Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Free Slaves.

Pharherb building. Inside one of the room, the Blood Shield mercenary member are having conversation with Mr. Sylas.

 

“Cough, like I say we bring in a new recruit for our mercenary group.”

 

“Liam, most of the new recruits are children.”

 

“We need to think long term.”

 

“Yes, Mr. Sylas, we can use them in the future.” Sara spoke.

 

The rest of the members are quiet because they all are afraid of Mr. Sylas. Liam is also afraid, but he has no choice; he is the leader of the Blood Shield mercenary.  

 

I have received a message that Blood Shield mercenaries have returned. After that I found out their number is more than usual. The problem is most of them are children. I almost thought I was going to the wrong spaceship.   

 

Liam has explained what happened. Listening to his explanation gave me a headache, after settling the free slaves inside the Pharherb building. I am having a discussion with them, what to do with the free slaves. To make slavery legal, on Vedion they called slaves an orphan.

 

I am not surprised they found a loophole in the law. For example, bribery is wrong but lobbying for politicians is not. Another is, helping the poor will make them lazy and bad for the economy. But bailing the corrupted big company is to save the economy. In the end the one who will suffer is the civilian.

 

“What is your plan for free slaves?”

 

“I don’t know.”

 

After thinking for a solution I spoke. “For the children we will open an orphanage and for the adults they will join the Blood Shield mercenary group. They get paid since they are not slaves.”

 

“What are you going to do to the children?” Liam asked warily. Because he doesn’t want the children to become a lab rat. 

 

“The children need to learn to read and write first. After that we will see.”

 

“Thank you.” Hearing that not only Liam, the rest of the group were also relieved. They know how cruel Mr. Sylas is when doing the human experiment. They have seen what will have happened to the failed experiment.  

 

When they leave the room. Because of my second body's closed distance, I begin to meditate. I can tell right away what is going on with my second body. My second body has already reached apprentice rank, and it will be a long time before it reaches adept rank. I've already assigned Devin, Elena, and Vivian to look after my second body.

 

I walk outside the room to continue my experiment on hoary virus. I need to buy people that have been infected with the virus soon to test the vaccine and drug. Or I can kidnap the criminal that has been infected with the virus.

The free slaves are anxiously waiting for what will happen to them. When they hear that, they will enter an orphanage and most of them cry. Because they thought they would become slaves again.

 

Only after Liam and others explain that the orphanage here is different on planet Vedion. That they all calm down and stop crying. 

 

“In Blood shield mercenary you need to remember one important thing: don't betray Mr. Sylas.”

 

“Who is Mr. Sylas?” One of the new member ask

 

“Mr. Sylas is the true leader of Blood Shield mercenaries. Sara and the rest will explain to you the other rule later.” 

 

“What about us?” The children ask.

 

“Someone will take care of you later. Remember you need to behave well if you want to stay.”

 

After waiting for a while. A woman wearing office clothes enters the room. “Hello, my name is Vivian, please follow me.”

 

“Vivian, thank you for looking after them.” Liam spoke.

 

“I am only following Mr. Levi's order.” Vivian after that ordered the children to follow her. At the outskirts of the city Levi has bought several large buildings. One of them is suitable to be turn into an orphanage.

Inside of the lab my face is furrowed looking at the result. I got the blood from several alien species. I thought the hoary virus is all the same but I am wrong. Either the virus changes when entering a new host or it evolves inside the host body.

 

From what I found out, the hoary virus on Xeater has already begun showing symptoms on healthy and young people. Since that place is the origin of the virus I am not surprised. But that means I need to create the cure fast if not my mom's life will be in danger.

 

I better check the member of Blood shield mercenary before allowing them to do another mission.

 

The result of the test looks promising but I still need to pass the clinical trial. Finding and trying to convince family members to sell their infected family will take a lot of time and money. I made-up my mind, tonight I need to find people to test the vaccine and drug.

While both men are talking, a white mask figure wearing a coat is walking past them. None of them can see the white mask figure.  

 

I ask Vance to gather information about all the underworld criminal groups. Their organizational structures are like the mafia , different from small criminal organizations that only stay on one planet. They have several bases in other galaxies. There are three prominent mafia organizations on Teria.      

 

I enter a hotel and take a lift to my room. There are many people with weapons guarding the hotel. Members of the mafia who become infected by the hoary virus are being treated here. They do not want to stay in the hospital because it is overcrowded and unsafe because of the virus.

 

While I am walking in the corridor, several doctors and nurses come out from one of the rooms.

 

“They are crazy even though they forced us, we can’t do anything about the virus.”

 

“Shush, do you want to die here? let’s leave.” After hearing that the other doctor and nurse turn pale and quickly go to the lift.

 

Gambino family, one of the powerful mafia organizations on Teria. Right now their Boss Felice Gambino is laying on the bed with several machines linking to him. The elderly man is already in a coma because of the hoary virus.  

 

Inside the room there are a group of people. But from their reaction they are not friendly to each other.

 

“Do you want a family war? It's better if you give up!”

 

“Why should I give up; I am the oldest here!”

 

“It’s better if you both give up!”

 

“How dare you!”

 

While they are arguing they suddenly feel sleepy. Before they can do anything they are already falling to the ground. When the door opens a man with white mask enters the room and closes the door.

 

I take out a small vial and syringe. After extracting the liquid inside the vial using the syringe. I stab it to the elderly man's shoulder that is laying on the bed. Raising my hand, I channel my energy inside the elderly man's body. With this I can track this man later.

 

Going outside the room I search for other infected people inside the hotel. Doing the same after the people inside fall asleep I enter. There is an elderly woman, man and woman sleeping on the floor. There must be an elderly man's family.

 

Taking out a new small vial and syringe. I do the same thing like in the first room and stab the needle into the man's shoulder.

 

I leave the room and go to another room to do the same thing. I see a woman with small children near the infected person. In another room, a middle-aged man and woman are holding the hand of an elderly woman. Every room I see infected people with their families or friends.

 

I have no feelings because the Gambino mafia organization has committed many atrocities. I don't mind becoming a devil as long as I can cure my mother and followers. If the vaccine fails I will find another criminal to test.

One month later, many underworld organizations are in chaos because of the death of their leader and higher up. Because of that the government has been forced to get involved.

 

 A black car stops in front of the large gate of a building.

 

“Master Levi, we have arrived.”

 

Outside of the car I see a building that has been turned into an orphanage. After knowing who is coming, the guard quickly opens the gate. Because I am too busy and don’t have time to check the orphanage, I only read the report.

 

Coming out from the car I can see several people running toward my direction. I recognize the face of the skinny middle aged man that runs the fastest. According to the report his name is Bruno the director of the orphanage that has been hired.

 

“Huhuhu…Master Levi…. sorry to be late…. greeting you…Huhuhuh...” Bruno tries to catch his breath.

 

“It's fine, show me the orphanage.”

 

“This way…Huhuhu.” Bruno is nervous right now. He is really lucky to get this job, the pay is good and not that hard. Compared to his previous job, it is like ground and the sky.
