Chapter 10: into the lab

…Sedric's perspective…

The twins both fire 2 more rounds of slug into its head doing next to no damage to it before he pushes them out of the way grabbing the flash bang out of Jake's pouch before slamming the mutant against the wall pulling the pin and stuffing the grenade into the creatures waiting maw and then slamming a regular kbar through its shoulder into the wall. As he gets them around and down the first few steps a loud explosion rings out plus a sound similar to paint being splashed onto walls. "That should keep it down or at best make it harder for it to recover." He says as they make it down the stairs further before they hear the sound of shrieks and screams causing them all to look back up the stairs, then Andrea, Frank and Jake to look back at Sedric, "OK what about the other 40 things up stairs that now know where we are?" Andrea asks with one hand on her hip and the other on her m9. "Look here sheila what do you want me to do eh I'm a merc and gun dealer not a bloody stealthy assassin. Let's just get the hell outta here and further away from them things up there 'k?" Sedric says as they reach the end of the stairs and enter the basement. As he goes to turn around the corner he hears the sounds of someone or something on the other side moving quietly he signs for the rest of the group to be silent and draws his Beretta leveling it on where a normal humans skull would be he turns the corner to find 4 police officers, the one closest to him is missing an eye and seems to have died fighting the others before changing, another who was on its knees tearing into a dead body on the ground has blonde hair and seems to have been shot multiple times before whoever shot them died, the 2 who are right by one eye look similar maybe they had been brothers before they changed one having a scar along his face and the other having a beard.  "ah bollocks!" He says before one eye jumps at him. Sedric puts three in his chest before he gets any closer than a few steps, knocking him down to the floor before the brother tackle him to the floor knocking the berretta outta his hands raising his right arm and holding scarface back as he reaches down for his 44 magnum and shoving the barrel into the bearded ones mouth and painting the ceiling with his brain matter, Sedric pistol whips Scarface off of him and rolls back out of the way as the blonde one leaps onto the spot he was laying a moment ago. As he gets to his feet he sees why the others hadn't helped him yet, Andrea is pumping slugs up the stairs along with her brother and Jake is being pinned to the ground by one eye. "Alright then you dead freak let's see what you got aye." He says as he draws his kukri and takes a fighting stance preparing to take on the remaining 2 by himself. Beard moves first leaping at him snarling and growling as he clears the 4 feet between them in a second but Sedric was an elite fighter in close quarters and he puts it on display side stepping the first swing and putting a round into the blonde before he can move towards him following up with a vicious slash across beards arm lashing it off in a single strike. As he spins back towards the blonde who's only a few steps away which he clears in an instant before firing one round blasting its head all over the floor, growls and snarls behind tell him that beard is back up and rushing at him he spins around facing his last opponent dropping his magnum into its holster and catching him with his now free left hand and doing a classic shoulder toss slamming him into the ground and running the kukri through his head. "That was cool and all but get this thing off of me please." Jake shouts as one eye is still holding him down, with nothing but his m14 between one eye's mouth and Jake's face. "Aye I think I can help ya with that." Sedric says after he collects his berretta.. he turns and puts a round through one eye's head, causing him to go limp and falls flat on Jake, he had considered leaving them and taking the exit into Noir's complex but he knew that he would need these people to get what he wants. What he wants is Noir's head on a spike for trying to kill him off when he found out what they were doing and for what they did to his great grandfather. As Jake is pushing one eye off, Sedric walks past him and grabs the siblings and pulls them into the room and slams the door shut locking it closed, "here help me with this locker." He says as he runs back to a locker set and starts to push it towards the door, the siblings join him pushing it up flush with the door.

