“I’m back.”

“Farren, what did my mother say?”

Medenna quickly got up from her seat as soon as Farren returned to the office.

She seemed to have waited for his return.

Farren skillfully changed his expression and reported to her.

“She asked me about the Lucas Mercenary Guild. She knew that I was in charge of most of it.”

“Yes… I didn’t tell her, but I thought she knew.”

“She didn’t seem to blame or want to interfere with it. I guess the countess just wanted to ask about it.”

“I see…”

“You don’t have to worry too much.”

Medenna approached Farren and caressed his cheek.

“…You didn’t hear anything bad, right?”

“Not at all. She advised me to take good care of Medenna.”

Medenna’s mother was wise and fair. She wouldn’t scold Farren, the person Medenna supported because of her.

As he said, it was highly likely that it was nothing much.

Nevertheless, she felt strangely anxious about it.

It was like she was still missing something.

It was a strange feeling.

“I think the countess will be busy preparing Medenna’s debutante for the time being. That’s probably why she was worried.”

“Then, I’ll bring some information before I check your next schedule. Please wait.”

Farren kissed the back of her hand, before leaving the office.

“Yes. If anything really happens, my mother will tell me first.”

Medena decided to focus on what she had to do right away.

* * *

A black-haired boy got off the silver-decorated carriage.

He stepped onto the ground first and then grabbed the hand of a gray-haired, middle-aged woman.

“You said we’ll meet at that abandoned building?”

“That’s right, I offered them another place but they refused.”

“That means they don’t have any intention of backing down from that place. Oh well, shall we go then?”

“Okay.”

The Laugel people must’ve been afraid that they would use armed guards, so he would only meet with two people.

Farren kept the promise and put the servants on standby near the carriage as he headed to the place with Sein.

Since Farren alone was able to control any situation with magic anyway, he didn’t care whether he brought other people or not.

After passing through a narrow alley where it was difficult for carriages to enter, they reached their destination, the abandoned building.

“Oh, you’ve arrived.”

A clear voice echoed between the empty buildings.

Farren raised his head in the direction of the voice.

By the window on the 2nd floor, a healthy looking young man was spotted.

He was sitting on a chair.

“Hmm, he must be of mixed race among the Laugel people.”

“…Yes.”

The Laugels had copper-colored skin, with black or brown eyes and hair.

However, considering that the eyes of that young man were sky blue, it seemed that he was mixed.

“Are you the representative of the Laugels?”

Sein looked up and asked.

He smiled.

“I’m not important enough to be called their representative. I’m just here to talk to you today.”

“Are we going to keep having to look up and shout every time we talk? I want you to be considerate of this old woman’s neck.”

“Haha. There’s no way we’d do that. Please come in through the front door.”

“Thank you.”

Sein gestured at Farren.

He nodded and went in right away.

She sent him a signal.

After examining the condition of the building in a short time, Farren confirmed that there was no danger in it.

Instead of bringing in several people, the Laugel also kept their promise to leave only a minimum number of people in the building.

However, apart from the danger, some unusual matters were detected.

That copper-skinned young man…

He was in fact a mage.

* * *

As he entered the room, he could feel the dust.

Still, the sofa and table in the middle of the room looked clean.

As Farren told Sein to sit down first, the sound of footsteps came from the stairs.

He was sitting by the window in one of the rooms on the 2nd floor.

It was that young man again.

“Thank you for coming here.”

“Nice to meet you. I’m Sein Lucas, the owner of Lucas Mercenary Guild. He’s my assistant, so you don’t have to worry.”

Sein greeted him. Farren also lightly greeted the young man.

Sein didn’t reveal Farren’s actual identity.

The young man walked slowly to the sofa.

He stared at Farren and Sein.

“…My name is Blint.”

“Okay, Blint. I understand how you and your comrades want to use this place as your home. But this building is definitely… “

At the same time, Blint cut her off.

“Oh, wait a second.”

“…….?”

“I definitely said I wanted to talk to the owner, but why is that person not here?”

