Chapter 4: No longer a coward

"Hm protection job for... 1,500 Fekri!" An a young adventurer was looking at the mission board, Wearing brown colored leather shirt under his thin silver armor, attached to his hip was a magic sword capable of giving buffs to its wielder and allowed better mana flow

'This might be a trap, I've never this amount of Fekri for protection request'

"Var whats taking so long" The old man had Greyish black hair and full body armor that defined his very well build muscles, A giant battle-axe was being held with his right arm and in his left was his helmet 

"its nothing Rirgir I-i just found a easy job with high pay we'll get going right now the customers are waiting"- var said nervously and quickly grabbed the sheet of paper 

"Great ill go get Mim and Lizri"  Rirgir gets up from his seat and walks towards 2 girls, the one on the right is wearing a well decorated mage robe with gold lining and a staff with a blue orb at the tip. the one on the left had a bow attached to her back and tied up black hair in a typical archer gear, some small throwing knifes hidden near her hip and legs 

"C'mon we got a job to do" - Rirgir

"We where looking for a priest class but no luck" Lizri says exhaustingly

"Its been harder ever since Yureth died and more expensive since we need to buy health potions now" Mim says with little sadness in her tone 

the group began walking towards their leader and from their walked to the location written on the quest sheet

When the adventurers arrived what awaited them was a wagons filled with food and medicines

"Ah are you adventurers who accepted the protection request a normal looking man dressed in rags 

"Yea and you are?" Var replied

"Im just one of the coachmen but the guys who put up the request left me in charge" Coachmen said smugly while smirking

"just stay in the middle wagon that one has the most room in the back" The coach man while pointing towards the middle wagon 

In total there where 14 Adventurers and 3 coach men 

Once everyone was settled in the wagons they began their 2 day quest

Even after The sun set they where barley covered half way and decided to make a makeshift camp to stay the night

"This is the easiest money I've ever made we haven't even encountered goblins" Var said happily while sitting Infront of a semi large campfire 

"You got that right but still its been underwhelming" Rirgir said while stirring a metal pot above a smaller fire 

"Well lets just hope it stays this quiet till we end this quest" var said jokingly and then unsheathes his blade to get a look at it

'If i had this sword earlier and didn't hesitate Yureth would still be alive' Var looked at his reflection through the sword regrettably

'ill try my best to live my life now that he's gone'

Then Rirgir hands Var a bowl of stew 

"Stop blaming yourself nothing could be done for Yureth it was already too late" Rirgir says with his hoarse voice but caring tone

"Instead become stronger, strong enough to protect everyone you love" 

"I will.. in remembrance of Yureth" Var then puts away sheathes his sword and both Rirgir and Var begin eating and talking

The next day they where traveling again and entered a road covered by forest

"Hey Lizri how about we go on a date after this" Var asks flirtatiously while raising his right eyebrow 

Lizri points her right hand at Var

"flammes lancement!" A half meter fireball was shot at var 

*Boooom*

"My hair!!" Var screams as all his body hair caught on fire

Rirgir chuckles and reminisces about the last time they where all this happy 

"Wait Quiet"  Mim says worryingly 

The rest of the group looks at Mim confused 

"Its too quiet i don't even hear the birds singing"

Everyone's mood turned serious and held their weapons tightly 

Then the next moment the wagon stops

"There's a snag in the way!" the coach man says with an annoyed face

as Var and the others where on the way to check out the situation they they heard the adventure team behind them yell

"What was that!" Var unsheathed his sword

A knight as big as 2 men was standing in the forest a bit behind the 3rd wagon 

surrounding him was a squad of soldiers with drawn bows aiming at a group of adventurers coming from the last wagon

"Fire"

Then a volley of arrows came down on the group of adventurers killing two adventurers

the remaining amount of adventurers was 12  

"Now attack, ill stay put unless there's a real threat" 

'with the amount of soldiers are here there's no need to join'

The adventurers in the back could barley fight back against 70 eventually they killed 23 soldiers before perishing 

*Boom*

A giant explosion was seen up Infront

'Oh crap there's a powerful mage!" Ravisk was worried, he has heard stories of some mages winning against 1000 people.. sure only powerful mages can do this and its not likely that this mage is can but what if..

His squad was in charge of scouting so he didnt need to go in and attack but still he started running towards the noise

'NO! i cant stay weak if i wanna see my family I...MUST do this' Filled with adrenaline Ravisk stealthily looks at the situation ahead

A tank is taking on 5 soldiers and winning, The swords man picking off the soldiers who try to swing on the tank and his sword has some lightning appearing from it..

An archer killing aiming and shooting at soldiers farther back and a female mage shooting fireballs at least 2 meters wide

Just them alone 54 soldiers have been killed and at least 144 soldiers remained

If anything it looked like this group of adventures where gunna win

So Ravisk being full of adrenalin ran at the magic swordsman while he was distracted with another

'My chance i need to do this' Ravisk stabbed the magic swordsman in the lower spin 

"NOO! Éruption Flamme!" Lazri Shot a beam of fire at Ravisk 

'Wait am I.. going to die' Ravisk looks at the pillar of fire heading his way

Then Ravisk was engulfed in a Shadow

"You have guts" Rahmur Ran Infront of Lizri's spell and managed to block it with his body

"Now I, Head knight of Ruinia face thy" Rahmur unsheathes his long sword and a blue aura hugged him

'I-i cant move he hit my spine'

Var was on his back facing his team unable to do a thing to help

"NOO! Éruption flammes!" 

"lizri kill that bastard" Var said weakly 

but then a large knight appeared before his assailant and shielded him

"N-no"

"You have guts"

Var looked at the knight with hatred 

"Now I, Head knight of Ruinia face thy" 

the next moment the knight was gone with his sword plunged into Lizri, it was a blur even Mim who had the fastest reaction speed was dumbfounded 

"Liz n-no" by this point Var was about to knock unconscious

Rahmur then swung his sword, splitting lizri's corpse right in half

"LIZZZ!" yelled Rirgir 

He swung his axe at Rahmur but somehow He was behind Rirgir

"Such a slow tank cannot compare to the likes of me" Rahmur said with great pride

*thump* 

Rirgir's axe had fallen along with his.. arms

*Blehhh* blood came rushing out of his arms and his mouth

"R-run Mim" Rirgir didn't want Mim to die she was like a granddaughter to him

"capture her" Rahmur ordered his men to capture the last remaining adventurer

Later, the sun set and the darkness is seeping in

"P-please stop this" Tears flew from Mim's eyes begging them to stop

"Ravisk get in on this cmon u killed that magic swordsmen"- random soldier

white liquid flowed from Mim's mouth 

"I-im okay" ravisk said sheepishly 

"your loss" - random soldier 

'I really... killed that guy' As Ravisk laid down he was looking at hid hands with disbelief 

'It didnt feel as horrible as i thought'

'captain even let me keep the sword... maybe ill try even harder next time'
