"Ay, ye remember the list, laddy?" a feminine voice called out from within a towering wooden house.
"Yes, yes, I got it, Nana." A young boy looking to be 14 responded as he took a few steps out the front door.
His unruly black hair that draped down to his neck lazily hung over his gleaming black eyes, and a smile spread across as he called out once more as the wooden door creaked behind him as it closed, "I'm off! I'll see you later!"
As he waved goodbye and walked through knee-high pasture and towards the village, he could swear he heard a faint "be safe!" behind him; this brought a soft chuckle to his lips as he continued onwards.
The day was as beautiful as ever, and the brilliant blue sky was bathing the land in its gentle warmth; the boy lifted his face to the sky with his eyes closed, taking the day in breath by breath.
After around a 20minute walk, the boy's footing changed from a soft grassy floor to solid cobblestone tiles.
His beaten-up leather shoes clicked and clacked along as he walked past the small wooden houses around him and toward his destination.
A faint alluring smell dwindled in the air.
Finally, the sound of bustling footsteps, offers of extravagant merchandise, and the townsfolk conversing with one another filled his ears as he spotted the sign just up ahead, hanging over an outdoor entrance and reading, "Trade Square"
Many people could be seen moving to and fro semi-frantically, 'sigh, hope I didn't miss any deals or Nana's gonna kill me.'
As the boy walked through the entrance and slipped past all the adults who were too busy to notice him, a voice called out, "how ya doin' Zee?"
The boy looked ahead towards the source of the sound and just who he was looking for.
A man with a bald, egg-shaped head, a fluffy mustache, and a vibrant smile cheerily greeted the boy.
He wore a buttoned-white shirt that threatened to explode open if his plump belly grew even an inch larger.
The man was standing in a green stall with a wooden sign that spelled out "Goods" written in black above it.
Whether it was information, miscellaneous items, or something that you MIGHT need, this man probably had it, even if he was a bit shady...
Zee thought to himself as he approached the stall, 'hopefully, things can go quickly today.'
"Harharharhar!" as if reading Zee's mind, the man let out a boisterous laugh with his chin up into the air.
Zee's blank expression simply stared and waited with a '(-_-)' expression till, after what felt like 5 minutes, finally died down.
"harhar... ya always give me a good laugh, boi." The man said with a bright, toothy smile.
'Do I have something on my face, and no one ever tells me, why does this happen every time?" Zee thought to himself as the crowd continued to bustle behind him.
"Heh, anyways, Pops," Zee forced an awkward laugh out as he tried to steer the conversation, "do ya have what Nana ordered in?"
Pop's eyes widened, and his face formed an O shape before snapping his fingers as if suddenly remembering he had a store to run, "Oh right!"
The man turned his back to Zee and crouched down, shuffling through the boxes behind him as he muttered to himself, "this one, nooo.. wait, is it, nahhhh..."
Zee spat in the air as he waited since he didn't know how to whistle and was instead just creating a slipping hazard for those around him.
Finally, after some time and a shallow puddle of drool was formed under his feet, Pops called out, "found it!"
The boy rubbed his mouth with his shirt sleeve and came forward to the stall counter.
Pops turned around, the bright smile still glued onto his face as he handed Zee a silver case that was about as big as a soccer ball except squarish.
Zee stared at the case, flipping it around in his hand as he examined it.
The man chuckled at this sight, "oh yeah, and don't ask what's in it."
Zee shot a confused at Pops, to which the man simply shrugged his shoulders, "heck, Nana told me to tell ya that, not like even I know what's in it."
The man turned his head as he spoke under his breath, "not like it's possible to get into that thing."
'(-_-)' Zee stared at the imbecile in front of him, 'is he really this stupid?'
A nervous smile spread across the bloke's head as he ruffled the imaginary hair on his head, "hehe, well, I guess we all got our secrets, huh?"
As the man lifted his arm, stretching the struggling buttons apart just a bit, Zee caught the glimpse of a black mark on his chest, "I guess so..."
Finally, the boy snapped out of his thoughts and secured the case in his hand by its black handle, "anyways, Pops, thanks as always!"
