Chapter 131 – 1992-2020

This is actually the last arc but don’t get too excited because there are a whopping 77 chapters in this arc haha, followed by some wrap up chapters.

RenDong lived in Lian Qiao’s house for a long time and his physical condition improved day by day.

With nothing to do, RenDong began to play games with Lian Qiao. RenDong himself was not very interested in games. He has lived for more than 20 years and has hardly touched video games, so his skill was terrible. However, with the experience of the ghost dungeons, RenDong was very handy when it came to playing puzzle games.

Lian Qiao had to deliberately guide and patiently cultivate his game awareness. When RenDong discovered this, he thought sadly: It’s over, he has finally discovered the fact that I’m a rookie.

In their spare time, the two would also discuss the ghost instances.

The Temple of the Five Organs was their sixth instance. It was already difficult to pass that one, what will happen in the seventh instance?

Although the existence of the gentleman made the Temple of the Five Organs a lot more difficult, even if there was no gentleman, the dungeon itself was very difficult. After all, clearing the instance requires sacrificing organs, which forced them to fight each other. Under this premise, there is not much difference whether the gentlemen was there or not.

The gentlemen simply liked to torture people before eviscerating them. It was really the instance that wanted them to die!

“Speaking of which…” Lian Qiao thoughtfully while peeling the fruit, “Isn’t that instance of the Nine Linked Rings the last level for Shi JianChuan? I think now that that instance was actually quite difficult. If it weren’t for having Shi JianChuan as a plug-in, how would we clear the instance?”

Xu RenDong nodded. Not to mention those ghosts with high combat power, just collecting rings with debuffs was an impossible task for just the two of them.

For them, the fifth level’s difficulty greatly decreased due the existence of Shi JianChuan and the subsequent dungeons will also become more and more difficult.

It was simply horrific.

These days, every time the two talk about the instances, there is a faint haze in their hearts. Lian Qiao worried about how to explain to their parents if something happened to the two of them. RenDong was worried about how many times he would have to die tragically before he could find a way out.

Suffering is certain. RenDong figured it out and saw through it.

Rebirth healed his body and could even heal his heart. In a sense, he is invincible.

It’s just that this “invincibility”… was quite miserable.

While cultivating game awareness, RenDong was also working hard to exercise. However, he has just recovered from a serious illness and his so-called exercise was only at the level of “rehabilitation”. Lian Qiao didn’t dare to let him use too much force. After all, almost half of the bones in his body were broken. If the old injury recurred when the dungeon was approaching, it would not be worth the loss.

After the discussion, Lian Qiao decided to write a suicide note first, explaining his legacy clearly. Since he couldn’t give his parents an explanation, he could only give them a sum of money.

RenDong knew that the two of them would survive under his rebirth plug-in, but in order to cooperate with Lian Qiao, he also wanted to write a suicide note and donate all the money he had saved over the years to the orphanage.

The two hid their suicide notes and lived as usual.

After RenDong got better, the two of them picked a day with good weather and went to X University to visit Shi JianChuan. They wanted to ask the real boss who has cleared the instances, what advice he has for them. It would be even better if he had some leftover treasures to pass onto them, since they were useless to him anyway.

Unexpectedly, Shi JianChuan has a habit of indulging in vices during the daytime. He was unable to get up and refused to see guests.

Since it was a matter of life and death,  Lian Qiao didn’t care so much and continued to knock madly on the door. The two inside grew impatient by his rushing them and finally opened the door a crack. With a flushed face and uneven breathing, Shi JianChuan stuck his head out from the crack of the door, his long and narrow eyebrows drenched in a dissatisfied blush. He scolded Lian Qiao extremely violently and then spread his hands.

“Don’t have anything. After the instance released me, I’ve used up all my props and I have nothing left.”

“Then…”

Lian Qiao wanted to ask more but Shi JianChuan said impatiently: “What else is there to ask? If you really have no more options, why don’t you just use the key?”

Lian Qiao’s muscles in the corners of his eyes twitched imperceptibly. Xu RenDong was stunned for a second and then he remembered that they still had a brass key of unknown use.

“What is the key for?” Xu RenDong asked.

When he said these words, Shi JianChuan seemed to remember something. There was a hint of hidden meaning in his eyes. The corner of his mouth twitched and he glanced at Lian Qiao if he didn’t know anything and said, “The key, of course, is used to open the lock.”

Xu RenDong: “What lock? Where is it?”

Shi JianChuan: “When you encounter it, you will naturally know.”

