After checking our statuses, I noticed that we definitely improved, though it wasn't by much. I also seemed to have gotten a new skill.

My Heart to You (B Grade)

Sharing your feelings is no easy feat, however, you can.

"Really?"

"Would it kill you to give me more info?"

Luckily, I could get the gist of this skill. I think it's what allowed me to ease the mind of others. With my 'Peace of Mind' skill which made me calm, this new skill allowed me to share that calmness.

It was already morning; Rio and I had finished our daily run and now he was working. We still had 24 gold coins, so he really didn't need to work but I think he enjoys it.

"Hey Rio, I'm going out do you want anything?"

"Ah, no thank you, Leo! I'll see you later!"

"Alright, bye."

I decided to head to the market, there wasn't anything in particular I was looking for though. I just thought it'd be nice to look around.

I looked around for a few but there was nothing noticeable. As I was getting ready to head back to the inn, I ran into the princess and her bodyguards.

"Oh! Hey, Leo."

"Greetings to the-"

"Stop that."

"Hello."

"What're you doing around here? Looking for something special?"

"Nothing really, just had a look to see if anything seemed interesting."

"Couldn't find anything though."

"That's because you aren't looking in the right place, here, follow me!"

"Huh?"

She took me inside a big building

"This is the auction house! There actually holding an auction in a few minutes, care to join me?"

"Is that what you were doing around here? Sure."

"Yup!"

I don't remember writing anything about an auction house, but it sure is welcomed. Thinking about it, how the fuck did I forget about an auction house? Why didn't I have the main character visit an auction house or something? I really am a dumbass.

We had seats in the V.I.P section, was I allowed to be there? I have no fucking idea, was I going to ask any questions? Nope.

"This place is pretty fancy."

"It is! Isn't it?"

"Were you looking to buy something today?"

"Ah, no, my father had asked me to be here today. He told me if I see anything interesting to buy it."

"I see."

We had some more small talk before the auction started.

The auctioneer made some basic speech about welcoming us and blah, blah, blah. I didn't pay attention to anything he said. But shortly after the auction started.

They showed some pricey items and the princess had bought 1 or 2 items by the time they reached the third to last item.

"Next! We have an emerald necklace. We obtained this item from a demon village! The starting price is 1 gold!"

What?

Looking at that necklace had me shocked. It was an amulet of protection. An A-Grade artifact.

I had added many artifacts to my novel, and that amulet was one which didn't have an impact on any of the main cast. Though it was really useful. In the past, it had protected a knight from an S-Rank spell's attack. The amulet was called Spellbreak.

I had bid 1 gold.

I was quickly outbid, and the price rose to 3 gold.

"4 Gold."

This was as much as I could bid, If I went any further, I wouldn't be able to afford Heavensward.

"5 Gold!"

Shit.

Oh well, I didn't need it that much anyway. It would've been nice to have but I could live without it.

"6 Gold!"

I heard from my right. The princess was now bidding for it.

Did she notice its value? She'll probably be able to sell it for a lot, good for her.

After a few back and forth bids the princess was able to buy it for 12 gold coins.

She went to pick up her items and I started to walk back to the inn.

"Ah, wait!"

She stopped me.

"You wanted this, right?"

She had Spellbreak in her hand.

"I did."

"Then here, take it!"

"But it's yours?"

"And I'm giving it to you."

"Why?"

"You really helped keep the citizens calm after the attack."

"Yeah, but you already paid me for that."

"Just take it!"

She dropped it in my hand.

"Do you know what this is?"

"I don't."

"It's an artifact."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah."

"Well, it's yours now."

"Are you sure?"

"Don't make me repeat myself."

"Gotcha, Thank you."

"Well, the next time we see each other will be during the application period! Goodluck!"

"Goodluck, Princess."

She and her bodyguards started heading back to the castle while I headed back to the inn.

"Are you sure about giving him an artifact, Princess?"

"Yeah."

"Did you know it was an artifact?"

"Nope, not until he mentioned it."

"Aren't you curious how he knew it was an artifact?"

"Slightly, but he's trustworthy."

"Do you like him, Princess?"

"I think that he's my first friend that isn't because of my status. All I feel towards him is friendship."

---

I entered the inn and sat at a table with Rio. He was able to get off work early and we started to eat together.
