Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 53. The Royal Dinner III
After the servants left and the door closed, Angel put the glass in his hand and wiped his mouth with a napkin, indicating he had finished his dinner.
"What do you want to talk about?" he said in a calm tone.
"Pearl Gate City. I want to know how the city is now," said Rose. The traces of her guilt were clear from the tone of her voice.
Angel was quite surprised to hear that.
'Does she know about the report?' he thought. But Chancellor Allan said nothing about it, neither did he. It was weird if she realized this from the Chancellor's simple words.
"Why are you suddenly asking it? Did someone mention it to you?" he asked curiously.
"I'm just curious." Rose returned her gaze to her empty plate and looked at it in a daze.
"I know how vicious the poison is. Even with the antidote, it will take a week to completely dissipate the poison. The poisonous air is easily spread over the area. The rain that falls on the city will become toxic that can pollute the soil. If you let it for too long, it can kill the plants and pollute the rivers near the city," she explained.
This was why her grandfather forbade this poison. This poison was too strong and could not only kill humans but could also destroy nature. War by using this poison was tantamount to destroying all life in the land and the sea. This was also the reason why she was so disappointed in her uncle when she found out he gave it to Ilex as payment to save her.
Her explanation made him feel grateful that he had locked the city with his dark power in the first place.
"For the time being, I haven't done anything to the city. I just locked it up with my dark powers and ordered my troops to guard the city from afar."
His words made her frown in confusion. If she calculated correctly, the time when he conquered Asteria and when Pearl Gate City's incident occurred was too short.
'Did he check it when he brought his troops to attack Asteria?' But this was too weird. Pearl Gate City was in Northwest Euphorion, while Euphorion North outpost was in the North, far from that city. It was ineffective and Angel shouldn't beat Asteria that fast. Rose returned her gaze to Angel.
"You locked the city with your dark powers? How did you do it? I mean... How could you do it that fast?" Think again, Angel also made a declaration of war so soon. Even though he could have gotten Pearl Gate City incident news from a Magic Messenger, he should have to make sure that the news was true before he makes that decision, right? In addition, the decision to make a declaration of war was not something that could be taken in one meeting. Yet his counterattack on Asteria's attack showed how fast his response was.
A smirk appeared on his lips.
"I can't tell you. Unless you are my real wife," he said casually. Of course, Rose was confused about this since it was impossible for an ordinary human, but with his Teleportation skill, anything was possible. But he couldn't tell her.
"Does this have anything to do with your strange power?" Rose made a wild guess. That was all that crossed in her head. But seeing how Angel was able to predict his opponent's movements, it was possible that he already had some prevention from the start. It was just... He never expected such a poison to exist.
"More or less," he replied in the same relaxed tone.
Rose fell silent. Her mind was filled with various possibilities and speculation about his power, but none of it met the requirement to create that event. Her curiosity continued to tickle her. But she knew if she wanted to know more, it meant she agreed with his request.
"So what are your plans for the city?"
After he took another sip of his glass, his hand lowered it. His gaze remained on Rose.
"I'm planning to visit the city to spread the antidote. Maybe around next month, after my work is done." That was all he could do since he hadn't found any solution for that City.

But then Rose's words took him by surprise.
"Take me with you," she said. Her seriousness was evident from the tone and look in her eyes.
Her words managed to furrow his brows and change his cold expression.
"It was my family's poison that destroyed the city. At least I want to pray for the dead," she continued.