Xu RenDong couldn’t help frowning slightly. These words were the equivalent of saying nothing at all and it was obvious that he was deliberately hiding something. With Shi JianChuan’s sly personality, he knew that this person liked to cheat. So if he doesn’t want to say something, even if you kill him, he won’t say it.

The point is that they really can’t beat him. Otherwise, even if there was no way to extort a confession by torture, it would feel very good to beat him up just to vent his anger.

Shi JianChuan didn’t want to say any more. A jade-white arm stretched out from the door and hooked him back. Although the arm was a little weirdly white, its muscles were strong and graceful. It obviously belonged to a sturdy young man.

RenDong and Lian Qiao left the indescribable office, thinking about the key all the way back.

Lian Qiao was driving the car and, when he looked in the mirror, he found that RenDong was in the passenger seat studying the brass key. RenDong’s fingers slowly stroked the word “Lian Qiao” engraved on it and suddenly said, “This key must be very important to you.”

Lian Qiao was inexplicably panicked and some unspeakable emotions flashed in his eyes. . He moved his lips but didn’t speak for a moment. It took him a long time to reply with the word “En”.

RenDong sighed softly: “It’s a pity that there are too few clues.”

Lian Qiao rarely talked to him out of whimsy. He just stared at the road ahead and said lightly: “Even if you find that lock, you still don’t know what’s behind it. Don’t think too much about it, let’s take it step by step.”

There was no other way. Xu RenDong had no choice but to nod.

The deadline for entering the instance was getting closer and closer. The two are busy preparing. After all, RenDong was young and his body recovered quickly. Coupled with the scientific guidance of the ICU nutrition guide, his physical strength greatly improved.

Lian Qiao’s parents rarely came home so, although he lived in Lian Qiao’s house, he rarely met the two chief directors. One night, Lian Qiao’s mother solemnly called RenDong into a room, closed the door and chatted for a long time. RenDong looked weird when he came out but Lian Qiao’s mother was relieved, with joy written all over her face.

Lian Qiao nervously pulled RenDong aside and asked what his mother said to him.

RenDong: “…” He took out two boxes of things from his pocket, stared at Lian Qiao faintly and said, “Your mother asked me to take protective measures to protect myself.”

Lian Qiao: “???” Lian Qiao looked at the printed words ‘ultra-thin 0.01’. He felt heat burst in front of his eyes and couldn’t help becoming angry. He said, “Damn! What does she mean! Can’t she trust her own son? She thinks I would go out to play around?”

After he said that he began to swear more and wanted to go find his mother to prove his innocence.

“Hey, wait!” RenDong laughed at him, “That’s not what she meant. Your mother said, even if you are not sick, that… the mucous membrane is relatively fragile and easy to wear out. And… there is a pollution channel. If it becomes broken, it will easily get infected so it’s better to lubricate and protect…”

Lian Qiao’s head hurt when he heard this.

“What the hell…” His face was hot and he muttered in a low voice, “How can my mother not be embarrassed to tell you this, even if she’s not embarrassed to say it, I’m embarrassed to listen!”

RenDong looked at the tips of his slightly red ears and felt that Lian Qiao was very cute. Suddenly thinking of playing with him, he stared into his eyes and said seriously: “Your mother also said that the dirt is not only infectious diseases, but also bacteria and fungi. She told you to… wash more before use and it’s even better if you can use alcohol to disinfect it.”

Lian Qiao: “…” Just listening to it makes me feel cold.

Is this really his real mother? Was he adopted?!

Lian Qiao was in a trance when RenDong suddenly asked, “By the way, where is your suicide note?”

“Here.” Lian Qiao stretched out his hand and took down a book on the shelf, which contained his suicide note, “…what’s the matter?”

Xu RenDong said, “I thought about it and we should destroy the suicide note. “

Lian Qiao’s hand slammed through the book.

“No matter how well written the suicide note is, it can’t make up for the pain of losing a child.” RenDong took out his suicide note from his pocket, rubbed the envelope lightly with his fingers and then tore it mercilessly, “We must come out alive.”

Lian Qiao stared at him and then gradually raised his eyebrows.

“You finally…”

Before he finished speaking, Lian Qiao stopped.

Xu RenDong looked at him inquiringly. Lian Qiao shook his head with a smile, didn’t speak, just tore up his suicide note. Then he came over and hugged him and said, “Okay. We must come out alive.”

The calm days passed by and it was finally time to enter the last instance.

Lian Qiao’s parents happened to be absent that day. The two of them put on their backpacks, packed all the equipment they could imagine and waited quietly for the arrival of the elevator at the home.

At eleven o’clock in the evening, the air suddenly stagnated.

