All in all, Danya spent nearly five million credits during their shopping spree. Such an amount was more than many families would see throughout their lives, and she had just blown that sum in a single day.
They took full advantage of the space granted by Danya's Inventory, purchasing anything they thought they might have a use for. Such as supplies for school, camping equipment, a vast supply of food, armor for Sala, maintenance supplies for their equipment, potions, and alchemical ingredients.
The duo now found themselves outside a large, extravagant building covered in gold accents and bright lights.
"Wizaron Auction House" read the comparatively simple sign above the large double doors.
Danya groaned at the long line that started by the door and extended far out of sight. "Ugh. I was hoping to have a bit of time to relax before the auction starts. It'll take us forever to get in with that huge line!"
Sala chuckled. "Lady Danya, why would we wait in line? You're a god's champion, and I'm a noble. We won't often be waiting, if at all."
They bypassed the line and walked straight to the entrance. The door guards recognized Sala and bowed, allowing them to pass.
An attractive woman, who appeared to be in her early twenties, approached them quickly after they entered. She had long, curly, blonde hair that cascaded down to the small of her back. She was around the same height as Danya, with a lithe figure and long, toned legs. While smaller than average, her breasts would still fill one's hands nicely. Her rear was pleasantly shaped, clearly showing the work she put into her physique.
She was garbed in a short, red dress. The dress sparkled in the light and accentuated the figure of its wearer with its deep cleavage and tight fit.
"Young Master Sala!" She greeted with a brilliant smile. "We were hoping that you would be attending today's auction!"
She briefly scanned Danya before asking, "Will your father be joining us as well?"
"No. Father had other business to attend to this evening," Sala responded with a shake of his head. "We'll be heading straight to the Wingraden box to rest a bit before the auction begins."
"Wonderful! I'll gather some refreshments and inform the staff of your arrival." The woman said and curtsied.
Danya and Sala walked toward the center of the building. They quickly arrived at a private room that contained several comfortable-looking armchairs, couches, and loveseats. Opposite the door was a railed balcony that overlooked a grand stage. Beneath the balcony were several thousands of auditorium-style seats, a large portion of which were already occupied.
Sala disconnected himself from Danya and took a seat in an armchair with a relieved sigh.
Danya smirked mischievously and sat down in Sala's lap. She wiggled around to 'find the most comfortable spot' before sighing contentedly as his inevitably hardened member pressed up against her.
She giggled slightly before grasping his hands and placing them on her breasts.
"Mmm. You can touch me whenever you want to..." Danya trailed off, realizing what she was doing without thinking. Alarmed at the lack of thought behind her actions, she spoke hurriedly, "Let me know if I do anything you don't like. I don't want to make you uncomfortable, especially when I keep acting on my race's instincts without thinking."
Sala responded with a nod, his hands roaming her body. "Don't worry. There's not much you could do that would bother me, but I'll make sure to let you know if you do."
They sank into a companionable silence and groped each other for several minutes before someone knocked on the door.
Sala took back his hands, earning a pout from Danya, and gave permission to enter.
The woman from earlier appeared, followed by another woman dressed in a crisp-looking uniform. They were both carrying trays with an assortment of drinks and finger foods.
"Young Master, Layla here will be taking care of your needs once the auction starts." The original woman indicated toward the other, who curtsied, deposited her tray and stepped outside the room. "Until then, I hope you don't mind if I accompany you."
Sala looked to Danya and, receiving a nod, spoke, "Of course. Please, make yourself comfortable." He then indicated to the woman. "Lady Danya, this is Maryi Wizaron, the manager of this branch." Gesturing to Danya, he continued, "Maryi, this is Danya. Our cities' Divine Champion."
Shock flashed across Maryi's face before she sank to her knees and bowed her head. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Lady Danya. I apologize for not greeting you properly earlier."
Danya froze, not expecting a woman of evident wealth and high status to lower herself and apologize for no reason. Several seconds of awkward silence passed before Sala whispered in her ear, and she parrotted his words. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well, Maryi. Don't worry, there's no issue. You couldn't have known who I was. Please rise."
Maryi did so with a smile and took a seat nearby the duo.
"Ah! I'll be seeing you two at the Royal Academy then! I lucked out and managed to get accepted this year. Thankfully, I only had to wait a year after my awakening, instead of three to five like most people do." Maryi exclaimed after learning that Danya and Sala would be attending the following semester.
