I remember closing my eyes, feeling extremely tired. It was the middle of the day and I was working at my office job that I had recently joined. At 21 I was stuck (literally) in a dead end job in the telecommunications department, working 9 to 5; which seemed like it took all day. I was busy clicking through another report when I felt extremely tired. I couldn't even keep my eyes open. I tried to stand up, thinking maybe that would help me stay awake to muster up the energy.

Panic-stricken, I tried to scream, but found I couldn't even move my mouth. My eyes closed completely, and what little light passed through my corneas faded to black. I was trapped in darkness for what seemed like a long time. It was rare that I was awake, but obviously unable to move. Nothing changed for long. In the distance, I saw a bit of fading light, as if it was approaching me, but very, very slowly.

Suddenly, the light filled my vision. Floating before my eyes was what I could only describe as a "title screen".

"Shit ... " I thought, "Did I... I just died?"

I realized I could finally move, so I reached out and tapped 'New Game+'. With a soft 'Ding!' everything faded to black once again. Slowly words began to scroll by.

"Thank you for participating in the 'RPG Life' alpha test! We've updated a lot of things as the game progressed and feel that we've finally arrived that the core features are ready for a full-size beta test. As a thank you for helping out, we've given you 15000 bonus points to spend on fun perks and bonuses, AND unlocked 3 of the modules for a new game+! Also check out the Options menu, as we have revamped everything. Once again, thanks for participating and have fun in your next game .... From RPG Life!"

"What the hell did I just read, a game, this thing says my life was a fucking game?" I thought inside myself; very angry.

As I silently raged, the words faded away and another group appeared.

This information stayed with me for a while, as I studied it. I had nothing to compare it to, but I thought I apparently did pretty well. Once I read it all, it also faded away, to be replaced by a list.

"This ... actually might be pretty good." I thought as I selected the 'Fictitious' option. Again, the list was replaced by a new one.

The rest were faded and illegible. I read each one, thinking about which one I thought was more fun. Knowing that life was a game, that dying was actually pointless, made this somewhat fun. Could I participate in any of these worlds, with more to come, and do whatever I wanted? Hopefully, if I died, I would just come back here, try another world, or even try the same one again, but in a different way! All things considered; I think this was a fantastic turn of events. As someone who spent way too much time playing video games in life, this situation was perfect for me.

I reached over, tapped the "Dragonball - Long Live the Saiyan Empire!" icon, tapped 'OK' when it asked if, I was sure. A character creation menu of different races, genders and related options appeared. I selected Saiyan Male, of course.

I selected each statistic and, in turn, learned what each one meant and how it affected the game.

Strength:

How physically powerful you are! Each point of Strength increases your HP, relative to your Endurance. This stat determines your starting power level and is the main component of your Strength.

Perception:

How well you can see, sense other things, and detect clues! This stat is used primarily in relation to your senses.

Endurance:

How much endurance you have, with this you can last longer in battle! This stat is mainly related to your HP and the amount of HP you recover over time.

Charisma:

How well you relate to others, and how well you speak! This stat is mainly used to determine the results in relation to talking to others.

Intelligence:

How smart you are! This stat is primarily used to determine how fast you learn and how well you understand things.

Agility:

How fast you move, how high you jump! This stat is used to determine your ability to move within the game world.

Luck:

How often fate lends you a hand! This stat affects the world as a whole and can change things to your advantage.

I like to think of myself as a smart person. Obviously, I could be fooled, but when I have all the information I need, I think I tend to do pretty well for myself.

If we followed the logic of Dragon Ball; I knew that I could easily increase Strength, Endurance and Agility with hard training and stronger gravity. Whereas, with Perception and Luck, I could use my leveling points and of course Charisma and Intelligence would increase with use. My power level would start low, but I wasn't too worried about that. If anything, being born with a low power level would help me survive to go unnoticed by the higher-ups of Planet Vegeta and King Vegeta himself. Since I now knew that life was a video game maybe some push-ups in normal gravity would give me some points in a short period of time as a Saiyan, so increasing them later wouldn't be a problem.

With all that in mind, I began to allocate the 40 points I was given in my new attributes.

After pressing accept and agreeing once again that I was sure I wanted to accept, the process continued. A large list appeared asking me to choose 2 endowments at level 1, most of which were blurred or inaccessible. Some were marked as stat specific, level specific or even unavailable in beta.