A silver-white elevator suddenly appeared in the living room. Everything around seemed to have changed but at the same time it seemed that nothing had changed. The elevator was close at hand. The two stood up from the sofa and Lian Qiao even picked two strawberries from the coffee table fruit bowl.

One was stuffed into his mouth and the other was handed to RenDong’s mouth.

RenDong opened his mouth to eat. It was a fresh winter strawberry, which had a refreshing sweetness and slid all the way into the stomach from the tip of the tongue.

“It’s delicious.” Lian Qiao said.

RenDong smiled slightly: “When we come out, go buy some more.”

Lian Qiao squeezed his hand and said yes with a smile. So the two were no longer nostalgic, took a deep breath, raised their legs and stepped into the elevator.

As soon as the two stepped into the elevator, the door closed automatically and then there was the low sound of a motor running around. This scene was very familiar, as if it has been experienced thousands of times.

In the low roar of the elevator, neither of them spoke, but held each other’s hands tightly.

Soon, a few large characters appeared out of thin air in front of the two of them.

——”1992-2020.”

That string of numbers was like a projection, hanging in the air without any support. The two stared at the numbers for a while, both slightly startled.

“This is…?” Lian Qiao didn’t know what to think then his expression changed slightly. He turned his head and asked RenDong, “You were born in 1992… right?”

Xu RenDong nodded solemnly.

Lian Qiao didn’t speak anymore, just bit his lip and lowered his eyes.

1992-2020.

1992 was RenDong’s birthday and 2020 is this year.

Then, 1992-2020… Before he could think too much, RenDong suddenly exclaimed in a low voice: “Lian Qiao!”

Lian Qiao raised his head, only to see RenDong looking down at his palm. He saw that the white jade-like hand was unexpectedly becoming smaller at a speed visible to the naked eye!

This scene seemed familiar. Lian Qiao’s pupils shrank and he looked at his body subconsciously. His body has not changed in any way and was still the size of an adult.

However, just as he blinked, RenDong had shrunk at an astonishing speed. The jacket and sweatpants all slipped off the body and RenDong had to hold on to it. His now immature face was flushed red.

RenDong spoke again, his voice already as shrill as a child’s: “Why is it only me this time!”

Lian Qiao: “…” He was also at a loss and could only helplessly watch RenDong shrinking and shrinking.

Shrinking to the point where the small hands can’t hold the belt anymore and the short legs can’t support the body.

Shrinking to the point that the whole person has become a dry and thin mass, his little face is purplish red. He had a mouth but no teeth and when he opens his mouth he can only cry.

“Waaaa—”

Lian Qiao: “…” He can’t even speak?!

RenDong’s shrinking speed is unbelievable but at least he stopped at the infant stage. Otherwise, Lian Qiao is really worried that if he shrank more, he would turn into a fertilized egg. How can he take care of him then – keep him in a water bottle?!

Lian Qiao hurriedly picked up the baby and wrapped him in clothes. The clothes still had the body temperature of RenDong but RenDong’s body had turned into a purplish baby.

It’s so ugly…

Although rationality told Lian Qiao that all newborn babies are like this since after all, they had just been pushed through a birth canal… however this was really too ugly!

Dry and shriveled, with wrinkled skin, like an old purple potato.

Lian Qiao couldn’t accept that his handsome  partner had turned into a purple potato! And this purple potato can’t speak yet, only knows how to cry!

“Waaaaa—” When Wrinkled Purple Potato cried, his eyes and mouth huddled together, making him even uglier.

The baby’s cry echoed loudly especially in a small space like an elevator. The sound waves bounced back and forth, shaking Lian Qiao’s brain.

Just at this moment, the elevator door suddenly opened, startling Lian Qiao. Lian Qiao was shocked to find that he didn’t hear the usual “ding” sound, because all the sounds around him were drowned out by the crying!

Why are you crying!

Lian Qiao was at a loss for a long while holding the crying purple potato and finally decided: Who cares, let’s go out and see what’s going on first. No matter how noisy it was, this was  RenDong. He had to take good care of him.

“Don’t be afraid. I will definitely take you out.” Lian Qiao touched Little RenDong’s wrinkled face, wanting to give him a soothing kiss. However, after doing psychological construction for a long time, he still couldn’t kiss.

What’s with this feeling of being a dad…

Lian Qiao sighed in his heart, gave up struggling, hugged the baby and stepped out of the elevator.

The next second, his hands were empty.

“Huh?” Lian Qiao looked at his empty hands in shock.

Where’s – Ren -Dong -?

Did he really become a fertilized egg?!
