Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 48. The Elite Soldier and The King I
Meanwhile, Angel and Rose continued to chat casually despite their unusual dating place. Indeed, this was weird for others but for both of them who grew up in a conflicted environment, this was a normal thing.
Angel took a training sword from the weapon rack.
"The most important thing about swordsmanship is self-control, timing and footwork. Put some concentration on your enemy when you fight, then..." He slashed the sword in the empty space, making moves as if he was attacking his enemy.
"You can defeat your enemy in one cut or thrust," he continued. Well, Angel knew even though it sounded simple, without hard training it was difficult things to do. But since Rose asked how he could defeat his enemy in one hit, even when he was still the Prince of Asteria, he decided to give a brief explanation about it.
"I see. But I think it's not as easy as you say," said Rose. Think again, she had seen dozens of swordsmen who immersed themselves in hellish training but none of them had abilities like him.
Angel put the sword on the rack.
"Indeed. It's because I have Asteria's royal blood so I can achieve this from a young age. The talented one will take at least decades to achieve it." There was no arrogance in his tone since he simply said the truth.
"So it's simply in your blood," she concluded.
"More or less," said Angel. "Just like how you can make a medicine or treat someone easily when the other doctor has given up," he added.
"Well... But it's still learnable," she retorted politely.
"Then why have I never seen a doctor who has the same ability as yours? Or... Does the Heart family's ability not only make medicine and poison?" Of course, he meant her healing ability.
Rose panicked after hearing that, especially since she had used her ability in front of his elite soldier, Rai.
"I don't know what you are talking about. But for sure, I can't bring the dead back to life," she replied and continued on her steps.
Angel chuckled and followed her.
"It's just a random guess. You don't have to panic," he said in a casual tone.
"I'm not panicking. I'm just a little confused why you can think of that," said Rose.
'Did Rai break his promise and tell him?' she thought. Rai was his elite soldier so he might have done it. Thinking of Rai, it reminded her how Rai could fight expertly that night. He even could defeat that many rebels in a short of time.
Her curiosity made her stop in her tracks and turn to him.
"I just remember. I once met an elite soldier who had the same fighting ability as you."
Angel also stopped.
"Really?" he asked. He immediately caught what she meant was him, but it would be strange if he recognized it right away. After all, he couldn't admit Rai was him since that would be the same as admitting that he had Teleportation ability.

"Yes. His name is Rai. I mean his nickname and he always wears a mask," she added.
"Oh, him. Yes, I remember him. He is one of my best soldiers," Angel replied.
"Have you seen him recently?" Actually, she wanted to ask if Rai said anything to Angel, especially about her hidden ability, but she couldn't say it directly.
"Not yet. He hasn't returned from his last mission."
"Is that so..." Rose muttered.
"Then has he sent you his report?" she asked again. Rai could have sent a Magic Messenger to Angel.
He chuckled.
"Rai isn't a magic user, Rose. So he can't send a Magic Messenger to me. His magic power comes from the sword I gave him," he replied as if he could read her mind.
"A letter maybe?" she guessed. But in her heart, she hoped Rai kept his promise.
"He hasn't reported anything to me. Why are you asking about him? Did something happen between you two in Ecrin Village?" he teased.
"Nothing. I just wanted to give him a proper thanks. But you sent him on another mission before I could do it." But then she realized something.
"Wait for a second... So it's you who sent him, not General Flare." She deduced from his words.
"I already bestowed him with a special sword, what makes you think he's under Flare's authority, not me?" he said in a casual tone.
Rose fell silent. Her mind deep in thought recalled what happened that day, including the Euphorion soldiers' weird gesture, the servant who survived for no apparent reason, the dead horse and Rai's appearance.
"Is that mean... What happened that day is within your predictions?"
Angel gave her a smirk.
"Correct."
Rose's eyes met her husband's cold face. Either in fear or amazement or maybe both... She and King Eudon fought against the rebels desperately, yet Angel overcame it easily.
