Midnight, Qingshui, Jiangnan.
With a loud bang, Ling Yun, who was absolutely petrified, was thrown up into the air from his bicycle. He was hit by a Steyr carrying a truck full of rocks that suddenly came out of a junction. His body resembled a bow as he flew across the dim night sky in a long and poignant curve. It was closely followed by a bang. His oversized body crashed heavily onto the gravel road more than 20 meters away.
He could not even let out a miserable cry before the Steyr truck hit him again. It sent him flying across the road and he fell to the ground, motionless. Blood continuously poured out of all his orifices, it was most likely that he was not going to survive.
The weird thing was that the Steyr driver knew that he had hit someone but he did not stop the truck. The truck kept its speed, ran over the already-destroyed bicycle and zoomed away, with no trace left behind.
The area was rural and quiet. There were no pedestrians on the road and cars rarely drove through this area. All that was left on the road was Ling Yun’s lifeless body that was beyond the point of saving. With him was his bicycle that had been run over and destroyed.
200 meters away, there was a teen with eyes as piercing as a falcon’s. He had a hint of evil on his face and he was sitting inside a black Audi Q7. He was admiring the car accident that unfolded right before his eyes. He waited until the Steyr completely disappeared, as his thin lips pouted slightly with the corners of his mouth curved upwards, exposing a smile filled with ridicule and a hint of cruel violence.
“Tell Young Master Ling the job has been settled. Transfer the remaining ten million dollars into my account!” The evil-looking teen told his driver. He picked up the high-powered infrared telescope beside him. He peered at Ling Yun who was lying still on the ground and bleeding profusely out of every orifice.
“Hmph! I really don’t understand why Young Master Ling would pay twenty million dollars for his life that’s probably worth less than an ant’s!”
“Also, make sure that the idiot who drove the Steyr doesn’t live to see tomorrow’s sunrise… I told him a long time ago that he had to run his truck over that fat pig’s body!”
“Understood!” The middle-aged driver was shaken and responded immediately. A tinge of fear that was barely detectable flashed through his eyes.
Ruthless! Vicious!
In that evil teen’s eyes, those two lives were worth nothing.
The engine of the Audi Q7 revved, the car quickly made a turn and disappeared into the endless night sky.
…
Ling Yun suddenly woke up.
However, he did not open his eyes immediately, instead, he instinctively yelled inside, “Invisible!”
Then, he realized the invisibility, that had never once failed him, did not successfully turn him invisible this time.
I have failed to turn invisible!
This mere thought sent Ling Yun into a state of unknown panic.
However, his panic did not last more than a second. He felt his entire body in excruciating pain, the worst pain he had ever felt in his life. Even though it was not enough to make him bare his teeth, it almost made him grunt aloud.
The tremendous amount of pain made him unable to sort out the huge amount of unfamiliar memories and fragmented information that had flooded his brain in an instant.
Helpless, Ling Yun had to use his last bit of spiritual energy and pushed himself to use divine sense to look into his own body. His body’s terrible condition left him absolutely speechless.
Apart from the fact that this severely obese body did not belong to him, the key point was the body’s organs were all out of place and there was internal haemorrhaging everywhere. His shoulder, thighs, and even several ribs in his chest were fractured. In fact, quite a few joints were completely crushed to powder.
“Oh God, you really want to see me dead, don’t you?!” Ling Yun cursed in his heart, but he still had to face reality.
He was only left with the spiritual energy, which had protected whatever little was left of his primordial spirit from that horrible tragedy, to use.
He tried to use his ability to absorb the spiritual energy of everything between Heaven and Earth countless times. However, he found out that that area had too little spiritual energy. It was too little for him to absorb anything.
Everything else was not important. The key priority then was to fix this banged up body or else he would not even be able to move.
He tried his best to cast a low-level healing spell. With immortal spiritual energy coursing through the meridians in his body slowly, Ling Yun’s damaged organs miraculously returned to their original positions. The internal haemorrhaging stopped and even the broken bones started to fuse back together. The strong throbbing pain decreased slowly until it was completely gone.