Pops, who was for some reason still stretching with his shirt threatening to come undone any minute now, finally winded back down, as Zee could've sworn he heard the buttons sigh in relief as he responded to the young boy, "anytime, my boy."
The two stood there, a smile still spread across Pop's face as if he knew Zee was waiting for something, "anything else?" the man asked.
Zee's eyes widened, looking down to the floor nervously as he fidgeted with his hands, "uh, well, um, ya see."
"Harhar." The man sent his chin into the air once more, filling the air with laughter, "I know what ya want, my boy. You're lucky ya came early cuz I'm sure they still have some left."
Zee let out a sigh of relief as he slumped down and let out, "Thank Yala, I'm not too late."
The merchant at this sight let out a chuckle, "better head over there now, I'll make sure he saves one for ya."

After hearing this, a huge smile spread across the boy's face as he turned tail and ran off, waving to the merchant as he slipped through the crowd of people "Thanks, Pops!"
Pops waved back, his contagious laughter ringing throughout the Trade Square, "Anytime, my boy, his blue eyes beaming their enthusiastic light.

HUFF
HUFF
A young boy zoomed through the cobblestones streets with the blue sky above and surrounding structures all blurring into colors as he dashed forward.
The smaller houses and structures around the streets slowly morphed into larger and more grand structures as he continued down the path; nonetheless, he was still in the Trade Square, as it was more of a "Trade Path," if anything.
Usually, this is where the more expensive and high-end items would be, with many stalls now being replaced by full-blown buildings, each with gorgeous designs on the outside with guards stationed near each of them to ensure safety and security.
However, what had caused Zee to come all this way when he had nothing else but the clothes on his back and the case in hand?
SNIFFFFFffff
The boy took a deep whiff as that alluring scent had gotten even stronger, pulling him in further into the source as he ignored the aching pain of his heart and instead sped up even more towards his destination.
Finally, after 10 minutes of speeding along the cobblestone pathway, Zee spotted his target.
Up ahead was a modest stall that had a line so long Zee realized that he had run past many of the waiting customers a couple of meters back.
As the boy panted and continued running along the path, he sent prayers of thanks above, 'Thank Yala, I'm not too late. It's usually much more packed.'
Finally, after shifting past the crowd of customers and almost slipping on the puddle of saliva left by the drooling patrons, Zee finally came up to the counter, gasping for breath.
"Huhh, finally, huhhhh, made, uuuuut."
"Why you!" Oz felt a forceful tug by his shirt from behind as the person next to him, and the crowd behind shouted and cursed at the boy for cutting the line.
As the people began encircling him, pure rage in their eyes, a voice called out, "Everyone, everyone, please."
The commotion quieted down as everyone looked towards the stall to see a bony old man dressed in a dirty apron over a modest white shirt.
The old man's beard swayed in the graceful wind, and his wheat-colored spotted head had slivers of grey of hair left, topped by a chef hat.
The old man's shaky body smiled at the boy as he reached forward, holding something truly marvelous in his hand, a golden brown piece of fluffy bread that lay neatly on top of a wooden plate.
The flavor of this bread was so world-renowned that the people of this town begged the owner of a meager shack to move here.
Instead of paying for his rent, it was the opposite, his bread was that good.
The people around Zee all reluctantly let go of his arms and legs as he pulled himself forward, slowing stepping forward, his eyes glued on this delicacy.
whirrrrrrrrr
The aroma that had teased at his nostrils since entering the village had launched the boy into a near-euphoric state, and he bit his lips to control the urge to snatch it and swallow it immediately... or splurge...
whirrrrRRRRR
Zee took the bread in his hands, awe-inspired by the rare opportunity he had and thanking the heavens above for this chance.
WHIRRRRRRRRR
'What's that sound?', yet as the boy lifted his head to the source of the noise, he was greeted by a butt landing in his face.
OOOOOMF!
--
'Ughh... my head.' Zee rubbed his head and looked around in confusion, 'wait, the bread!'
The boy frantically twisted and turned his head around, looking for any clues to what had happened, when he then realized he was still being sat on.
"Ughhh!" Zee ground his teeth in anger as he flashed an angry gaze at the cause of all this, "who the hell?-"
Yet, he couldn't even finish his sentence as he gazed into those familiar golden eyes.
"You... you're back."
