"Good morning Ayla"

"G-Good morning Milla"

"Alright, everyone's here, let's start the mission briefing"

I took a seat at the soft carpet in the big tent from yesterday's meeting. There are 6 guards and Saint Milla in this tent, and they were waiting for me to get here to start the meeting.

"Alright, today we'll be investigating this part of the mountains"

One of the guards pointed to a spot on the map laid down on the floor, I took a close look at it and realized... That's where the children are hiding...

"Good luck Ayla, I'll be waiting here at the camp then, be sure to come back if you have any wounds, not like you will get any though..."

Me and 5 guards walked our way here since it was not a far walk from the camp, it was around 50 minutes of walking. 

"We will search the perimeter for any demons, any orders before we do that Lady Ayla?"

I don't want these guards to find the children, they might kill them immediately.

"O-Oh, uhm... When you find demons, don't kill them immediately..."

Ah wait, that might be too direct, they'll think I'm suspicious...

"Ah, so you can handle them yourself? Understood Lady Ayla, we will inform you if we find them"

It worked out thankfully. Some of the guards went ahead in the woods to search, I hope they don't find the children. One of the guards stayed behind with me, as if waiting for me to do something. As I was standing right beside him, I realized that this body is quite tall, even the guard only barely reached my chin height.

After some time, the guard spoke.

"You will search for them with your nose right Lady Ayla?"

"Hm? My nose? O-Oh right, yes, I will!"

I remembered that Ayla has a very sharp nose, the nose was used to pinpoint my location when I was hiding from her, it's that sharp.

*Sniff* *Sniff*

I smell... Something... It smells like iron, but liquid like...

Is this... Blood?!

I immediately grew worried, what if it was the children's blood?! I walked towards the direction of the smell, growing increasingly worried each step.

"Lady Ayla! Wait for me!"

I continue to walk, and soon came across a hole, right beside it was a giant boulder. This is where the children were hiding! Did the guards jump in?!

I jumped inside to check on them, I could hear the guard that was following shout something.

"Gather up! Lady Ayla has found their base!"

In the dark cave like room, I can see dozens of cowering demon children on the back. On the center of the room, I can see a dead body, it belongs to one of the guards. The blood seems to come from this body, it would seem that the children managed to kill the guard somehow.

"Thank goodness..."

A few other guards got inside the room from the hole the same way I jumped in. They immediately screamed once they saw the dead body.

"What?! He's dead?! Did those demons do it!"

"Kill them immediately!"

They unsheathed their swords and aimed them at the children. One of them charged immediately towards them.

"Haaaaaaaa"

*Schwung*

*Thud*

His head fell onto the ground.

"What?!"

"L-Lady Ayla?!"

I used my sword to cut his head off cleanly before he could reach the children. His body fell a short time afterwards.

"All of you... Don't you see they're just children?"

Truly unforgivable...

"Lady Ayla?! What's the meaning of thi-"

The last one cowered in fear, it would seem that he pissed himself, how pathetic, I raised my sword up and sliced through him like butter.

"W-Who are you?"

The demon children asked this while cowering in fear.

"Go to the southern forest, they won't search there"

I should have power to hold them from searching that place, I'm the party member of the Heroine after all.

"A-A human speaking demon language?!"

"Grab their armor and swords and go, now! Before they search again!"

"O-Okay!"

They stripped the guards of their clothes and grabbed their weapons, demon children vary in size due to different species of their parents, so the larger ones used the armor and weapons and will act as their vanguard.

The Saint is drinking tea inside her tent, a single guard stand outside of her tent guarding her while also acting as a conversation partner.

Saint Milla immediately jumped out of the tent after hearing the guard.

"What?! Those wounds!!"

She saw Ayla limping alone with slash wounds all over her body, her sword was covered in blood.

"Let me tend to your wounds immediately!"

To think she would get wounded this bad, what happened? she thought. Ayla has the strongest defense in the party, aside from the Heroine Claire, what could possibly hurt her so? Milla casted [Complete Healing] and Ayla's wounds were healed immediately.

"W-What happened out there?"

The guard asked Ayla.

"Someone attacked us... I was the only one who survived..."

"S-So my men were..."

"Slaughtered, I fought them as best as I could but..."

"Was the demon that strong?!"

"It wasn't a demon... It was a human..."

Both Milla and the guard were surprised. Why would a human attack another human?

"Wh-What did they look like?"

"I don't know, they covered themselves with dark clothes, they went away after slaughtering the guards... I'm sorry I couldn't protect them..."

"You shouldn't apologize Lady Ayla, judging from your sword, you must have fought them bravely!"

"Should we report this to Lady Claire, Saint?"

"Yes, we should... A human enemy... Don't tell me it's one of those demon activists... But for now, let's get you to your tent Ayla"
