Chapter 47: Chapter 2 – Rukongai

Rukongai was the area outside of Seireitei, the place where the souls lived. It was divided into 320 districts, 80 in each direction. The higher the number, the farther they are from the center.

Jay had awoken in the 80th district, which caused a few fights to break out. In a place like this, these people neither had any footwear, proper clothes. Or even food.

Jay could feel his stomach make noises because of the hunger he was feeling. He sat down under the tree, frowning.

It wasn't a coincidence that the afterlives of the two worlds merged. The one that was behind this was Jay. But because of this, he had lost the ability to use his powers at that scale.

"This isn't what I had in mind," Jay let out a breath, closing his eyes.

He hadn't had the time to look at things before, but now...he wasn't the only one that was coming through. There were billions of souls from the Ninja world entering this afterlife, and millions of them would come to such districts.

From what he could tell in the last few days, not everyone felt hungry... only those that carried spiritual power felt hungry. The spiritual energy was generated by his heart.

With every beat, it produced some spiritual power which generated the need for food and sustenance. Jay didn't know about the people of this world, but the ninjas were bound to have spiritual energy.

The Chakra was itself a combination of mental energy and physical energy. But over the years, carrying so much energy also made their souls relatively stronger.

This meant that all these people would be carrying spiritual energy. And they will get hungry, which will lead to fights, which will lead to chaos. Especially since these are ninjas, they won't think that this is natural. They won't just accept it.

Jay stood up, sighing, "Let alone them...I don't accept this. And here...I wanted to rest."

He rubbed his silky hair, closing his scarlet eyes, thinking, "Hmm, first...I need a Zanpakuto."

Karma could cause his powers to glitch, but this was to hope that it couldn't interfere with the abilities gained in this world.

South Rukongai, District 78,

"Oye, oye, you alive," A young boy with red hair was lightly kicking, pushing the waist of the woman with long golden hair, lying on her stomach, seemingly dead.

Suddenly, a hand slapped the back of the young boy's head, "What are you doing!! She's not a ghost!"

Renji rolled his eyes at Rukia, "We all are ghosts. This is the afterlife."

Rukia blushed a little, remembering, "Shut up!"

She fell on her knees, putting her hand on the woman's back, shaking her, "You alive?"

Suddenly, the woman turned her head, looking haggard, with sunken eyes.

"Eeeeeee!!!!!!!!! Ghost!!!!!!!!" Rukia jumped on her feet, hiding behind Renji, who was trembling as well.

"Foooodddd~~~"

"Let's run!!!" Renji rushed to run away, holding Rukia's hand, running, when both of them came to an abrupt stop, "Did she say food?"

"I think she said food."

"So...she's like us?" Rukia furrowed her brows, looking towards Renji, "Renji...get some food...I am going to look after her."

"Really?" Renji furrowed his brows, looking back at the woman, curling his lips, "We are going to waste our food on that?"

Rukia kicked his butt, "Just come back fast."

"Yeah, yeah," Renji looked back once more before he started running towards their house.

Rukia, who stayed behind, walked back to Tsunade, struggling to push her body on her back, "Wow, you are heavy!"

Tsunade felt her eye twitch. If she wasn't so hungry, then she would have taught this girl a lesson. It wasn't like it was the weight of her body but of energy that was surrounding her.

She, herself, wasn't sure why she felt this hungry. Since it was the first time in her life. Or maybe things were different in death.

Her senses were a mess, and the energy was too heavy, like carrying a thousand tons of weight.

The reason why she wasn't moving wasn't that she couldn't lift her body. But because she felt if she even moved, then she was bound to destroy most of her surroundings.

Tsunade closed her eyes, breathing evenly, trying to gain control of her energy. But she was far too hungry to concentrate.

Rukia finally got tired, trying to move the woman, lying down with her back on the woman's waist, breathing heavily, sweating, "What the hell are you?! Do those boobs really carry so much weight!!"

Tsunade tightened her jaw, feeling a vein pop on her head, cursing in her mind. Ever since she was a kid, because of Senju's physique. She had a certain amount of self-sustenance. It didn't matter if she stayed hungry for weeks or a month on missions; it was possible to do. But now, it was like she had been starving for months.

Tsunade closed her eyes, waiting until she smelled some fruits under her nose. She opened her eyes, looking at Rukia squat in front of her, showing her fruits, eating.

It didn't take much to satisfy her hunger after eating the berries. She whispered, "Thank you."

"Oye," Renji poked her cheek with a wooden stick, "What are you? Are you one of those new people?"

Tsunade opened her eyes, "New people?"

Rukia's eyes glimmered, "Yes, new people. The people from another world. A few days ago, many of them just appeared in this afterlife. Ever since then, the whole place had become even more chaotic."

Tsunade tugged the corner of her lips, "You look happy about it. About the chaos."

Renji scoffed, "It was always chaotic, but at least now there is someone that is trying to make things better."

"Someone?" Tsunade raised her eyebrow.

"We only know that she is from your world. Her name is Naori...do you know her?"

Tsunade narrowed her eyes, shaking her eyes, "No...I don't." But then, there were people from the last two centuries. It could be anyone.

"So, what happened to you?" Renji Abarai squatted in front of her, curiously asking.

Tsunade closed her eyes, "Fell in love."

"With the ground?"
