Chapter 1: The Arrival

"Attention, passengers. The interstellar warp train has now arrived at Planet Ellorth. Please calmly exit to the station."

Xu YaoRan stood up from a cramped seat in the middle of the train compartment. There were only a few other passengers nearby and the compartment was quite empty. 

Walking to the newly opened exit, she heard a now-familiar voice ringing in her head.

"User, this System recommends you find the nearest company focusing on Star Net Entertainment. Climbing the ranks of a rival company is guaranteed to be a reliable method of completing Counterattack System tasks."

"No, I already told you," Xu YaoRan said disdainfully. "I don't care about your tasks and am opening a cafe instead."

"This System is a once-in-a-billion-lifetimes opportunity! Do not underestimate-"

Xu YaoRan ignored the System's pleas and pulled up a map on Star Net. "I don't need to stay in the Interplanetary Transportation District. Ah, here's the Business and Property Bureau. I should be able to find a storefront there."

"Are you even listening?"

"No. Now, where's the bus station?" Xu YaoRan looked around the train station's square.

"Please refrain from casually dismissing this System's suggestions! It is highly inadvisable to purchase something other than residential property upon first moving-"

"Aha! There!" She quickly strode over to the end of the terrace, where a modest hoverbus was waiting. She boarded the hoverbus and swiped her virtual ID across the scanner, before taking a seat near the front and grimacing at the ticket cost. "Thirty credits just to ride a few districts over? This is nearly robbery..." 

"Actually, this price is about average when compared to all planets in the Wave Nebula." The System remarked.

"If you say so, I suppose it's true."

Fifteen minutes later, the bus had arrived at the stop Xu YaoRan was looking for. She disembarked and scrutinized the map on Star Net, comparing the names of streets online to those on signs nearby. "Okay, so take a left, go a little bit, right, then left again..."

Xu YaoRan turned, heading down a busy street to her right.

After a few blocks, the System spoke up. "User, this is not the route to the Business and Property Bureau."

"Oh, so you're finally willing to admit I had an excellent idea and be of help for once?" Xu YaoRan rolled her eyes and kept walking. "This isn't a big district. I'll make it to Bureau in no time, it can't hurt to familiarize myself with this new area, now that I have to live here."

After nearly an hour and a half of wandering the area, visiting some streets more than once, Xu YaoRan arrived at the Bureau.

"Ahhh, my legs are so tired now! I suppose the district really was larger than I thought..." she lamented.

"You turned onto the same few streets at least five times," the System pointed out. "If you had heeded my advice, this would not be the case."

"What nonsense are you speaking?" Xu YaoRan hmmphed. "I did no such thing."
