Just as Shen Fei was studying these things, Monie and Monica suddenly stared in front of them. Their pointy ears moved, and they said in unison, “There seems to be movement ahead.”
Shen Fei listened carefully, but he didn’t hear anything. He stared ahead. The black tunnel seemed to be some unknown creature with a great gaping mouth. A chilly wind blew over, carrying the scent of decay and death.
He looked at it quietly for a while but found nothing.
The fairies had better hearing. They could hear movements from over a hundred meters away. Hence, he did not suspect if the sisters had heard wrongly. Monie and Monica frowned.
“That sound is getting closer.”
As their voices fell, Shen Fei vaguely heard a faint rustling sound. If one didn’t listen carefully, it would be easy to miss it. He suddenly felt uneasy, “What is this sound?”
The sisters shook their heads, indicating that they did not know either.
Rustle—rustle—
The sound became more and more obvious, and the commotion gradually grew bigger. Even the people in the live stream could hear it. Furthermore, it was speeding towards Shen Fei’s location.
Something seemed to be brewing in the darkness. It was so dark that even the air appeared to feel a little cramped. Inexplicably, even the people in the live stream suddenly became nervous and didn’t even dare to breathe loudly.
Because of that unknown existence, even the comments became much fewer.
Shen Fei stared in front of him. Before discovering the true appearance of that thing, he didn’t dare to act rashly.
It would be great if the desert eagle could be here. Perhaps it could fly to the front and investigate. Furthermore, it was the king of the sky, so it was extremely safe in the sky. No creature could threaten it.
However, no matter how large the ruins were, they’re still an indoor building. Due to the restrictions of the venue, the desert eagle’s ability could not be used freely here. Therefore, Shen Fei had it stay outside to watch the surroundings, and did not let it follow him inside.
Just as the atmosphere became strange, the area in front of them seemed to have become even darker. In the blink of an eye, that black thing surged over like a tide, and they finally saw what it was.
Everyone was shocked. Even Shen Fei’s eyes flashed with shock and wariness.
It’s scarabs!
The dense swarm of scarabs was like a surging black wave. They swept up waves half the height of a person that could easily swallow a person.
Furthermore, unlike the scarabs in reality, their bodies looked even larger. Each of them was the size of an adult’s fist. Sharp and tiny fangs grew out of their mouths like saw teeth.
The scarabs covered the sky and the earth like a god of death descending, casting down a shadow here. It was filled with death and despair. Be it the ceiling or the surrounding walls, their shadows were everywhere.
Shen Fei finally understood why the wall were so uneven and full of holes. It must be caused by these bugs. No one would underestimate their power.
“Master, what should we do now?”
Monie was a little anxious. As a fairy, although she had the ability to communicate with everything, she yearned for light. She abhorred these dark creatures that came from underground the most.
Shen Fei wasn’t afraid of the mummy from before because he had a way to deal with them. However, the scarabs’ outer shells were hard as steel. It’s probably hard to break through their defenses. Furthermore, there’s very little sand around here.
Coupled with the fact that there were simply too many scarabs, it was clearly not a wise decision to fight them head-on. If he angered them, the gains would not make up for the losses.
At that moment, Shen Fei was in a dilemma.
However, the scarabs wouldn’t give Shen Fei so much time to think. Seeing that outsiders were invading, they instantly became excited. The sound of gnawing saw teeth was like countless silkworms chewing on mulberry leaves, making one’s hair stand on end. It was as if they were sizing up where to start biting Shen Fei.
If nothing goes wrong, in less than a second, Shen Fei will turn into a pile of bones. The scarabs could be considered the most terrifying creatures in the pyramid. There’s nothing they couldn’t eat.
Just as they were about to attack, a black light descended from the sky and enveloped the scarabs. Surprisingly, the originally restless scarabs actually showed signs of calming down.
Monica stepped up and said confidently, “Master, let me try.”
As a dark fairy, she had a natural affinity with these creatures. She might be able to try communicating with these scarabs. Even so, Shen Fei still warned, “Be careful. If something goes wrong, retreat immediately.”
Monica nodded her head and came to the middle of the scarabs. Indeed, the agitated scarabs quieted down. She slowly extended her hand, and a black light enveloped all the scarabs.
Monica’s light flickered. No one knew what was going on. Although those scarabs had quieted down, they were still a real threat.
“There shouldn’t be any accidents, right?”
Seeing the worry on Shen Fei’s face, Monie consoled, “Don’t worry, Master. We have to believe in Monica’s ability, right?”
Very soon, Monica flew back. Her expression was a little excited as she said, “Master, these scarabs told me that the pyramid ruins came from a certain primitive civilization. They had already developed to the Iron Age, and there is even a fine iron ore vein under these ruins.”
Shen Fei was greatly astonished, and instantly stunned on the spot.
Fine iron ore vein!
The significance of this was incomparably great. Right now, everyone either had initial choices for weapons or was unarmed. After all, there were too few materials to make weapons with in the desert.
Even if there were, there would only be things like wood or stone. Even if one forged weapons with it, they wouldn’t be sturdy.
But now, Monica brought news that there was a large amount of fine iron ore veins below. How could it not be tempting?
“Monica, you are really my lucky star.”
In his excitement, Shen Fei could not help but hug Monica and give her a kiss on her face.
Two red spots instantly appeared on Monica’s snow-white skin, so much so that the color spread all over her body. Even her exposed skin had a faint pink color.
Fortunately, the light was dim, so it’s hard to see clearly. Otherwise, Shen Fei and the people in the live stream would be able to see that her entire body appeared like a cooked shrimp.
