet suddenly planted itself on the ground beside his feet, making him stumble to his seat again.
“Jesus Christ! What are you doing shooting your iron in my clinic!?” Vic protested. “I’m— trying to save a life here!”
“And I’m trying to make sure the one you’re saving stays alive when he wakes up.” Ethan countered. He stood up, walked towards the Japanese man, and stared at his eyes. “Answer my damn question. You want to take him alive to Yorinobu?”
The Japanese Man seemingly gave up, and answered his question. “Yorinobu-sama is hunting me and him right now.”
Ethan raised his brow. “Hunting you? Why? Because you failed to protect his father?”
“No.” The Japanese man said flatly. “Because I suspect that Yorinobu-sama is the one who murdered his own father, and V is the sole witness of it, so he wants to kill me and him.”
Ethan scoffed. “Of course, I should’ve known.”
Ethan quickly put his pistol on his holster, walking back towards his seat.
The Japanese man continued to stare at him, seemingly watching Ethan’s movement sharply. “Who are you?”
“A guy who kills corpo for a living.” answered Ethan. “And you, Goro Takemura, bodyguard of Saburo Arasaka, the one that was assumed can go toe to toe with Morgan Blackhand himself.”
“That is an exaggeration.” said Takemura. “I cannot fight that demon.”
Ethan hummed. “I thought so.”
“I had thought that I was not famous,” said Takemura. “How do you know me?”
“I had planned on flatlining Saburo once he stepped inside Night City.” said Ethan casually, making Takemura’s eyes widened. “But someone got to him first, his own son, as your statement suggests.”
Takemura clenched his bullet wound, his anesthetic started to wear off. “Why do you want to kill Saburo-sama?”
Ethan scoffed. “Are you seriously asking that? Look at your surroundings, Takemura. Many lives have been lost because of the greed of Saburo. I lost my hometown because of a corpo trying to milk money from the locals. Well, I destroyed that plan of course, but it doesn’t mean my hometown will be back to what it was again…”
“That doesn’t answer my question.” said Takemura. “Why do you want to kill Saburo-sama?”
“Because he’s the epitome of what corpos are.” Ethan answered. “Greedy, power hungry, authoritarian, control-freak… I could go on if you want.”
Takemura was quiet for a second. “And what will you do now that Saburo-sama is dead?”
“Changing my target, what else?” said Ethan. “Although, I heard that Yorinobu is quite anti-corporate, maybe I can help him… let’s say… took out his competition… Hanako, Michiko… but I heard Michiko is better than Yorinobu… I don’t know, we’ll see.”
Takemura’s eyes widened, seemingly realizing who’s in front of him. “You are Ghostwire… Then… Could I hire you? for a contract.”
Ethan raised his brow. “For what?”
Takemura lowered his head. “To kill Yorinobu-sama, if everything else fails.”
Ethan acted interested. “How much are you offering?”

“Everything I have.” said Takemura.
“Which is not much.” Ethan pointed out.
“I have another account that is not tied to Arasaka,” he said quietly. “I will give you everything that I own if you accept this contract.”
“Upfront?”
“Upfront.” Takemura nodded. “But it is only a last resort. I will try my way first, if anything happens to me or V, you will need to do the contract.”
Ethan frowned. He didn’t say anything again, he just stood up. He walked towards Takemura, and stared at him. “You are desperate.”
“I am.” Takemura answered. “I have been dishonored, and I wish to have my honor restored.”
Ethan thought about it for a while, before answering. “Fine, call me if it comes to that.” Ethan pointed at Takemura, transferring his ‘work’ contact to him.
Takemura. “Thank you.”
“A job’s a job.” Ethan continued. “Though I would prefer the job to not come from a corpo, but you’re exiled, so I guess it doesn’t count anymore.”
Ethan then turned towards Vic, who was focused on saving V. “Vic, I’m leaving, put V’s medical bills on my tabs.”
“Sure!” Vic said. “You’ll pay for that bullet you lodged into my floor too!”
“Fine.” Ethan hummed, and he walked away from the place, leaving the three alone.

Ethan is now speeding through the streets of Watson, trying to call his friend Judy again. When she picked it up, her voice sounded quite tired.
“You okay?” asked Ethan.
“Yep.” Judy answered. “Evie’s quite… heavy… and before you ask, yes, she’s fine… I think…”
“Just… don’t let her go out of your watch, okay?” Ethan continued. “Her state is not good, she might even—”
“I know, you said that already.” said Judy, seemingly not wanting to hear the next words. “Listen, you think you can do something for her?”
“Like what?”
“I don’t know… I just hope—”
“I’m not god, Jude.” Ethan said. “I can’t do everything.”
“Right…” Judy sighed. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine, just rest for a bit.” Ethan said. “I’ll go to your place this evening, I’ll bring some food for you and her.”
“That sounds preem.” Judy smiled behind the call. “Just don’t bring a kibble, I hate that stuff.”
Ethan scoffed. “Who do you think I am? A fucking psycho?”
“I’m not surprised if you’re one of them.” Judy countered.
“Fuck you.” Ethan mocked.
Judy just laughed. “Fuck you too.”