“Eh, this guy’s Yang Jue Meridian was heavily destroyed not long after birth! What a huge grudge! Fortunately, apart from being a genius at self-cultivating, I’m also an expert at traditional Chinese medicine. If not, he wouldn’t even be able to live past 20 years old, let alone train!”
Easy to say, but when it came to actual healing, Ling Yun was as careful as possible. Ultimately, this was related to whether he could practice in the future. Of course, he had to be cautious.
Following non-stop treatment, Ling Yun could slowly start to move. He used his hands as support on the ground to sit upright, and opened his blood-filled eyes at the same time!
“B*stard! I…@#$%…” When he saw everything before his eyes clearly, Ling Yun was no longer able to maintain his strong mantra. He had completely forgone the style of an expert and started cursing.
He scolded madly for a long time. It all boiled down to one simple fact – This was not the Great World of Cultivation that he knew!
After he was done scolding, Ling Yun still had to face reality – By reviving the extremely damaged body and healing the Yang Heel Meridian to close to 70%, which was required for his practice, he depleted his very last bit of immortal spiritual energy!
It’s definitely impossible to fix a hidden illness that has been there for more than ten years. If only I had a little more immortal spiritual energy!
Ling Yun furrowed his brows and let out a sigh.
The injuries that this body sustained were too severe. Even though the immortal spiritual energy from his Tribulation Stage was more than useful, Ling Yun had utilized most of it to heal the serious injuries on the body. Thus, he could only heal the Yang Heel Meridian to about 70% of a normal person’s capacity.
However, Ling Yun did not worry at all. With his superb medical skills and with sufficient time, he was definitely able to revert the meridian back to its original state before it got damaged.
The complete recovery of the body and the slow disappearance of the pain allowed him to analyze and sort out the huge amount of fragmented memories that had flooded his brain previously.
The information in his memories was obviously incomplete and choppy, but it was enough to allow Ling Yun to understand some basic knowledge of this world and his current situation.
It turned out that this planet with barely enough spiritual energy was called Earth. The country that he resided in was known as China, which had a long and rich history, as well as a magnificent culture of an ancient kingdom.
Oh, so these glowing things are known as street lights and this architecture on the sides are buildings. It’s actually square-shaped! So, this is called a road, it’s pretty flat! And those metallic shells that run around are called cars. They’re so slow! My flying sword is clearly better!
In a short period of time, a few cars already flew past into the night. The drivers just drove past without stopping and completely ignored Ling Yun who was bathed in blood.
Sigh… I guess no matter where it is, people would be equally indifferent and heartless. Not a single car stopped to ask what happened, even though I’m sitting here with my entire body bathed in blood!
Ling Yun was completely unaware of his appearance. His entire face and body were covered in blood. He just sat there with one arm on the ground supporting his body, with one leg folded and another straightened out, and his body leaning backwards shamelessly. With a slight smirk and a hint of taunt and contempt in his eyes, he started commenting on everything with so much enjoyment.
“Turns out this guy who was run over by the truck is named Ling Yun too!”
After he familiarized himself with his surroundings, Ling Yun finally began to consider the issues of the reality that he was facing.
According to the residual memory, Ling Yun knew that he, or rather, the original owner of this body, just got ran over by a Steyr truck that was full of rocks and was killed.
Since he had already occupied this huge bulky body, he should begin to adapt to his new identity. Inhabiting someone else’s body was nothing to a ruthless, overbearing, self-cultivating genius with no moral values, who was quickly climbing the ranks in the Cultivation World.
This was especially since the original Ling Yun had already died from the car accident.
Ling Yun, a student from Grade 12 Class 6 of Qingshui High School, 18 years old, tall and fat. However, he had a vulnerable and timid personality. In fact, even his academic performance was absolutely atrocious.
The last in his class for the first mock exam? And he dares to have a crush on his classmate who is the prettiest girl in school with this kind of results? And he wants to enrol in Yanjing University, the best university in Huaxia? Even if he wanted to dream, could he at least have a more realistic one?

Ling Yun could not stop himself from rolling his eyes.
