Chapter 4: CHAPTER 4

In the deepest end of his pool, Alaric sat unmoving with his legs crisscrossed – underwater. This was his usual way of recharging from a hectic day. Being a leader was thrilling but it had its cons. A hundred years since the throne was handed over to him, he could say that he tried so hard to right the wrongs but in a world, every season brings its woes, he was bound to keep learning – modern problems, modern solutions. All in all, he hoped that he was a good ruler to his people.

The number of those who loved him was more than those who loathed him. He understood the hate that came from them – they rubbed him the wrong way and faced the consequences. Most rulers were ruthless, he too, was ruthless; only when he had a solid reason to be.

 As he was meditating underwater, he heard someone jump into the water. As of royal blood, he would easily identify anyone that walked into his space. It was a gift.

A beautiful redhead was swimming towards him. Her skin was pale and her face was filled with tiny freckles that brought out a cute feel to her features. Well-kept eyebrows stood above her black orbs and just below her strong nose were heart-shaped lips held in a seductive smile. Lilith was her name.

She reached where Alaric was and straddle him. Holding his face in her hands, she peppered kisses on his cheeks and eyes. Alaric groaned in annoyance and pushed her away, then swam to the surface. Lilith followed closely and a second later, she resurfaced. Alaric was sitting by the pool when she asked in a seductive voice, “Babe, why do you loathe me this much?”

Even though she was being flirty, Lilith dared not to swim to Alaric and hold him. The King had a pacific expression which was scarier than showing anger. He was unreadable yet almost understood. “Who is your babe?” Alaric gave an exasperated sigh.

“Yeah, I know it was a one-time thing but could you reconsider? We had the best time, don’t you think?”

“Did I assure you like that was the best or what are you implying, woman?” Alaric shot in annoyance though his face still held a calm look.

Lilith was offended, how could he address her like that? She was infuriated.

“What, aren’t you a woman?” The vampire king sarcastically asked when he saw the look on her face. The woman ate back whatever she wanted to spew out and tried bringing herself to the king’s grace.

“Alaric, I know I haven’t…”

“Your highness,” Alaric corrected while drying his face.

“You’re a pain in the ass,” she snapped. ‘Maybe it is hard being nice to someone so stuck-up.’

“In your ass, now leave. You just ruined my time.” Alaric scowled.

“I can fix it,” she wiggled her eyebrows while seductively jutting her left hip. At this point, Alaric was vexed. How could someone be this bovine? “Like that day on the full red moon, I liked how you ripped my clothes and fondled with my…” she had dreamy eyes as she recalled.

“Ever since it’s been had to find someone to satisfy my needs,” she got out of the pool and kneeled next to Alaric. She brought her hands to his chest and gently caressed his abs whilst she pepper-kissed his nape. “You know I need you. I just want us to reminisce about that day. With I in your hands as you bring out that kinky side that I love. I want you to make love to me, Alaric.” Lilith seductively said while her hands glided to the hem of his swim shorts.

‘I regret ever sleeping with this woman. It was during the blood lust – the red moon. Why did I end up with this?’ The king groaned mentally.

The heat was consuming her, on the other hand, Alaric was fuming but he didn’t show. He held a stoic face – his usual face and said nothing. Instead, he turned to her and held her face with his huge calloused hands and tried looking at her, as lovingly as he could – failing terribly. It was hard feigning emotions.

Her heart beat frantically on her chest when his face neared hers. She was afraid, confused but yearning. Yearning for Alaric’s kiss and to make it worse, an emotion almost that of love could be seen on his face – or at least that’s what she thought. He locked lips with her and the kiss started slowly not rough – that would make it so fake. He then pushed his tongue into her mouth causing her brain to grow fuzzy. A moan eluded from her lips as he brought his hands behind her neck – caressing her scalp. He was a good kisser. Alaric then stopped and opened his eyes, he looked at her. She was a breathing mess.

Lilith opened her eyes – red with lust. “Why did you stop?” she stammered.

“I didn’t,” Alaric mumbled and brought his lips back to hers, kissing her brainless until she melted in a puddle. His hands caressed her sides and gently fondled her flesh; heightening the lust in her system. He stopped and looked at her, again. “Is this what you want?” he softly asked.

“I want more,” she heaved a reply with her sultry voice. The king hummed and pecked her lips then opened his eyes and locked eyes with her. “Hope you never forget this…”

“Of course, I won’t.”

A seductive smile was on his face as he held the tiny woman in his hands. Suddenly he snapped her neck and threw her into the pool. “Hope you never forget this. I don’t like being bothered.” He growled and walked to the bench with his clothes. He dried himself and changed into a pair of black jeans and a black shirt. He had decided on wearing casual and walk barefoot.

‘A woman broke her neck in the pool. Take her to the infirmary.’ He mind-linked the guard at the pool area.

Lilith was going to be fine in two days and the only memory she was going to have of Alaric was her fear of him. The vampire king walked away from the scene, unbothered.