Choose two skills at the first level:

1. Enhanced Zenkai: Born under the full moon, your battle prowess grows at an increased rate. Energy modifier changes are rated 0.4 for tailed Saiyan, 0.2 for tailless Saiyan.
2. Elite Saiyan: Your power level was high at birth. + 0.2 to the energy modifier, + 2 STRENGTH, + 2 ENDURANCE.
3. Saiyan Pride: You believe in the power of the Saiyan race. When at 60% or less of HP, +1 bonus TEMPORARY Racial STR (Physical Attack Ranged Damage), +1 bonus TEMPORARY Racial FINAL.
4. A Legendary Story - ******************************************* **********
5. A Drastic Loss ... - You lost your tail as a child. Full Saiyan battles are now (0.8), half Saiyan are now (1.2). Because you were bullied as a child, you have gained additional experience in combat battles. +0.3 to Energy Modifier.
6. Power Suppression: The power level can be hidden.
7. Nerd: You've read a lot of books. You may not be so good at "dodging", but you have intelligence backing you up! +2 bonus to INTELLIGENCE.
8. Mentoring - You were trained by some of the best and brightest. +1 to STRENGTH.
9. Energy Sensor: Stackable.
10. 1st - Can sense power in a general sense. (Stronger, weaker, could have hidden reserves).
11. 2nd - Can sense #*************. Example: 25000 power level would give the feeling of "In the 20000 range".
12. 3rd - Detection of full power level.
13. Desperation: At 50% HP, can charge energy attacks with HP. Every 1/4 HP adds 1/4 maximum damage. Amount limited to half unless less than 30% of HP is left.
14. Inner Eye: Opens the inner eye. Adds Energy Sense Level 2, adds +1 to perception, -1 to CHARISMA, + 0.2 to energy modifier.

Many of the choices didn't make much sense to me, as they didn't explain the actual meaning of all the numbers, and there were also many more gifts that weren't available at the moment. For the time being, I was able to figure things out a bit and chose "Saiyan Pride" and "Energy Suppression". After finalizing my choices, another list appeared:

1. The Gamer - 2500 Points: Life is a game, and you know it very well! With this extraordinary perk, you can see the game as it surrounds you - full access to your memories of previous lives, full character progression and access to other game features! (WARNING: With this perk active, you gain points by 1/3, because you are aware that life is a game).
2. How old am I? - 200 Points: Skip childhood and start life at 5 years old! Who wants to go back to being a baby? The system will simulate life for you, using your feats and advantages, until 5 years have passed (WARNING: You will not gain levels or experience during the simulated 5 years).
3. Omit the Tutorial! - 100 points: Skip the tutorial and learn things the hard way!
4. Legendary Modifications - 15000 points: Your power is ... Legendary!
5. Bonus Feats - Stackable - 100 points: Buy bonus points!

Oh, yes... Now this was much more interesting. Of course, I had read "The Gamer", so at least I knew what it was all about. I was practically salivating at the thought of being the Legendary Super Saiyan, although on the other hand it struck me that I was just given an additional 15000 points to be able to choose this option. But I didn't give it any importance and obviously I spent my points in "Legendary Modifications", "The Gamer", "How old am I?", and two "Bonus Feats" leaving me with only 10 points.

The list of skills appeared again, and I selected "Energy Sensor" and "Despair". There were some interesting ones for later levels, from what I had seen. I finalized all my selections and the screen faded out one last time, prompting me to choose a name. I entered "Fudensō", pronounced "Fudensō" and pressed confirm. There was a sudden flash of light, a sensation of the world flying past me at incredible speed, then stars as far as the eye could see.

They passed by me at blinding speed, for quite a while. I don't know how long I spent watching the stars go by, but eventually, I could feel myself slowing down. In the distance, I could see that one of the stars was lighting up as I got closer. It got closer and closer, until I flew past the star, as I approached from the planets. There was no resistance as I entered the atmosphere, flying through clouds, lakes, rivers and vast expanses of land.

There was a large city in the distance, huge towering skyscrapers dotting the city. I flew past them, into a vast forest where a cabin stood, slowing down even more. With a sudden jerk, I burst through the wooden wall and crashed into a small Saiyan sleeping peacefully on a bed.

My eyes snapped open. He was alive.

Saiyan Dexterity (Courage): Every battle lends itself to your strength. Each battle you participate in, in which you damage someone beyond 80% HP, adds 1 to your battle count.

Legendary Super Saiyan: Your potential is unlimited. Removed the cap (invisible barrier) from the energy modifier.
