When the car finally stopped, Hiyori gulped loudly, looking through the windshield where they just parked down!

“A cemetery?” asked, turning her head towards Everlong.

“Yep!” replied, already getting out of the car.

“Why?” followed him hurriedly, watching as he opened up the trunk and got shovels out of it, passing one onto her.

“I told you, I’m going to dig up a few things about her!” answered, letting the shovel rest on his shoulder. “Let’s go!” nodded with his head, heading towards the cemetery.

“But-!” gasped, catching up with quick steps, turning her head left and right continuously, afraid, someone was going to spot them.

“Don’t worry, she wasn’t cremated! Her parents were in a small religious group, believing the body is going to rise when rapture comes! So she was buried intact! They did not believe their daughter committed suicide because of their teachings, they even sued the school but it was settled before going to court.” explained calmly, scanning the headstones with a flashlight in his other hand.

“I wasn’t to ask you about that! This is grave robbing… or worse!” said with a panicky voice.

“Nah!” laughed “It is my national privilege!”

“What?” shook her head, not understanding a word he was saying right now.

“The Albionian National Museum has the greatest collection of treasures from around the world!” said while stopping at a grave that had ‘Fukui Yukari’ etched onto it with the years of her birth and death; 1975-1991. “I’m doing what my people are best at!” winked at her as he stabbed the edge of his shovel into the ground and got to work. “Come, with the two of us, we should finish quicker!”

“Damn… I am going to be cursed a second time!” groaned, feeling very weird, part excited and part disgusted but in the end, she started digging. “She also has no treasure buried with her… I would bet anything on it! I'm 100% sure of that!”

“Oh!” stopped Everlong, looking at Hiyori then at the grave “Then this is really a grave robbing! Oh well~” shrugged, getting back at it with great vigor.

“You are sick…” clicked her tongue, seeing his nonchalant expression.

“Shit, you saw my porn mag collection?”

“Hah!” laughed out Hiyori, unable to hold it back, finding that she was way more relaxed than she should be. “Okay, okay, now I am getting really interested!”

“In me or in my history?” raised his eyebrows at her.

“Both.” answered with a much quieter voice and with a crimson blush creeping up on her face.

“Oh!” stopped Everlong, now for real “You got me, I was not expecting an honest answer!”

“...” lowered her head more, feeling it turning even redder now! Thankfully it was dark and hard to see it out here. Plus concentrating on the digging she did not have to look up at his face at that moment! In the end they just focused on the digging and when finally they hit the coffin with a loud thud, Everlong quickly cleared the rest of the dirt, opening it there and then, unceremoniously.

“Ugh…” stepped back Hiyori, covering her mouth and nose, watching the mummified corpse of the girl exposed to the elements after 30 years. Her skin was already dried out, stuck to her bones, turning into a mixed color between green and gray. The clothes she was buried with were already rotted away, hanging on in pieces all over her body. The weird smell that came out from the coffin, mixing with the smell of freshly upturned dirt was also something she was not used to at all! “Does she have any reaction?” asked, holding back her retchings, gulping it back multiple times, trying to remain composed and thinking about her accursed follower instead.

“That is the interesting part~” smiled Everlong, clearly happy with her intuition to ask a question like that. “She didn't even come into the cemetery! She stayed at the car!” crouched down, picking out a pocket knife, cutting off some strands of hair and one of the pinky fingers from the corpse, putting them into a small, transparent zip bag. “Great! We’re done!” slammed down the coffin’s lid and he just pulled himself out before starting to cover the hole back up.

“That’s it?” blinked rapidly Hiyori but also happy that she does not have to do anything weird or look at the mummified girl for too long.

“Yeah! It is best to do things quickly, I may joke around but opening up graves can aggravate the spirits in the vicinity!” answered, making her flinch. “I only need these because I’m going to bring them to an expert friend of mine to help us out!” continued, quickly throwing the dug out dirt back onto the old coffin.

“So… are we now sure that my demon is… she?” asked after shaking her head, expelling her worries as best as she could, looking down at the hole with eyes that were not friendly at all. Every time Everlong threw dirt on it, she felt a kind of pleasant satisfaction wash through her.

“Mmmm…” stopped for a brief moment, leaning on his shovel, thinking. “90%. If you ask me. The fact that it refused to come in here is really suspicious! A lot of spirits and demons are unable to face their own mortal remains!”

“Then why not just burn it?” asked, with a much colder voice now, still watching the coffin as it was being reburied by Everlong.

“We could. We may even do that later!” said, explaining it patiently, like a teacher “But we can’t do it willy-nilly! There are strict requirements to do something like that successfully! For her, I know that she was from a chatolic family so I can come up with a few rituals that may work! Different religions have different ways to turn into demons and also different methods to expel or destroy those demons! One that works for a chatolic one won’t do shit against a rakshasi. But before that, I need to know some key points!” raised his hand, showing three fingers to her “One; The circumstances of her death. Two; Her own beliefs before death. Three; What kind of demon is she aspiring to transform into! If I go and ritually destroy her remains it may banish her for… maybe a year? A decade? A month? Who knows! But she would be back! And if you are still alive then… oh boy, you would wish you were not!”

“Fuck…” bit into her lips, starting to work too and soon the grave was refilled completely. “But… How do we know what her beliefs were? How did she die for real? And… What kind of demon is she turning into? Shit, all of these are something we have zero chance at knowing!” despaired when realization hit her.

“That is where you are wrong!” answered, getting out a cigarette, lighting it up and only after a deep huff did he pass it towards Hiyori. She quickly grabbed at it, holding it towards her lips with trembling fingers.

“You sure?” asked before taking a deep huff from it too.

“You’ll see… Following me this night was the point from which you no longer can return.” said to her, watching Hiyori as she was blowing out the smoke through her nostrils.

“I feel like I reached that point a long time ago!” answered, taking a deep sigh, images flashing in her head about the moment of impact as their car was pushed before the truck, striking it with full force. “What comes will come!” slapped her own face with two hands.

“Good answer!” nodded Everlong then whispered under his breath “Well, she is much more promising than the previous one…”

“What was it?” looked up at him Hiyori, not understanding what he just said.

“We have a long night ahead of us, so let’s go!” smiled, dusting down his hands and heading back to the car with Hiyori in tow.

“Hey, would it be grossed out by her own finger?” tilted her head, watching it in Everlong’s hand, getting back into her normal mood.

“Maybe. Depends on her personality. IF this is hers at all!”

“Gimme!” grined, happily taking the little, transparent bag away from him. “If this is hers, a payback is in order! Fucking bitch!”
