A peculiar feeling overcame me—I guess I had been living too crazy of a life until now. Although everything I had done was to get rid of the death flag, it seemed I had gone through positive changes in the eyes of others. “I’ve also heard that you have successfully undergone a negotiation with Lord Elios today,” Madam Perez continued.
“O-oh, no. I am still worried that I might have made a grave mistake.”
With a faint smile, Madam Perez shook her head. “Not at all. His Grace will certainly praise your deeds once he returns.”
I had never received such compliments… I began to feel ticklish for receiving praises for the first time for having done something. Feeling my face grow hot, I mumbled, “Thank you for saying that.”
Madam Perez turned to the clock. “I’ve occupied you for too long with my unnecessary comments when it is near your bedtime. There’s a girl who works in the laundry room—she is excellent at embroidery. I will send her up tomorrow.”
“Thank you. Have a good night.”
“You as well, my lady.” She bowed before heading out of the room.
I ran to my bed once she left. Once I threw myself into the coziness of my mattress, the soft and warm blankets embraced me. It was past my bedtime, but I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep.

It had been a while since the emperor began drinking alone in his bedroom. He began to feel irritated. ‘Where is that damn b*stard?’ He was about to call for the grand chamberlain when a voice called to him.
“Father, I heard you called for me.” Smiling, the emperor raised his head. As ordered, his son was not donned in his usual helmet.
‘I’m glad he listened. Thanks to that, it will be easy to check his reaction.’ Wearing a satisfied smile, the emperor pointed to the chair across from him. “Maximillian, come and sit down.” Once his son sat down, the emperor poured wine into the golden goblet until it was filled to the brim. “Here.” But instead of bringing the drink to his mouth, Max picked up some snacks.
“I’m avoiding drinks these days.”
Taken aback, the emperor asked, “What was that? Why?”
Max replied with a smile. “I haven’t been feeling well.” His answer didn’t make sense, but the emperor couldn’t argue against it. He instead glared at his son.
‘You’re choosing not to drink, huh? It might be difficult to get into your head then.’ The emperor’s face crumpled once he realized this wasn’t going to be as easy as he thought it would be.