3 years in middle school, 3 years in high school, so tall and mighty… Cough cough, with such a tall and beefy body, he actually gets bullied and beaten up almost every day. Man, can you grow a pair? From my world, I was always the one beating others up, even if the big shot experts wanted to mess with me, they had to think twice about their capabilities!
Ling Yun was in complete disbelief.
“Naming you Ling Yun doesn’t really sound too appropriate. It still seems more suitable for me…”
Even though he was saying all these, Ling Yun knew the real reason the other Ling Yun was such a coward. It was because his Yang Heel Meridian of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians got destroyed by someone’s dark and dirty technique when he was just a newborn.
The fact that Ling Yun could live up till now was already a miracle.
At this point, Ling Yun could only shake his head and laugh bitterly. What luck, for him to have inhibited such a masterpiece!
Eh! Not bad, even though this fellow’s academic performance is bad, I didn’t expect him to be this interested in medicine. I can’t believe he would secretly learn so much medical knowledge himself!
As he was going through the memories, Ling Yun felt very happy. Finally, there was a slight similarity between him and the body’s previous owner.
In terms of academic performance, he was always among the bottom three places in the class. Also, he allowed his myopia to get this bad. Myopia… Oh right, where are my glasses…
Even though while Ling Yun was using the spiritual energy to heal the body, he already got rid of the factors that would hinder his progress of self-training. Myopia was just a small issue. However, when he returned to the sect, which was called a school in this world, he would still have to act a little in front of his classmates.
As he looked around, Ling Yun finally found his ‘own’ glasses 3 meters away from him. He pouted and grunted helplessly to himself, “I still have to balance this weird thing on my nose bridge. Come to think about it, that’s so awkward!”
As he got up from the puddle of blood, he casually wiped his bloody hands on his shirt. He walked over and picked up the pair of glasses that had been slightly distorted, brought it up close to his face to inspect it. He realized the two lenses were still in perfect condition. Ling Yun was amazed and mumbled, “Can’t believe these aren’t broken even after being hit so hard. I suppose what they refer to as technology is pretty amazing after all!”
“Ironically, my vision turns blurry after putting on the glasses…” Ling Yun put on and took off the glasses repeatedly, as he found it rather entertaining.
Based on Ling Yun’s careful and meticulous personality, the only reason he was able to be so calm and relaxed while mumbling to himself was that he did not sense any oncoming danger. If not, he would not be admiring the night view from the road. Nor would he be complaining about a bunch of stuff. He would have hidden somewhere far away a long time ago!
As for his blood-soaked body… Ling Yun, who was always killing others as he pleased in the Cultivation World, was more than used to it. As long as his body was fine, these things would not bother him at all. All he had to do was simply find someplace with water to wash up before returning to school.
Ling Yun finally decided to suffer the awkwardness and the blurry vision. He put on the glasses. He thought it felt inconvenient no matter where he chose to wear it. He looked up and noticed his bicycle that had been run over and crushed to bits more than 10 meters away. He started scratching his head.
“Forget it, I guess I’ll walk back to the sect. Oh? No, they refer to it as schools here – that’s pretty appropriate, ultimately it’s somewhere one learns skills, right?”
“I’ll also get to practice my Thousand Miles Godly Steps. Sigh, out of everywhere I could have possibly landed, I had to land at this place with a dwindling amount of spiritual energy. I can’t even utilize my ability to absorb the spiritual energy of all things between Heaven and Earth…”
Even though his mouth went on complaining, Ling Yun still inspected his surroundings carefully and made sure he did not miss out anything. He confirmed that ‘he’ had really met with an accident and that it was not a planned murder, before waltzing off.
However, what he did not know was, this was not a car accident after all. It was a planned murder against him!
“Hmm! Even if it was a car accident, it’s still unacceptable! Hit and run. Don’t you know I’m extremely revengeful? Just wait and see, if I manage to find you, you’re screwed! Mhmm, even if it was unintentional, you have to at least provide me with a ton of spirit stones as compensation!”
“To be suffering losses is definitely not my style!”
Spirit stones were a form of hard currency in Cultivation World. It was apparent that Ling Yun was still unable to completely adapt to this world’s language. While he was diligently trying to adapt, he would still spout a few words as a habitual form of speech unknowingly.
