Everlong’s words were just uttered, when from the dark, multiple, tangible tentacles whipped forward with a loud, sharp snapping sound. One hit him in the back, flinging him forward, another aimed at Frederick, landing on his staff as he managed to turn just in time to block. Another pair went after Sylial, trying to grab onto her wings, to tear them from her back while a final one aimed to squash Hiyori into a meat pulp right then and there.

From all of them, the one who came out without any trouble was Hiyori as the black tendril was stopped by the blueish aura around her, as if it hit nothing but an extremely stable energy field. By reflex, she slashed with her dagger that easily cut it off the end of the tentacle. The strand of ink-like tentacle wiggled a little, stuck to her blue aura, before turning into a black sludge, flowing onto the ground like water. To her dismay, the injured whip of darkness soon came back, with more in tow, slapping and hitting her “forcefield” trying to break down.

While Hiyori was waving her hand around, cutting and cutting at the demonic strands attacking her, the others were having it even more rough, without a protection like the one around her. Sylial was up in the air, dodging sharp, spear-like tendrils that were trying to impale her body. It was maybe the worst for her as her light, the main strength she had proved useless against this wretched demon. The brightness was simply absorbed and overwhelmed and when one ‘spear’ finally whizzed by, scraping against her left arm it left a deep gush behind, with a parasitic, black spot that was immediately trying to invade into her body. Her arm got numb in a few seconds, growing limp and only hanging there without any further use.

Frederick was also backed into a corner, no matter how strongly his staff buzzed with electricity, it was unable to numb the tentacles, without enough strength to sever them from their source. His coat was releasing golden light periodically, blocking those tentacles that aimed to stab him through his back but every time it did, the light was becoming dimmer and dimmer.

Everlong was already on his feet, shooting from his revolver, blasting such big holes into the dark form of ‘Jibil’ that it was revealing the natural, still lit outside world before it was swallowed back up by the darkness. It was soon clearly evident that even if his shots hurt Jibil, the regeneration of hers was way faster.

“Three pitiful humans, trying to defeat me! Hahaha, hilarious!” echoed Jibil’s voice as four tentacles fused together, smashing Sylial in the face, coming down as a hammer from above her. “Your angel is also nothing more than a greenhorn bitch!”

Sylial’s body crashed loudly into the ground as she vomited out bright, ruby colored, sparkling blood from her mouth. Black tendrils immediately sneaked up and around her, tying down her wings, arms and legs, immobilizing the angel in one swift move. Frederick had it similar as his defensive coat finally run out of energy and was hit multiple times, whipped like slave on a rowing boat, forced to his knees, continue to barrage him relentlessly.

“I’ll deal with you later.” traveled Jibil’s voice to Hiyori while her tentacles dragged Frederick next to Sylial, capturing him too. The annoying protection around Hiyori proved problematic but Jibil was sure, after the rest is finished off, Hiyori won’t pose any threats. She is going to enjoy cracking her protective field open slowly, before torturing her for decades to come.

“What now, human?” cackled in a mocking tone, raising up the captured two into the air, as if they were being crucified, her question aimed at Everlong. He was turning towards them, watching the duo. He was still grinning but gasping for air with hastened breathing, looking exhausted while the barrel of his revolver was red-hot colored, spewing thick, white smoke everywhere.

“That's it?” chuckled Everlong as multiple tentacles hit him, finally flinging his revolver out of his hand, pushing him down with a loud crack. It was hard to tell if it was his back that was broken or the floor he was slammed into. Soon he was also lifted up in the air, captured and choked by tentacles. Jibil’s laugh was filled with pride and pleasure, especially enjoying the face Hiyori was making, seeing Everlong being subdued.

“Now, now…” cackled Jibil “I am going to enjoy this! First, I am going to defile the angel~” said while her tentacles started to rip off Sylial’s clothing. For the first time the angel was showing genuine fear, knowing if that happens she would either die or be corrupted. “Then I’m going to torture the wizard boy, for fun.” continued explaining, aiming her words at Hiyori, to increase the panic and fear in her eyes. “Finally, I am going to bring your head back to Hell.” said, as one, black tentacle gently caressed Everlong’s face that was still grinning widely.

“I wouldn’t do that, if I were you!” said the captured detective, unbothered by their predicament.

“Still acting strong, are you? Maybe I should leave you last? Let you watch as I crack open your little girl’s protective shell? Then see how I am going to rape her, break her mind and then maybe make her kill you?”

“Sounds fun!” laughed Everlong “Are you truly Leviathan’s little bitch or you are also into Asmodeus’s perverted fantasies? Do your “brothers” know you serve two princes?”

“Hmf! You are acting like you know us, human? You are making me laugh here! You know nothing!”

“It seems like to me, you are the one who is in the dark about things.” breathed out white air Everlong. His blue eyes were looking directly into the darkness as if he was staring Jibil down, even though she had no eyes, no tangible form.

“Don’t look!” groaned Sylial, closing her eyes and Frederick realized something, closing his, not arguing at all. Hiyori did not know what was happening but a feeling got into her to follow suit and she just shut them close, as tight as she could, ignoring the tentacles that were trying to smash her into the floor.

“Sadly, little Knight of Leviathan… I would laugh into the face of your Prince if he would come here personally.” spat out Everlong while the blue light in his eyes started to form into a brightly burning flame.

“What… is this?” asked Jibil, finding something really off but next she could not help but scream out painfully.

All the tentacles around Everlong burst into blue flames, burning off into nothingness, leaving behind just that; Nothing. No ashes, no sludge, no remains. None at all. By now everlong was standing in the air, floating, surrounded by blue strands of flames, snaking around his body, wearing a frightening smile and instead of eyes he had two blue flames dancing in his eye sockets.

“The flame of Lucifer! Why do you have it?!” screamed Jibil, panicked.

“The dead should not ask questions.” answered and even as he was wearing a smile his voice was dark, deep and chilling, hearing it, Hiyori could not recognize Everlong’s voice in it at that moment… at all.