"How many were there?" He asks them as he opens his revolver and ejects the casings that he used earlier and puts fresh rounds in their place. "I'd say at least 20 or 30." Frank says looking over to his sister to confirm she nods "30 is a solid count before we started shooting there was only 2 or 3 of those heavily mutated freaks the rest were all regular looking besides the freakish need to try and eat us." She says. Jake, standing wiping the blood off of himself, looks over at Sedric, "Well I'd say they weren't lying about you being a master at cqc.". "I told ya mate you lot wouldn't regret taking me with yas." Sedric says sporting his cheeky smirk. He walks over to the remains that had been chewed on and feels around the corpse looking for the keys and finding them on his belt loop, "ah ha here we are, bloody figures he'd try and run off when the freaks started appearing." He says standing and looking around for where they had been headed. "Are you sure that this is the way into Noir's labs?" Frank asks, looking around, it looks normal enough from left to right there are cabinets, lockers old and new and desks, "it's just a normal police station basement storage room.". "Oh yea mate I'm positive this is where it's at, if they came in here," he says pointing at the corpse, "Then this is where the entrance is." As Sedric finishes saying this Jake pipes up, "not to look or sound like an idiot but could this vent over here be what he was looking for idk where it goes but I know that it's a very odd place for it to be considering it goes down." As Sedric walks over, "Good on ya mate, this Is definitely the opening hidden in the open no one would think twice about a random vent." As He says this he pushes the key into the lock and turns it. You can hear the sound as the lock turns followed by the sounds of lights being turned on below illuminating a room below and popping the vent open with a pressurized hiss. Looking into the room they can see that the room is being illuminated by red lights and looks to be a tunnel to get in incase of emergency, "so who wants to go into the creepy red lighted tunnel first?" Sedric asks, looking over his shoulder only to see everyone pointing at him. Raising an eyebrow, "now that's just rude." He says but starts to climb down anyways grumbling under his breath about the rest of the group being chicken shite. "It's all clear you can come down now." 

 

…Jake's point of view…

As he reaches the bottom rung of the ladder he sees that this tunnel was definitely meant to be used as an escape hatch or to get in Incase of emergencies. Considering the current situation and the nuclear missile the government has decided to use to clean up Noir's mess this could be considered an emergency. "So shall we head in and see what dirty secrets Noirs got going on down here?" Sedric says as he unlocks the door into Noir's complex. But as soon as the door opens we all have our guns leveled at the door, even Sedric has pulled away from the door and has his mp5 up and on full auto, "Sedric wanna tell us what could do this." Andrea asks as they walk into the hall and taking in the sight, the walls are covered with crimson red blood and there are bodies littering the ground everywhere some look to have been trying to escape but didn't make it far, some are missing half their bodies others are missing limbs or have been run through, and some look like they had been put through a meat grinder with nothing left but meat paste.

"Ya know mate if I had a clue how or why this," he gestures around the hall with his left hand keeping his right hand on the trigger, "happened I'd have said so the only thing I could think of is what I saw in a test tube that looked to have been frozen solid. If that got out we need to find the weapons storage. And now!" He says looking thoroughly frightened now. "OK then that's where we are headed, do you have any clue where that's at Sedric or should we look for a security room or a map?" Frank asks looking down the hallway for anything that's moving that's not a person or at least a normal human. "I think there outta be a map posted at intersections here and there so we need to just move down the hallway in whichever direction till we come across the m…" He cuts off as he sees something walk around the corner in the direction Frank and he are watching. 

…Frank and Sedrics perspective …

Frank sees it as well and yells, "run that way now!" Andrea and Jake only turn and look for a second before running down the hallway, Frank and Sedric stare down a wolf that is far larger than any wolf they've ever seen completely filling the hallway and has porcupine esk quills in place of fur and a stegosaurus like tail, with silver eyes that look almost human and glint with intelligence that speak of a mental capacity at the level of a human as well, and they both watch as its face seems to curl up into what looks like a grin showing a row of teeth meant to shred and tear flesh. They both back up slowly till they both reach the end of the hallway as soon as they do the beast starts to move slowly the sound of its massive foot falls and claws clicking and scraping against the subway tiled hallway causing the hairs on Sedric and Frank's heads to stand on end adding in the sound of its breathing that seems to echo along the hall towards them. As they reach Jake and Andrea, Frank sees that there's an emergency lockdown gate system that appears to lock the area down. Looking around he spots the control system for it and fires a round into it causing the gate to drop down locking them off from that Abomination.

 

Unknown to Frank and party they were being watched by security cameras feeding live picture to a security room on the 14th floor where 2 people who looked to have just entered their early 20s watched them.

…mysterious siblings…

"Do you think we can trust them?" One feminine voice asks. "Maybe I'm not sure if anyone can really be trusted  not after what has been done to us here. But I'd like to believe that not all people are like them." A male voice responds, "in any case they have to make it through the malformed and that is difficult even for us."  The male voice says before they go quiet.
