Whoa! Isekai is true, I really got transmigrated into the body of Demon Lord Astaroth.” His reflection from the river proved it without any doubt. The pop up to which he selected yes yesterday back at earth had made him jump into another world.

He sat down on the ground and began thinking about all the events that have transpired and started to join the dots.

“Now from all things that have happened with me there are a few points that could be thought of-

  • This world is one of Magic and sword because those people clearly used some magical spells to kill me.
  • They kept calling me demon then it means that other races like elves, dwarfs and the like also exist besides humans.
  • My body is that of Demon Lord Astaroth so I should be somewhat powerful but how much is a question.
  • If this world is the same as that of the game then I am the most powerful being but if it’s another world then I need to be careful.
  • Those people definitely belonged to an evil cultist group that wanted to summon a demon lord but instead they brought me here.
  • Those pop ups are part of Astaroth magic interface but I need more information about that.
  • Most importantly I am hungry."

Before he could think anything more a loud explosion could be heard and a big fire mushroom could be seen forming near the cave that he escaped from. The explosion was so loud that all the surrounding birds and animals were running from there.

“Shit it must be the knights that old hag was talking about them swarming the place. If they are knights and I am a demon doesn't that mean they would come for me too?”

“Gotta move from here.”

Back in the cave

A group of knights riding majestic horses almost double the size you see on earth can be seen approaching the entrance of the cave where the summoning ritual was performed.

The one at the head of the formation unmounted his horse and the rest of knights followed his lead. He was a burly and muscular man with deep red hair flowing to his shoulders, he had a Zweihander sword around his waist and his entire body was protected by a blue Armour which had runes engraved all over it.

He removed his helmet and from his face his age would be around mid 20s yet the aura around him was that of a refined warrior and noble hearted valorant knight. The red head began going near the entrance of the cave and when he was going to enter the place someone interrupted,

“Sir William let me go first, there could be a hidden trap in there.” This man was most probably second in command.

“No need uncle Gilbert you can be rest assured there is no one alive inside of this place.” William the leader of the knights said to his second in command.

“Sigh, how many times have I told you Sir William, currently you are senior to me in charge so you should not call me uncle.” From Gilbert’s tone it seems that this was a usual thing between those two.

“Sure uncle Gilbert I will try it next time.” William cheekily replied and began walking inside the cave. Just a few steps in and the smell of flesh and bones being burned invaded his senses and despite being a battle hardened warrior who was used to this he squinted his eyebrows and covered his nose.

Gilbert and other knights followed behind him but they were in a much worse situation compared to William, the smell was so toxic that it almost made them puke but being the elites they managed and kept walking forward but going inside made them regret their decision.

Half burned bodies, electrocuted flesh, humans trapped in walls crushed to their death, some had precision cuts on the body, some had been destroyed after freezing. The scene could be called a massacre but none of the knights showed any compassion to the dead. Instead they sneered and kept walking to the altar situated in the middle of the cave.

“Hmm fire attacks, lighting bolts, wind cuts, ice and water magic looks like this was done by an all elementalist mage.” William said after examining the dead bodies.

“True but these shadow cultists deserved that. The one who killed all of them has done a good job. These bunch were getting out of control and someone had to clean them.” Gilbert said and all the knights behind him nodded.

The knights had been working day and night to eradicate these cultists but everytime they were successful in evading them and this was frustrating for the knights so when so many of the cultists were killed by someone they could not help but thank him or her.

“Uncle, you are missing something.” William said while inspecting the altar which was still emitting some mana in the air.

Gilbert did not understand at first but after quickly scanning the area with his mana the expressions of his face changed. The mana residue of a demon was present in the place and the purity of demon mana was unlike anything he had ever seen.

“This-this is impossible. How come demon mana is present here?” Gilbert shouted, gaining the attention of all the knights behind him. Now everyone in the room was talking about it and William had worry written all over his face.

“I don’t know uncle but there is demon mana present here in the altar which only means one thing.” William said and his uncle nodded.

“A summoning ritual to bring back the demon lord from the land of the dead.” Both of them said in unison and everyone present in the room shuddered after listening to it. Talking about demon lord was taboo and here these cultists were trying to bring him back just how preposterous was this?

“But Sir William, if the cultists had been successful then why are all of them dead?” Gilbert asked and William had been thinking about this too. The summoning ritual was forbidden magic and it needed absolute perfect conditions to be successful one error and everyone in the vicinity of the altar would be dead.

“I think there was a problem with the summoning ritual. The ritual is a difficult process and it requires an absurd amount of mana to be successful so maybe they failed and died in it?” William responded but somewhere in his mind the possibility of ritual being successful was also there.

After listening to what their captain had to say all of the knights had relief. Just imagining demon lords made them shit their pants and the cause was the dark history of demons and other races. The stories of demons and their wicked personalities were  household affairs and all the knights had grown up listening to those stories.

