Davis stared at the jade slip with some disbelief, unable to believe that someone had just given him a mission of this level while he was still an Immortal Stage disciple.
It was one thing if he were at Immortal King Stage. It would make sense to him that someone would go out of their way to rely on him, but he hadn't done anything to prove himself yet other than having the status of being Elder Deathseeker's disciple, which also made him the successor as Elder Deathseeker was also called the Young Master.
There were many intricacies in the Ghost Tear Hall that he wasn't sure about, including what type of hierarchy it had established, but he could swear that he thought that an inner disciple like him shouldn't be able to access missions of this caliber.
As an inner disciple, he was given access to missions that were two minor realms higher than him, which meant that he could take till Early Immortal King Grade. After all, there was a deep crevice between Immortal Stage and Immortal King Stage. It was only for core disciples that missions of higher caliber would be given out, enabling them access to missions that were minor realms or an entire major realm higher.
If it weren't for Ghost King Death Dragon's nod, he knew that he might have had to kill a core disciple first to become a core disciple and then access missions beyond that scale.
From this, Davis could see that the Ghost King had the authority to bend the rules a little in his favor or, perhaps, in favor of a promising disciple in good faith.
Nonetheless, even with a Ghost King's favor, Davis knew that he wouldn't be able to get an even higher level mission like the one that was personally left to him, making it so that this assassination request must be some sort of request from an Elder-level character or...
'Is this a... trial designed for me...?'
Davis saw that there was actually no information about the reward.
There was just the target's features, his cultivation, and his past and family members who could be targeted to bring the target out into the open, making him rather feel confused about the purpose or intentions turned towards him.
'These people sure do like to hide in the shadows more than me...'
Davis shook his head, keeping the jade slip inside his spatial ring.
For now, he didn't wish to endanger himself while engaging in such a phenomenal task. Although it was perfect to increase the infamy of his name, targeting Liam Zyrus was far better and far less risky in his books.
"What's wrong?"
Mingzhi asked, causing him to shake his head, "Nothing. Just some weirdo trying to make me do something."
"I see."
Mingzhi answered, returning to browse through the collection of darkness-attributed manuals she chose for herself.
It wasn't long before they bought what they came for.
After that, they visited their assigned quarters for a while, and the first thing they did to ensure their privacy and safety was to search the quarters for any possible threats that might be placed. However, even with Davis's senses, he couldn't find any, leaving them relaxed.
"The sun is setting, and night is going to fall, but there are still four more days left."
Mingzhi walked towards him, her clear and melodious voice resounding in the room where Davis and Fiora were there. She sat on him unceremoniously, lightly leaning over his shoulder as she brought his arms to embrace her soft waist.
"Perhaps, we may have time for something...?"
Fiora's brows flickered as she saw Mingzhi initiate something she also craved. However, she didn't do anything, waiting and watching like a hawk.
Davis had his eyes closed for a while now as he had been simply thinking about what to do and how to better use these four days to strengthen himself before appearing in the banquet. To accomplish both would be a difficult task, but now, with Mingzhi sitting on his thighs and insinuating dual cultivation, his heart couldn't help but waver.
He raised one of his hands from the lock at her waist and lightly moved her lush black hair from the side of her head, revealing her beautiful side profile to him. Her exquisite face hidden by a veil was such a turn-on for him, making him want to remove her opaque black veil and rob her crimson lips.

However, he brought one of her hands to his face and kissed the back of her palm, smiling lightly.
"Trust me. I would love to make a mess of you, but not now, my Mingzhi."
"I expected as much, but... it wouldn't hurt to try, right?"
Mingzhi's lips curled wryly, causing Davis to chuckle.
"I only said not now. I didn't say we wouldn't do in any one of these four days."
Mingzhi's expression flickered while Fiora also blushed, opening her mouth.
"Then-"
"Of course, how can it be not without you, Fiora?"
"..."
Fiora trembled with a bit of eagerness and delight, her heart full of anticipation.
"Rogue, you want us together again?"