“Didn’t we come?”

Farren and Sein gulped at the same time.

Blint raised his brows and smiled.

“I do know that that kid over there actually acts as the leader. But he is controlled by someone else, who also happens to be the one investing a large sum of money.”

He was referring to the lady…

Before he was able to finish, there was a sharp noise.

The sofa where Blint sat fell in a second.

The sound had originated from Farren, who attacked him.

Blint did not fall over with the sofa, but landed gently.

There was a pink light around his body.

“You’re a mage…”

Without a reply, Farren took a step closer to Blint with eyes blazing.

He was about to crush the young man right in front of him.

“What’s your purpose? Depending on your answer, you can die right here.”

“Haha, will that be okay? You’re going to get blood on your hands and be hated by your master? All I want is one thing. Let me meet the real owner.”

Farren grabbed him by the collar and dragged him down as he threw him on the sofa.

Sein, who was just watching, said,

“You got that information right. I didn’t expect that.”

“You regarded us as ‘barbarians’ like a dog on the street without intelligence. That’s why they never talk about important information in front of us.”

“Your ability to collect information is worth praise. Was it thanks to the information that you migrated as soon as we purchased this building?”

Sein laughed after replying.

Farren glared, not liking her easy going attitude, but she didn’t budge.

“Calm down. As he said, we can’t kill him.

Remember that.”

“……”

Farren bit his lips.

As long as they had the ‘blood contract’,killing without Medenna’s permission was judged as a betrayal.

“The young man over there could hurt you. If you talk about the owner, it’s hard for me to hold him back. Don’t beat around the bush and tell me your purpose.”

Blint, who was grumbling because of his bruises, replied leisurely.

“I already told you I just want to meet the real owner.”

Farren gritted his teeth and glared at him.

Suddenly bringing up Medenna made him want to kill him.

However, he wouldn’t kill him because he had come here to negotiate.

That was how Blint succeeded in gambling with his life.

Of course, Farren was very unhappy with the fact.

“Well, both of you should calm down and get things sorted out. This is too much for this old lady.”

Sein got up from her seat and calmed the situation.

“I understand what you want to say.

But first, we need to think about it.”

“You’re much better at negotiating than the kid, lady.”

“A scarecrow like me can’t make any important decisions, so I’ll go back first.”

Blint laughed out loud at her joke.

Sein grabbed Farren’s shoulders, which had stiffened due to the pressure.

“Now, let’s calm down. This won’t change the situation, so why don’t we leave? If you go berserk, the master won’t be happy.”

“……I know.”

Farren spat out and then left first.

“Blint, provoked us first, so it’s fair that you paid for it. But if you still need medical expenses, contact me at the Lucas Mercenary Guild.”

“Yes, thank you.”

“See you later.”

Sein also left the building, closing the door, as the dust spread everywhere.

Blint, who was coughing, smiled meaningfully.

“Well, this gamble was a successful one. What about the next? Would I fail?”

He took a coin out of his pocket, flipped it in the air, and slapped it with his palm.

The coin on his hand revealed heads.

“…I’m sorry that I haven’t told you about the problems related to the purchase of the buildings.”

Farren bowed deeply to Medenna, who was sitting in front of her desk in the office, and apologized.

“It’s okay. I’ll forgive that small mistake.”

Medenna accepted his apology without much thought.

She knew Farren would take care of it in his own way.

He did not report it because he thought he could handle it.

He had a reason to do so, hence, she was not angry about it.

Rather, there was information that bothered her in the story she just heard.

“The young man’s name is… Did you say Blint?”

“Yes.”

“……”

It was the talented mage, Blint.

His bold and brave personality matched the information of the original story she knew, but the most important part was different.

“He’s half Laugel…”

“Yes. It was distinctive in his appearance.”

The Blint in the original story wasn’t described that way.

“By any chance, the same name…”

Or maybe the information given in the original was wrong? There was no way the original gave her wrong information about his appearance.

Medenna thought about it for a while, but then she’d be meeting him either way.