“Okay everyone search their bodies and try to find anything useful.” William ordered the knights and they began searching the bodies but when the flesh and bone was burnt and discombobulated how come other things could sustain themselves? After rigorously searching all the dead bodies they reported to Gilbert and William who nodded.

“Sir William, we should go back and report this to his highness. This matter is quite a serious one.” Gilbert said in a heavy tone to which William nodded and all of them left the cave. But when they were mounting their horses to return back to capital William was standing at the entrance of the cave with Zweihander in his hands.

“Sir what are you trying to do?” Gilbert was confused at his antics but he thought that maybe there was someone alive in the cave and William wanted to kill him so he also brandished his Rapiers but William stopped him and said,

“Uncle don’t you think this place is now an abomination for our empire?” William had red eyes and his entire body was sending its mana to his sword which was also glowing red.

“Abomination?” Gilbert asked.

“It was used by cultists which makes me mad but they used it to summon a demon and not just any demon but a demon lord so why should we not destroy this place?” William said and now the space around his sword was pulsating. It was like a dense amount of mana was waiting to be unleashed and Gilbert who has been with him for years understood the meaning behind this.

“Everyone gather your mana and form the holy shield.” Gilbert ordered and every knight began chanting. Soon the entire boundary around them and Gilbert was enveloped with a white phantasm of a huge shield and which radiated holy energy.

William on the other hand had completed his preparation and after gathering enough mana for his special skill he shouted, “Sword smite”

He hurled his sword in an arc and from his sword a red arc went off in the direction of the cave. Its trajectory and speed were quite impressive and once it approached near the cave its size increased and covered the entire area around the cave. The sword smite is a mid level attack skill which upon contact incinerates its target and the surrounding near it and it did just that.

A loud explosion followed by a mushroom cloud of fire erupted from the impact of William’s attack and the shockwave produced levelled the entire area and if not for the holy shield powered by so many knights they would have been dead too. After a few minutes the air became clear and everyone looked at the aftermath, it was much deadlier than they had expected.

William was standing ahead of them with his own shield protecting him and in front of him a huge pit was formed due to his attack.Gilbert had seen this attack too many times but everytime his old bones get a shiver from the sheer intensity and destructive mana of his nephew.

“What are you staring at uncle, don't we have to go back and report to his highness?” William asked a dazed Gilbert who came to his senses after this.

“Everyone, we are going back to the Capital.”

With Astaroth

“Damn this body is amazing, I have been running for almost half an hour and there’s no fatigue whatsoever and what’s even more crazy is that my speed is blazing fast despite the fact that I am not pushing myself.” Astaroth was breezing through the forest and was thinking why has no animal approached him yet?

How would anyone approach him? He was leaking an enormous amount of mana from his body and anyone who came in the 5km range would die if he’s not strong enough.

He stopped running and remembered about pop ups that were used in games. He tried asking the popup about his situation but there was no reply.

“Uhh system are you there? Yo system come on I need some help.”

“Okay if not the system then maybe it’s an AI? Is it JARVIS or FRIDAY or something else? Yo please come out I need some serious help.” After saying all this nonsense and not getting a reply he sat down on the ground and began thinking what should he call the pop up?

Up until now the pop up only helped him when he was in a life or death situation so maybe it activated only in those specific conditions? But he quickly dropped this idea as it was almost like having nothing with you.

He calmed down and began thinking and due to the fact that his body was much much superior in everything, his intelligence and thought process had also improved by miles so when he really put his mind into it he remembered the game interface.

“Game you there?”

Affirmative

“Yess! this is it. The game gave a system-like interface to all the main characters and since Astaroth was the last villain he had this.”

“Okay game, what is this place?”

Information lacking

“Aren’t you supposed to know all the things? How come your information is lacking?” He asked in an angry voice.

Player this is a new world

Please explore on your own

He punched the transparent interface but his fist went through it making him even angrier. He thought that with the game he would be much better informed but even the game was lacking in these aspects. But this was not a place to be angry so he calmed down and again asked,

“Game Is this body of Astaroth for real?”

Affirmative

Player has chosen it himself

“Okay so can it do everything he was able to do in the game?”

Affirmative

“Amazing that means I can use magic but I should be careful this world might be a lot more powerful than the game so even if I am in the body of Astaroth someone could kill me.”

Yes player should be careful

Information about this world is not present

“I know so what are all the things you can do?”

Maps- every place that the player has visited would be stored in it.

Observe- allows the player to view information about living and non living things. (limited to level of player)

“Wait, how come you can show me information when you don’t know about it?” He asked and this was a genuine question as the game just replied earlier about its lack of information.

Only player is limited

Game is not

“Damn you game.” He shouted and slumped back on the ground. After laying for sometime he began missing his last world, you only care about something when you have lost it and this was particularly true for him as for the first time he was truly missing his peaceful life which he had taken for granted.

But this silence did not remain for long as the cries of help could be heard south of his location. He frowned hearing that and said out loud,

“Can’t a man have some peaceful time?”