Mingzhi teased him, placing her hand on his cheek as she gazed at his disguised black eyes.
"You know me, but it's not like we wouldn't spend time alone either. I promise I will make some time for both of you. As for training, there's only so much I can do for the four days."
Davis grinned, "What I'm looking forward to is crushing my enemies in the banquet. Now that I'm dead, they wouldn't bother to hide their true intentions anymore."
"..."
Mingzhi couldn't help but blink, wondering where he was finding this confidence. After all, his enemies could be at Immortal Emperor Stage as well, leaving them at risk of being insta-killed.
"You're right, but I hope you can reconsider as I still think going all-out in a celebratory banquet like that is a bit too... rash."
"Hmm. I know."
Davis caressed Mingzhi's cheek, able to feel her worry for him. The both of them stayed cuddling for a few minutes before she went away, starting to comprehend the dark-attributed cultivation manuals and techniques.
"It's time."
They all waited for night to fall before finally leaving the quarters.
Davis brought everyone with him in his life ring, leaving the hideout through a teleportation formation that sent them out of the underground city. From this, they could understand why they didn't see any other assassin in the passageway as it was probably and mostly only used for entering while exiting through using teleportation formations that send assassins outside at a random location.
This way, it would be harder to track anyone leaving in case someone wanted to harm them in some way.
Davis thought that this kind of society or system was thought out well as well.
He appeared near a cliff, causing him to walk out of the sparsely populated vegetation and stand on the cliff as he saw a vast wall in the distance covering the entire horizon.
"The Grand Zyrus City... this shitty city is one-third the land area that Planet Earth covers..."
Davis scoffed, shaking his head at the incredulity of the immortal world before he changed disguises again.
This time, he wore a shabby white robe. His facial features had also been disguised lightly to look scholarly and handsome. It didn't change much from his look as Davis Loret, but he appeared to be a different person with short black hair and a suave mustache. Furthermore, to add authenticity, he wore a gray hat this time, which brought a shade to his face as the hat had a semi-transparent veil falling from its edge.
Now, he appeared like a rogue cultivator.
With his disguise in check, Davis nodded and flew to the gates of the Grand Zyrus City. Paying the measly toll, he entered the city.
The guards didn't even question his identity, making it known that rogue cultivators were a common sight, but he had already seen that while standing in line.
After making it inside the city, he casually walked the streets, watching the signs and street names as he made his way to the central area.
As he started nearing the central area after going through a few teleportation formations, he started meeting more and more Zyrus Family people. Their facial features differed a lot, but they seemed to like wearing black robes and possessing purple eyes. Their hair was also black. However, they wore these strange ornaments composed of bones which really made them stand out among other people.
He could also see some bones were protective talismans, allowing him to understand that this might be related to Zyrus Family's culture.
Nonetheless, the more he made his way inside the central area, the more he became conspicuous with his white robe.
"Stop..."
Someone finally blocked him and pointed a spear at him, their gaze solemn.
"You are about to step into the sacred core zone of the Grand Zyrus City. State your identity."
"My identity?"
Davis's lips curled as he removed the hat and revealed his face, causing the guard to frown.
"Hmm? Have I seen you before?"
"Perhaps, you may have, as I have visited once before. I know Elder Itaer Zyrus. Do you know him?"
"Oh, so you're an acquaintance of Elder Itaer. Then please excuse me for my rudeness and head further. The delegation from the Lumin Family is already here."
The guard lowered his spear and cupped hands with Davis, causing the latter to nod and continue into the core zone. However, the guard still possessed a frown on his face, unable to recall where he had seen him before, but with his position that requires him to see people's faces every day, he felt that it couldn't be helped.
"Esteemed cultivator, I have yet to know your name."
Suddenly, he turned back and asked, causing Davis to come to a stop before he answered.
"Mo Tian."
"I see." The guard nodded, "I'll remember it-???"
Abruptly, the guard's eyes shot wide, "Wait... you're that Mo Tian!?"
