The reason Ling Yun was intrigued was not that there was a car accident. Instead, he realized there were too many car accidents happening in this world!
About 50 meters away, there was a crossroad where the car accident had happened. Right in the middle of a crossroad, a black car had completely rammed into the right side of a white car.
Ling Yun was unfamiliar with cars but if he was, he would be able to tell that the black car was an Audi Q7 and the white car that had been rammed into was a BMW X5.
The drivers in front quickly got off their cars and rushed over. Many pedestrians also stopped in their tracks and crowded around the crossroads.
Ling Yun knocked on the car window and said, “Get off the car, there was a car accident, we’ll probably be stuck here for quite a while.”
“Oh, a car accident happened… What?! Car accident?!”
Xue Meining’s eyes widened in shock as she got out of the car immediately.
She tried to take a look at what happened but realized that the accident scene was too crowded and she was unable to see anything.
“Come, let’s go take a look.”
Ling Yun furrowed his brows and stood still as he asked, “What are we going to look at?”
Xue Meining looked at him in shock and wondered, “Dude, we’re doctors. Practice some professionalism, would you? Let’s go take a look and see if anyone in front got injured!”
Ling Yun was left speechless as he wondered to himself.
We’re just students, right? Since when did we become doctors?
Xue Meining rolled her eyes angrily at him as she took notice of his nonchalance before walking over to drag him along.
“Let’s just go have a look. We have nothing else to do here anyway.”
“What a tragedy! That Audi’s driver was driving while he was drunk. He ran a red light and hit three pedestrians who were crossing the road along with this BMW before finally coming to a halt.”
“Yeah, I know. An old man was sent flying and two female students were knocked down. The lady in the BMW is still unconscious!”
“Someone call an ambulance!”
“There’s no point, the ambulance won’t be able to come in because of the traffic jam!”
Only after Xue Meining dragged Ling Yun down to the accident scene did he come to a realization that the car accident was a lot worse than he had initially thought.
Xue Meining tried her best but was still unable to squeeze through the crowd. Thus, she begged Ling Yun while shaking his arm, “Brother Ling Yun, you’re so tall and strong, let’s squeeze through the crowd together!”
Xue Meining had been taught by her grandfather since young that it was her duty to save people who were on the brink of death. At that moment, her subconscious was telling her that she had the responsibility of a doctor. Thus, she could not help but panic when she heard that someone had gotten injured.
However, Ling Yun had a different mentality. He had already witnessed so many deaths in Cultivation World and had no time to bother about whether one would live or die. He felt that everyone had their own destiny and thus, he was extremely calm.
He was about to convince Xue Meining to mind her own business when he noticed that someone was stalking him from far away. As a result, he could not help but glance at his 5 o’clock direction.
There were three to four people who were walking right behind Ling Yun interested in taking a look at the accident. Ling Yun’s gaze completely swept past them and landed on a middle-aged man who was more than ten meters away and had coincidentally looked away from him.
Everything seemed fine.
However, that was not what Ling Yun thought. He believed in his intuition. His instinct could detect any hidden dangers. It was this very instinct that had helped him escape many untimely deaths.
Is someone staring at me? Ling Yun had a bad feeling about this.
But the middle-aged man did not seem out of the ordinary. He fished his phone out of his pocket before he made a call. His eyes were not even looking in this direction.
“Hey, Brother Ling Yun, what are you looking at, let’s…”
Xue Meining noticed that Ling Yun was looking around and could not help but urge him along.
“Come on, let’s go have a look!” With his right hand, Ling Yun easily pushed the crowd aside as he held Xue Meining’s hand and brought her to the center of the crowd.
“Any doctors? Are there any doctors here? This old man is about to die! Please come over and provide first-aid help!” A female traffic police officer was frantically yelling at the crowd.
Two traffic police officers, one male one female, were maintaining order at the accident scene. The male officer was interrogating the drunk driver while the female officer helplessly crouched by the old man who had been hit.
“Oh my God!” Xue Meining was shocked by the gory scene before her eyes.
The old man had injured his head and was bleeding from both his nose and mouth. It was apparent that he had sustained serious internal and external injuries and had been unconscious for a long time as he laid in a puddle of his own blood.
One of the two female students who both looked like they were in high school had broken her leg and was in agonizing pain. Her face was pale and twisted into an ugly frown due to the pain. She could not cry even if she wanted to!
The other high school girl was in a better condition and seemed to have only scratched her arm. However, she was in a daze due to the sudden accident that had occurred and could only sit there and weep.
Whereas for the BMW, the driver’s window was already down and the driver was unconscious with her head against the steering wheel. Her maroon colored long hair covered her face and no one could tell what she looked like.”
“Save these people!”
Without hesitation, Xue Meining darted over to the old man who was on the ground and crouched down to read his pulse.
Pulse reading was a habit of traditional Chinese medicine physicians. No matter what illness it was, they would always read the pulse first.
Ling Yun furrowed his brows at the sight of it.
Why is she pretending to be capable even though she’s not a doctor? It is obvious that he’s still alive since his chest is still rising and falling, her priority should be figuring out how to stop the bleeding!
Sure enough, the female officer grabbed hold of Xue Meining’s hand and stopped her from proceeding.