Curious about the long wait time, Danya opened her mouth to inquire but was interrupted as Sala suddenly jerked, his eyes widening.
Concerned, she asked, "Sala? Is everything okay?"
Sala let out a breath and nodded. "Everything is fine. Father just surprised me. He gave me full access to his funds and told me to purchase whatever we want."
The room was silent for a moment before Maryi giggled. "Ah, wonderful! This will definitely be an exciting auction!" She stood and smiled. "Perfect timing too! The auction will be starting in a few minutes! I'm off to make sure that everything is prepared."
She turned to Danya and asked. "Lady Danya, would you mind staying after the auction? My father happens to be in the city today, and I'm sure that he would want to meet you. If you'd allow it, of course."
Seeing no issue, Danya nodded, "Of course. I'd be happy to meet with him."
Maryi bid them farewell with a curtsey. "Excellent. I'll come by afterward and take you to him."
Now alone, Danya inquired, "Your father gave you access to his funds and said to use that instead of the money he already gave me?"
Sala nodded, "Yes. He even said to buy everything at the auction if we wanted to. I think that he was planning to do something like this already, but me joining you helped to solidify that idea."
Before she could ask further, the lights in the hall dimmed, leaving only the stage illuminated. Maryi walked out onto the stage with a radiant smile, waving at the audience.
"Hello everyone! Welcome to the Awakening Day Auction! As you're all no doubt aware, this day has been the herald of a collection of both good and bad news." Maryi sighed exaggeratedly. "Our world is soon to be caught up in war. We must all do our part to ensure our continued prosperity."
"Our Wizaron Auction House has decided to set a precedent for others to follow. Starting now, we're going all out on every auction!"
Maryi spread her hands as the lights shifted and focused on her, causing her dress to shimmer. "We will no longer wait to sell items at a later date or different location for further profit. Every item we receive will be sold immediately at the next auction!"
"This includes items that we've been holding in reserve for years. They'll all be auctioned off today!" She exclaimed and paused before continuing, "In addition, there will no longer be differing auctions for low-end and high-end items. Starting tomorrow, every item will be sold at a single auction. This auction will have no entry requirements, and anyone that desires can enter and place their bids!"
She was quiet for a moment as the audience absorbed the information.
"Now, let's get this auction started!" She exclaimed and gestured toward a cart being pushed onto the stage.
Atop the cart was a decorative cushion holding a familiar-looking orb, if not for its bright green coloration.

"This orb contains a skill titled Autonomous Action!" Maryi said. She paused and picked up the orb, holding it out in front of her. "For those of you that may not know, this orb's green color indicates that it is reusable and has a full charge remaining."
"We've not been able to find any record of it appearing throughout history, so we're not really sure what the skill does." She placed the orb back onto the cushion and smiled widely. "However, the word 'autonomous' in the title leads us to believe that this skill will certainly be a worthwhile purchase."
"The starting price is one trillion credits, and each bid must be at least one hundred billion credits!" Maryi exclaimed with a clap.
The hall was immediately filled with shouted bids. The price climbed and climbed, reaching ten trillion before slowing down.
A deep, masculine voice rang out from the center of the front row, directly in front of Maryi. "Fifteen trillion, Miss Maryi. And perhaps you'd like to go out with me for dinner at Enigma's tonight as well?"
The hall went silent. Nobody seemed to want to bid against the man, many concealed looks of disdain, knowing how he would act if they continued to bid.
Maryi spoke, completely ignoring his request for a date. "Fifteen trillion! Going once! Goin-"
She was cut off as another bid rang out. "Twenty trillion!"
The man snarled and turned to face the one who dared to bid against him. His snarl was replaced with a mocking smirk at the sight of Sala and Danya. "Wingraden brat! Are you trying to impress that whore by bidding against me? You should know that your father doesn't give you a big enough allowance to go against me." He chuckled. "You better stop now and run back crying to daddy before you do something that you'll regret!"
Scowling at the man's words, Sala opened his mouth to retort. He didn't get the chance as Maryi spoke, voice cold as ice. "Baron Helmt. You will watch your tongue while in my auction hall. You know not who you have just insulted. I suggest you return to your seat and bid if you intend to do so. Otherwise, you are free to leave at any time."