Ling Yun was known to be unable to deal with losses. Even though he was unable to find traces or proof that the accident was an intended murder, it would be completely out of his character if he did not try to seek compensation after being killed in a car accident.
“Also, those disciples (classmates) and delinquents who bullied and mocked me previously, just wait and see!”
One had to admit that Ling Yun was superb at adapting to his new environment and identity. After all, it did not take him long to start thinking about seeking revenge!
Just that, while dreams may seem fulfilling, reality spells a different thing.
With the dwindling spiritual energy present on earth, even if Ling Yun had previously reached the Tribulation Stage, it was already useless. He was aware of the situation he was in. In his current condition, god knows how long it would take for him to reach the most basic stage of self-cultivation, which was Qi Cultivation Stage Level 1, let alone attempt to reach Tribulation Stage!
However, these were not major issues for Ling Yun. Ultimately, he did reach the Qi Cultivation Stage and was not lacking in experience.
Moreover, even though spiritual energy was extremely rare on earth, Ling Yun could still detect a minute amount that seeped out of plants and bushes whenever he walked past some trees or bushes.
However, these spiritual energies were too little for him to absorb.
Little was better than nothing at all!
Ling Yun started off learning medicine. The main reason he was able to climb the ranks in Cultivation World as a genius in self-cultivation as quick as a comet was that he had a secret talent that no one knew about – His ability to continuously absorb the spiritual energy of all things between Heaven and Earth. This was the biggest factor that allowed him to reach the Tribulation Stage within a mere twenty odd year time period.
Ling Yun did not have any extremely ambitious goals, nor did he have a compassionate heart or a strong sense of responsibility towards society. Kindness, morality, and selflessness were all just a huge joke to him.
In Cultivation World, whoever was the most powerful had the most authority. He believed that this was an iron rule that applied everywhere.
Therefore, he only had one goal, and that was to become stronger, and even stronger!
Only in this way, would he not be bullied!
Only in this way, would he be able to protect those who he wanted to protect!
Only in this way, would he be able to get whatever he wanted!
As he walked towards the direction of the school in accordance with his memory, he realized how ridiculous his idea was to be practicing his Thousand Miles Godly Steps!
With a body this fat and weak, he would be out of breath within tens of meters, let alone a thousand miles! A hundred-meter shift probably sounded more plausible!
Nope, I have to start strength training. I have to start my strength training immediately. This body is in too bad a condition. If this persists, it’ll take years for me to build the foundation and it’ll be a long way to go before I can even reach the Qi Cultivation Stage Level 1, let alone reach the Tribulation Stage that I was originally at!
Ling Yun cursed as he felt every inch of fat on his body tremble with every step he took.
In fact, the reason that Ling Yun was this impatient was not merely due to his dissatisfaction with the body. It was also because he knew that this brand-new world was not as simple as everyone thought it was.
For someone to be able to destroy the Yang Heel Meridian of a newborn and still allow him to live up to only 20 years old, he had to have at least the capabilities equivalent to someone in the Qi Cultivation Level 3 from Cultivation World.
In addition, for someone to be harmed right after birth and to have suffered from this strange car accident… What if this was a carefully planned murder?
This was the real reason that Ling Yun was so desperate to start training! He had to protect himself!
His only regret then was depleting most of his spiritual energy while he was healing the body. If he followed his own heaven-defying cultivation technique, reaching Qi Cultivation Stage Level 1 should not be an issue.
Water was the most abundant thing in Qingshui city and Ling Yun noticed a river that was 7 to 8 meters wide after he made a turn. Crystal clear water was flowing through the river quietly.
Ling Yun furrowed his eyebrows as he smelt the stench that came from his blood-stained body and the toxic impurities that got flushed out of his body by the spiritual energy. When he got to the river, he could not even be bothered to remove his clothing before diving head first into the water, and the water splashed out as his obese body hit the water.
Soon, Ling Yun poked his head out of the water with disbelief and excitement written all over his face!
“Eh… This smells like… The scent of the Shichiyou herb!”