“Hey, what are you trying to do? This old man sustained major injuries, don’t fool around!”
At that moment, she only had faith in doctors.

Xue Meining panicked as she uttered, “I, I know…” But after pondering for a long time, she realized that apart from differentiating herbs, interpreting pulses and acupuncture, she knew nothing!
She was dazed.
“You’re a student too, right? Little girl, helping people is the right thing to do, but don’t fool around if you’re not a doctor. If something happens to him, no one would be able to shoulder the responsibility!”
The female officer continued, “Please help me look after those two female students over there. One of them broke her leg and the other injured her arm, they’re petrified!”
“Any doctors around? The ambulance still isn’t here yet. Anyone with medical skills, please take a look at this old man and carry out some first-aid to stop the bleeding!”
The female officer began to yell at the crowd again. She was calm and composed, it was obvious that she had received training in handling this type of situations.
“I’m a surgeon!”
Finally, a middle-aged man who was in his 40s stepped out of the crowd. It was obvious that Saturday was his off-day since he was wearing casual clothes. His skin was fair and he looked calm.
He walked straight towards the female officer and crouched down. He opened up the old man’s eyelids and looked carefully before laying his ear on his chest and listening closely.
Suddenly, his facial expression became very serious.
“Mam, this old man has injured his brain. His pupils are dilating and his breathing and heart rate are extremely weak. Both his internal and external injuries are extremely severe, the most important thing right now is to stop the bleeding!”
“When can the ambulance arrive?”
The female officer quickly responded, “I’ve dialed 120 and it’s been 5 or 6 minutes already. Today’s a Saturday and this place isn’t far from Pedestrian Shopping Street, I don’t know how much longer it’s going to take!”
The male doctor wanted to say something, but finally sighed and shook his head.
He had already determined that the old man could die anytime if he did not receive medical treatment soon.
However, for a modern-day surgeon, the lack of medical equipment and first aid tools rendered him completely useless. All he could do was look on as the old man was inching closer to death!
Xue Meining suddenly lifted her head and screamed at Ling Yun, “Brother Ling Yun, this old man is about to die, save him, quick!”
Xue Meining knew that if anyone was able to save that old man right now, it would definitely be Ling Yun.
The male doctor and female officer followed Xue Meining’s gaze, only to find a fatty standing there, pondering about something.
His glassy eyes indicated that he was paying no attention to these unconscious and struggling casualties.
Ling Yun may have looked like he was not paying attention, but he was actually feeling with his heart.
He believed that his instinct was right about someone stalking him. The reason he had changed his mind and brought Xue Meining into the crowd was to see if the person would follow him into the crowd.
Unfortunately, ever since the quick glance of the middle-aged man, everything returned to normal and that uncomfortable feeling of impending doom had completely disappeared.
Maybe it was because I was too cautious? I suppose this world wouldn’t be as dangerous as Cultivation World and people wouldn’t start fighting if they are unprovoked.
“Brother Ling Yun, what are you even thinking about? Come over quickly and save him!”
Ling Yun finally heard Xue Meining’s panicked screams.
Ling Yun looked over just in time to catch the change in expression of the male doctor and female officer from one that was hopeful to disappointment.
He did not mind their reaction as his gaze landed on the old man.
This old man has injured his head and has broken at least two of his ribs. His internal hemorrhaging is very severe and he has lost too much blood. But, he will still be alive for the next 20 minutes.
Ling Yun quickly made an accurate judgment in his head.
Whatever, I guess I’ll save him since I’m already here.
Even though Ling Yun knew that he would get into trouble every time he tried to do a good deed, he still stepped out of the crowd.
However, he did not walk towards the old man.
He walked towards the two teenage girls first and asked the weeping high school girl, “Do you have a handkerchief?”
*Sob* The high school girl was crying when she noticed that a big fatty had appeared before her.
“I do…” She dug out a handkerchief as she replied.
Ling Yun held onto her injured arm with his left hand and with the flick of his right index finger, he tapped on a few acupuncture points on her arm lightly before bandaging her arm with the handkerchief.
“Don’t cry, you’re alright!” Ling Yun gave the little girl an encouraging smile.
Then, he turned around and addressed the crowd, “May I have two volunteers to help out with stabilizing this girl? I’m going to reattach her broken bone.”
No one responded.
Ling Yun’s heart froze on the spot.
He no longer expected help from the crowd and pointed at the male officer instead as he yelled, “Why are you still interrogating that piece of crap instead of taking care of these casualties? Come over and help!”
The male officer was being yelled at by the Audi Q7’s driver and was completely in a daze. He only responded when he heard Ling Yun’s voice thundering in his ear.
The driver who was responsible for the accident was about 25 years old and had obviously consumed alcohol. However, anyone could tell from his scolding that he did not drink that much and was sober.
“What the hell, who are you to interrogate me? What’s the matter with running over a few people? I have a sh*t ton of money. So if I killed all of them, is ten million dollars enough to cover it? Don’t you dare ^&*$%#$^&%$%#…”
Ling Yun knew that he was a scumbag after listening to the conversation, which was why he called him a piece of crap.
It was also probably why no one from the crowd came up to help.
For someone to be this rude towards the traffic police officer even after running people over, his family had to be rich and powerful. Who would dare to offend him?
