The mixed class meeting is winding down and we barely got through it. Let me tell you that it took a while for everybody to agree on the nine questions that we would submit for tomorrow's clash.
Well we had to submit it via email and the tenth question would have to be submitted by person via envelope on the day of the clash if the result is a tie.
I got up from my seat and stretched my arms.
"Well I'll be heading out now so I'll see you guys tomorrow."
Minori gave me her usual side eye when I said that.
Following my lead now, everyone else did the same.
I exited the room and slowly walked along the hallway.
At the same time class 1-3 and class 1-1's meeting had concluded as well. So they were beginning to exit their conference room.
Mixing into the crowd of students now. I spotted Asuka who glanced at me before walking away with Kaya Hamuri.
I guess that means that their meeting went swimmingly.
The time is 6:30pm and the sun had set completely.
I checked my phone for any new notifications then sent a text message.
An email came in, I exhaled loudly after reading the contents of it.
I stopped in my tracks then sent another text message to a different person.
After that I made my way back towards my dorm room.
There is a 50/50 chance that we lose this clash for sure. There isn't any way for me to pull a fast one if I am being highlighted during this event. My hands are basically tied.
Finally, I entered my dormitory building and saw Yuka standing by the elevator waiting on someone.
Her head turned in my direction as she noticed me approaching.
"You didn't say much at all during the meeting."
I ignored her and pushed the button that signaled the elevator.
She pouted her lips and poked me on my left arm with her index finger.
"Are you ignoring me?"
I sighed, "There wasn't a need to speak because the both of us get final say on the nine questions we will be submitting. The only one the others have complete control over is the tenth and final one."
The elevator doors opened and we stepped in.
"You're correct there but it's funny how they don't trust each other."
I pushed the 4th floor button then the 5th floor.
"Why should they trust someone who is almost technically in the same boat as them? A person who is equally as hungry may eat the entire meal without leaving as much as a crumb for the other. So raising their guards will be the logical thing to do."
Yuka put her hands behind her back, "So do you trust me Dante?"
I shifted my eyes on her, "I would be lying to you if I said yes so I'll just leave it as partly."
*Ding*
The elevator's doors opened on the 4th floor.
Yuka chuckled a bit then replied. "I can be your ally if you need me to be Dante."
I kept quiet as she exited the elevator.
Alliances only last as long as a mutual goal is there. Who's to say the person won't have a change of mind then blindside you afterwards.
The elevator door opened again, this time on the 5th floor.
I got off and walked towards my door.
Minori stood next to it.
Heh? Is today national waiting for Dante day?
As I approached her, I said "Did you lose your school ID or something?"
"No I didn't. I just need to speak to you that's all."
"What's the issue?"
She shifted her body towards me and replied "What's your plan?"
I passed my student ID over the scanner and unlocked the door.
"I don't really have one but before I forget."
I handed her a navy blue letter sized envelope which had the school logo on it.
She had a puzzled look on her face and asked, "What's this for?"
I turned my door handle and said, "Figure it out and I am counting on you."
After that statement I entered the room and closed the door behind me.
Depending on what Minori does we may win or not. I could easily tell her but she won't be learning anything if I do. Am I a mad lad for risking expulsion in order to test someone else?
Oh yeah I almost forgot I need to send the questions that Yuka and I settled on via email to Yogi then he can forward it to the others, mainly because I didn't bother to take down their emails.
Okkkkk and send.
Oh crap I think I screwed up. This isn't the correct email address.
Who the heck just received that email?
*vibration*
It's a text message from someone.
Well I believe my chances just tanked a bit further to 40/60.
--------------------------------------------------------------(The next day)------->
The day of the class clash
Fifteen minutes until the start of the clash. Everyone else is gathered in their respective conference rooms preparing.
The four students participating in the event will be in a separate room and the event will be broadcasted via camera link to the each conference rooms.
I believe they said something along the lines of making sure that we're 100% focused without any other side distractions.
I entered the room which will be used for the event and saw that the three of them were already there.
Asai gave me a slight nod of the head that indicated a morning greeting and Yuudai kept his silence.
Yuka got sat a few feet away from them said, "It's about time."
I checked my phone and replied, "We still have 5 minutes left before everything commences."
She sighed, "I guess that you're correct."
A few minutes later, a different teacher I will assume for either a year 2 or year 3 walked into the room and said, "Ok representatives, please ready yourselves because we're about to begin. Keep in mind that you have 60 seconds to submit your answer."
Yuka stood next to me then took the pen and paper which were provided for us to solve the questions on.

The first question is directed to Yuka and I.
A food stall sells only hotdogs and chicken sandwiches. In July, the store sold twice as many dogs as cats. In August, the store sold twice the number of dogs that it sold in July, and three times the number of cats that it sold in July. If the total number of pets the store sold in July and August combined was 500, how many dogs did the store sell in July?
