The club landed in front of me, I was panting heavily. I had moved back, barely avoiding being crushed.

The Ogre had a smile on its face.

It was at this point I noticed the ring-

An artifact?

The Ogre had lifted its club up again and swung down.

*SLAM*

I barely jumped out of the way, quickly pushing myself back to my feet I looked at its eyes.

I felt faster- No, I was faster, I wanted to check my status but there was no time.

It had lifted up its club and swung again, it was getting closer to hitting me every time. I needed to run. But if I did that, it would probably go back and attack the others.

So, I taunted it again, I don’t think I needed to sing to use that skill.

“Can’t hit me, can you, pussy? Let’s play cat and mouse!” My voice shook as I spoke.

Its eyebrows furrowed; it looked like it worked, as much as I wanted to think about the conditions to use the skill I couldn’t-

I started to run with all my strength into the woods. I could hear the loud stomping behind me, I had no idea how close it was, I wasn’t planning on killing myself by looking back.

I was running out of breath; it was getting hard to breathe. The sounds of its footsteps never seemed to stop.

Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit! I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die.

I took a sharp right turn and snuck a look at it, it was practically on my ass.

*BAM*

My hair lifted from the force of his attacks

I was getting exhausted; we were a fair bit away from the camp.

“RAAAAAAAWH”

The Ogre screamed.

Its voice hurt my ears, it felt like a serrated blade was going through my mind. But I never stopped moving.

I heard its footsteps getting faster and closer, I was slowing down.

I took another quick left after I head his club being lifted

*SLAM*

At this point I was stumbling, my hands were bleeding as I pushed them off the trees so I could stay up.

Exhausted, I could barely feel my legs anymore, it hurt to even breathe.

The sound of its never-ending footsteps never seemed to slow down, completely contrary to me, who was getting slower by the second.

...An opening? To where I was heading, beyond the trees I could see a small opening.

I could barely think to myself,

Isn’t that... bad? Fuck... can't turn...

“RAAAWH!”

The Ogre screamed again.

Still moving forward, I was about to reach the opening-

Huh?

My eyes widened; I was falling forward.

A branch?

I rolled and tumbled a few feet forward, I ended up underneath a tree, facing the Ogre.

I could see it smiling and walking slowly towards me.

Shit... I’m dead...

I can’t move...

It hurts... I'm tired...

I decided to check my status one last time, since I couldn’t do it earlier I might as well do it now.

Huh? So they were higher...

I looked at the ring which was shining black; The color had started to change from black to blue.

The Ogre was getting closer.

Haah, shit...

I looked to the sky and closed my eyes.

I could hear the Ogre lift its club.

Alright, alright
This is just the pinnacle, you'll be alright, yuh
Bones, I hear 'em snap
But I'll be alright?

I’m sorry... Rio.”

*SLAM*

A metalic sound could be heard.

*TING*

Huh? Slowly opening one eye, I could see Mr. Mispholfo and Ms. Brent standing in front of me. She was blocking the Ogre’s club with her sword.

“Tsk, how did an Ogre get on the testing grounds...” Ms. Brent clicked her tongue as she pushed the Ogre’s club back.

Mr. Mispholfo knelt down in front of me before putting his fingers to my throat to check my heartbeat.

“He’s alive. No fatal injuries.”

“How fast can you deal with the Ogre, Ms. Angelina?” Mr. Mispholfo had looked back towards Ms. Brent

“It’ll be faster if you help me.”

“Then let’s do this quickly.”

“Of course.”

I could only think of one thing before I passed out-

Plot armor?

---

I jolted my body up as I looked around.

Around me were white walls, a white ceiling, beds, curtains, medical supplies and a sink.

Infirmary?

I looked at my bandaged hands before looking towards my right,

Rio?

Rio was sitting in a chair next to my bed, he had his head down on the bed.

Haah, I sighed as I stretched my arms up.

I had survived.

I looked at one of the beds which had a bandaged-up Gene in it, he was still unconscious.

He did get thrown by the Ogre after all, it’d be stranger for him to be up before me.

I laid back down and stared at the ceiling,

I really survived, huh? Tch, haha... I let out a little chuckle, it really felt like I had plot armor there. I was lucky... I don't think it’ll happen again...

I looked at the ring which just looked like a plan ole ring now.

An artifact...

Truth be told, this ring had saved me, I would’ve probably died at the Ogre’s first swing without it. When it shone black it boosted my agility and stamina. I checked my stats again and they were back to normal.

I had too many questions, as I stared at the ceiling, I began to wonder about each of them one by one-