The now identified baron clicked his tongue and sat down. "Tch. You can have this little trinket brat. Be glad that Miss Maryi defended you. You won't get away so easily again."
With nobody else expressing interest in continuing to bid for the orb, Maryi quickly closed the bid and moved on with the auction.
Several items came and went over the next two hours. Weapons, armors, potions, skills, and much more.
Sala bid on a small collection of items, winning each one. Much to his annoyance, Baron Helmt bid against him and artificially raised the price of everything he bid on.
The auction hall was quiet as the final item of the night was wheeled out.
"For tonight's final item, we have something truly extraordinary and one of a kind. What I have here is an inheritance left behind by an archmage. One who lived at least a hundred thousand years ago." She gestured to the small, pitch-black box. It was small enough to be comfortably held with a single hand and didn't look special.
"This inheritance was excavated from a small ruin that appeared to be the hideout of an independent cultivator. From the information we recovered, we believe that the archmage was well past the level 10 immortality barrier, most likely even surpassing level 25!"
A cacophony of voices exploded throughout the hall at her words. Maryi just smiled and waited for the crowd to quiet down.
"As is typical with inheritances, only someone that meets its specific criteria can access it. This one will only activate for those below level 3 and requires a peak B grade affinity to the space element." She paused for a moment, letting the information sink in. "The starting price is one hundred trillion, and each bid must be at least one trillion."
Sala lifted Danya and stood before placing her down in the seat. He walked to the balcony's edge and spoke, "150 trillion!"
With the silence broken, bids rang out as everyone scrambled to purchase the inheritance.
Danya jumped up and asked frantically, "Sala! What the hell are you doing?!? That's way too much money to be spending on me!"
Sala shook his head and exclaimed, "Did you forget that you are a Divine Champion? And have such a high affinity for space? If there was ever any doubt that you were blessed by the gods, this is all the proof one needs. An item such as this would never be sold under normal circumstances. We absolutely must have this, no matter the cost!"
He made another bid, countering Baron Helmt. "250 trillion!"
The baron ground his teeth and stood, turning toward Sala. He yelled, anger filling his voice, "Brat! I don't care how much your father gave you. This inheritance will go to my clan! 300 trillion!"
Sala simply smiled. "500 trillion."
Baron Helmt let out a furious shout and released his aura. He focused it entirely on Danya and Sala's balcony, deciding to teach the impudent child a lesson. "Your father can't protect you here, and you don't have the power to back your actions! It's time you learned that there are consequences for disrespecting your betters!"
The pair were forced to their knees, and blood flowed from their eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
"HELMT! STOP THIS AT ONCE! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHO YOU'RE ATTACKING?!" Maryi screamed, voice full of anger and fear.
Helmt locked eyes with Sala, not acknowledging her words. "I'll give you one last chance, brat. Forfeit the inheritance, and this can end here."
Sala musted all his remaining strength and rose to his feet, leaning against the balcony railing to hold himself up. He smirked and raised a middle finger. "Fuck you!"
The baron's glare intensified, and he doubled the pressure he was exerting.
Danya groaned in pain and barely managed to place her hands on the ground, preventing herself from being forced entirely prone.
Her Aura Resistance skill was effectively useless. The baron was at least level 8, reducing the effect of her skill to its minimum of one percent.
She was amazed that Sala could remain defiant in the face of such power.
That amazement was replaced by fear when she managed to raise her head. Sala was unconscious. He was slowly leaning over the railing and would fall several dozens of feet to the ground below if this continued.
"SALA!" Danya yelled and desperately tried to reach him. She screamed as she felt her muscles tearing from the strain. Her hand clasped around his ankle just as his feet left the ground. His weight pulled her forward, and she collided with the railing, grunting in pain.
Baron Helmt increased the pressure again and spoke, contempt lacing his voice, "You should let him fall, girl. The distance won't be enough to kill him. Just enough to make a point." He laughed maniacally. "Save yourself some pain and le-"
The pressure suddenly vanished. Danya glanced at the baron, seeing him frozen in mid-sentence, and hauled Sala back onto the balcony.
She began examining him for any other apparent wounds before a bloodcurdling scream tore her attention away and back to the baron.
The sight before her would remain forever in her mind, a grim reminder of the absolute power of the system that governed the lives of Bessinia.