They didn't even give us any options to select from. That's pretty unfortunate.
Yuka paused for a moment and then nodded at me.
We decided to pass on answering the question.
It was our turn to deliver our question.
They read over it, paused for a second like it was a shock to them and then passed on answering the question.
Well that was strange. Were they expecting to see something else?
Ok, it's their turn again.
At a recent award ceremony, any 7 of the finalists could be awarded "Most Achieved" and another finalist could be awarded "Runner up." In how many different ways can the two awards be given out?
Heh? Did they just pull these questions straight off the internet? I am actually feeling quite disrespected right now. I'll pass on even attempting to answer it.
After a few moments, Yuka wrote down the answer and submitted it.
Turns out that she got it correct and now we're in the lead 1-0. That's nice.
The turns continued until the 9th one.
I'll admit that the rest of questions were original and kind of stumped us a bit due to them omitting certain 'non important details'. So we either answer incorrectly or passed due to the 1 minute time limit for each answer.
The score is still 1-0. With us in the lead.
The other pair seemed to be unable to get onto the board. It's their last chance to tie it.
When they saw our last question. A look of relief came across their faces and they answered it almost automatically as if they rehearsed it. That shouldn't be possible because Yuka actually came up with that question on her own.
Welp. The score is 1-1 and now we're now tied.
Yuka seemed a bit irritated now by the way she was rapidly tapping her left foot.
The teacher looked at all four of us and said, "A tenth question will chosen by each pairs class."
Well this is superb. Only two ways this can go down. One of us wins or we both tie.
Tying guarantees that none of our classes loses any points but that also means one of our students gets expelled.
Yuka whispered to me, "What the heck is going on?"
I ignored her and excused myself to the washroom.
We had a few minutes before the 10th question will be submitted.
--------------------------–-----------Minori Takeda's POV---------------------------
Both classes are in a state of panic right now due to the tie for whatever reason.
Yogi tried to calm the situation down.
"Guys calm down, there's one last question left. We can still pull off a win."
Ayano (student of class 1-2) replied, "The way the class clash has played out so far. It's obvious that someone leaked the question list to another class."
My ears perked up when I heard that.
"Nobody here will get any benefit from leaking any info to the other classes."
Ayano turned her attention towards me and replied, "Then explain how they answered the 9th question so quickly even though it is an original one?"
Sena sighed, "We all got emailed the same questions right? If so, let's confirm."
Everyone pulled out their phones and checked each other's emails.
Genji paused and said, "Wait a moment, the list that both of our classes received are totally different."
Ayano raised her left eyebrow and replied "Someone here leaked the list."
I got up from my seat and said, "If someone leaked the list then they would be from your class."
Masaki (a student of class 1-2) immediately tried to shut down that accusation.
"Stop trying to spin this around on us."
I glared at him and replied. "If we compare our lists to the questions called out by the teacher during the clash. Dante's questions came up 8 times and when they were given the choice of answering it, the pair hesitated and passed or time ran out. The 9th question is Yuka's and they answered that easily without any difficulties. It's obvious that they were expecting your class question list to be the ones they are answering today. Our class received Dante's list and your class received Yuka's. So that just points to someone in your class betraying us."
Dante and Yuka must have figured out that someone would betray us and decided to submit an alternative list. It is still risky because the traitor could have easily been one of our classmates and with the list being 88.89% of Dante's questions, we would have lost this clash effortlessly.
The entire conference room is in an uproar right now.
Ugh. We don't have time to argue. Time is almost up for us to submit our question.
Yogi and Ayano both quieted everyone down.
Ayano cleared her throat.
*Hem*
"With this pending issue we will have to force a tie."
Yogi turned his head towards her, "Why should we suffer because of your class's lack of unworthy students? Us forcing a tie means that we're back to square one."
Masaki growled, "You're calling us untrustworthy when there's someone among your classmates who sold you out to class 1-3."
Ayano sighed, "We'll take a vote. All those in favor of a tie."
All of class 1-2 raised their hands.
Huh? Sena raised her hand as well. Why is she siding with them?
Genji attacked her. "Why are you taking their side Sena?"
Sena exhaled, "It's the most logical choice but the downside is that we won't get any points from class 1-1 because every class will receive zero points.
Genji slammed his hand on the desk and said, "So that's it huh? Our class is screwed either way."
Ayano replied, "It's obvious that the other two classes will be aiming for the same thing so let's submit the hardest question yet."
Masaki pulled out a navy blue envelope and said, "We have to submit it in this."
Genji looked at him and replied, "You guys could possibly be setting the other classes up for a win as well."
1 minute left to submit our question. We have no time to argue.
My phone got a text and as soon as I am about to open it
*Ringgggggggggggggggggg*
Huh an alarm? No, that's the fire alarm.
An announcement came on the PA system.
"Attention students please in an orderly manner gather at the muster point."
What the hell is going on?
