While Kaan was heading towards to door he grabbed a table lamp in his left hand to throw it for distraction if it's needed. He then came in front of the door and listened to the corridor, he couldn't hear anything; after that, he reached the door, opened it, and then quickly moved back for if there was a zombie waiting in front of the door, but the corridor was empty.

He began to move on the corridor and saw that most of the dorm rooms were open and empty, there were some blood traces, looking fresh yet he didn't hear anything that can cause these traces.

When he reached the staircase that headed to the first floor, he could see two corpses. He cautiously walked past them and began to descend to the first floor where the biggest area of the dormitory was located, the entrance leading to the cafeteria.

When he reached it, he stopped instinctively because of what he saw. There were tens of corpses on the ground, and he was sure some of them belonged to the people staying in the dormitory. The ground was fully painted with blood, there were blood traces even on the walls.

'What has happened here?'

When the smell of decaying bodies hit his nose, he felt disgusted and when it was mixed with seeing the deformed flesh of the dead bodies, he wanted to throw up but he held it inside. There were two zombies in the hall that were feeding on the corpses on the ground.

He slowly moved toward the zombie which was the closest to him. He could hear his heart beating crazily and he was thinking about the worst situations that could happen, but Kaan knew that he had to pass this threshold in his mind if he didn't want to have a problem in the future.

When he reached a place where he could effectively hit the zombie he stopped and raised the baseball bat in the air. Luckily the zombie was not able to detect his presence, so Kaan hit the zombie on the head causing it the fall to the floor.

Zombie tried to grab him, but he was already out of his grab range and he once again hit him on the head again and again till he was sure it was dead. The zombie was now lying on the ground with his head smashed while Kaan was breathing heavily.

He quickly turned around and saw the other zombie began to walk towards him. The zombie was swaying his hands around as he moved to catch anything he was able to come into contact.

---

Kaan quickly moved around to the zombie to hit him behind to hit him on the back, but the zombie followed its movement. It looked like just the noises coming outside without the sounds of flesh-eating were not enough to suppress the noises caused by him.

Seeing that zombie started to get close he threw the lamp he was holding in his hand to the zombie. Zombie quickly attacked the lamb, focusing on crushing it. Kaan didn't let go of the opportunity and quickly hit the zombie on his leg as strongly as he could.

The zombie lost its already bad balance and fell to the ground, like the first one it tried to catch Kaan, but he was already out of reach. Kaan hit it in the head and killed the zombie.

'Easier than I thought, but I better not let my guard down.'

He once looked at the zombies he killed and then looked around the room. There were some pieces of furniture on the entrance serving as barricades. Then Kaan began to inspect the corpses and saw the traces of cuts from a sharp object all over them.

'It would be really weird if everyone died in the hands of the zombies. It looks like they were killed but…'

He continued to look at all over the bodies and all of them had the same traces of cuts.

'Was it done by the same person or a group of people using the same weapons?'

If it was the latter, it was an understandable situation. He couldn't understand why they would do something like this, maybe just for fun, but if it was the first one it could be a burdensome thing.

Even thinking about one person causing this massacre was enough to give him chills and he didn't know why but he felt this was the case and it made him want to get out of this place quickly.

As Kaan going to move to the cafeteria a white mask lying on the ground next to a corpse catch his attention.

'Is he…?'

Kaan moved to the corpse and looked at it carefully. His face was cut by a sharp object, deformed, and painted with the blood but when he looked carefully he was able to see who it was.

'Usher.'

He was a friend of his. He was interested in making masks and really into rock music. He had a friendly personality, so it was easy to get along with him. Kaan was also interested in masks and other than that they would talk about many things when they had time, he was a good guy for small talk.

Seeing someone he has known created a different feeling inside of him. He was not angry but maybe melancholic? It just felt unjust for someone like Usher to die like this.

Kaan bent over and grabbed the mask on the ground then, it was surprisingly clear than he expected. He gave it a few sways and looked at it.

It was a full-face mask; its base colour was white, and there was no mouth and a little protrusion for the nose; There were also little horns on both of the upper ends of the mask; Other than these two eye holes and black lines on both sides.

Kaan turned the mask and placed it on his face, it suited his face quite well.

'Thank you, Usher. Rest in peace.'

He gave his last words to his dead friend and thanked him for his gift and moved towards the cafeteria door.

His mind was kind of messy state right now even if he tried to not be affected by the things like seeing dead bodies and killing these monsters seeing the dead body of a friend created a blow in his mind, but he couldn't let the feelings pull him down. The day has just started and he had to move forward.
